Question: Rare Candy + "Lvl cap!" Pokemon

If you have a Pokemon that has a maxed level cap, can you use a Rare Candy? If so, what will the Rare Candy do to that said Pokemon? I don't want to risk my added exp getting restarted before I use one, so I want to ask before I do.

If you're at your current level cap it will not let you use it on the pokemon.  If you are above your past level cap and have stored exp, make sure to gain exp normally before using a rare candy so any stored experience can be used, as using a rare candy currently destroys all stored experience.
