Glitch With Unova Starter Pokemon Select

I played through the kanto game and beat it, I went to the ferry and transfered my pokemon to the ferry to start in Unova. When I get to the pokemon select screen nothing works. I can't select a pokemon I cant use the A button, I cant use the mouse click. Nothing. I have tried reloading multiple times and reloading the rom but nothing has worked. What do you suggest I do to fix this issue?
