remove the ability to make profit out of npc item

ThePrettyPetard

Question

i have a few way to remove that without removing the ability for us to get rid of those item

1. make the pokemart item be directly sold on gtl for the same price has in store with an infinite stock of course

2. make every npc item have a message saying cheaper in store in sight at all time

3. make those item have a caped price the same has the npc one to prevent anyone from selling them at profit infinetly

has this person brought it up it seems this is a fairly big exploit that should be taken care off

So if someone were to want a NPC item even when they do not have access to that specific Mart, they just get it for the same price without the effort of going there, directly through GTL ? Undermines the point of progressing through story and getting it yourself..  so nope.

Most NPC items do say their original cost already... A person's ignorance regarding it is their own fault.

What would be the point of selling them at all then ? Many lazy players, & players without access do not mind paying a bit extra to get the item at slightly higher rate & saving their time...if they didn't, there won't be NPC items on GTL in the first place. So if someone makes a purchase on their behalf and lists on GTL, their profits are totally legit for providing that service.

That post is mostly salt and the issue it raises isn't an issue at all, there is no monopoly in GTL, one can always undercut your prices, even by a $1 if they want to... And if someone sells it so cheap that they make a profit so less that undercutting those prices would mean losses, other player can list at same price providing competition... So whatever profit the seller is making is already pretty low, and even if it isn't... He or she has provided quick access to an item & saved the buyer time, so those profits are well earned.

the point is to get rid of those tradeable item that you know you will never use or to get rid of item you bought by mistake

Your suggestion talks about people who deliberately buy them to sell at profit though, so this is completely unrelated, but yeah of course there are players like this too and they use GTL just same.

it is actually related has removing the ability to sell those item would inderectly hit them and it's not the same has many tm that are tradeable from the story sell for less than the pokemart price so it's a win win situation for everyone has they haven't paid to obtain it in the first place.

So if they buy an npc item by mistake they are now forced to keep it or resort to trade chat where they could make even less. The issue is that there is competition on the market. Driving prices takes time and skill. Undercutting by 1 dollar really doesn't do much in the long run nor does it mean they are cornering the market. The only way the game works if if there is a cycle of undercutting until you get to a point where your competition will either have to break even or take a loss to sell their product, which very few will even do in the first place.

i am prerfectly fine with the concept of competition  but not when it's about thing that require no grind, have a set price and that take nearly no time to obtain leaving this in the hand of players will just be a fuckfest for them where no one is happy beside maybe the one that did end up being the only one left . so why not take this out and make the pokemart also sell on gtl for a price a price slightly higher than his usual so no one can beat it. this would get rid of this stupid competion while still making the lazzy one pay more for not moving.

Cause it takes out a way of making money for the players, & there are aren't that many left... Making items available on GTL by default is also against GTL's real purpose, which is to provide a trading platform for players & be governed by the free forces of market (demand & supply). Putting system generated items there creates a monopoly, something which is very bad for the economy & the players participating in it.

And people already do pay more than Mart price most of the time while making purchases through GTL.

They have to grind for the money and spend it to keep selling. The issue you are bringing up is a very small issue. Putting full stacks of items on the gtl is a double edged sword. At a certain point you could end up shooting yourself in the foot by oversupplying for the demand. The concept you propose doesn't do anything either. Players will resort to gambling on trade chat or forums to sell these items and there will still be undercutting competition. The players doing this are either very skilled and know what they are doing or they are completely unskilled and will end up hurting themselves later. If you want your listings to sell you need to find the sweet spot where the price is just right to bring in a profit without being too expensive for players to obtain. This is the same principle applied in real world business transactions.

The listing in the GTL could be designed as an unbuyable/"dummy" listing - showing the item for the price it would be available at a pokemart (and also stating at which marts it is available)
Having that listing in the GTL still serves the purpose of making players aware that there is a cheaper option and they are still free to choose if they want/are able (to wait) to travel to that speciifc mart or if the possibly higher price of another listing in the GTL is worth it.

The GTL stands for the Global Trade Link and lets take special note of the second word in that name "Trade". We will not be changing the core functionality of the GTL. Now the bundled selling of items on the GTL is another story and should be accounted for and is currently being discussed.
