PokeMMOs Open Source Origins

So upon a quick search for java-based pokemon-mmo engines (lol not specific at all).  One can easily find this:  http://forum.ragezone.com/f706/guide-pokenet-server-setup-760965/

If you look through the thread a bit it becomes quite apparent that this is the same exact engine that the old mmo ran on, with updated version of the engine exists in other places on the interwebz.  -->https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=348036

Now i know you guys have some custom code to rip the sprite sheets to be used in the engine but his amount of code must pale in comparison to this source code.  The source code is the meat and potatoes, battling, trading, stats etc.

Heres the real question guys:

If you are using an open source engine to use as a base.... Why arent you crediting the original team?

Or maybe the devs simply aren't using that as a base? Maybe, and just maybe, they developed their own base from scratch, and in the nature of this kind of developement similarities do arise.

You're making a very, very big assumption without even being able to look at the source code, which is the entire premise of this argument (is this an argument?).

haha the similarities are too many to count, with the thread coming into existence in 2011, the timing is exactly perfect.  There is absolutely no way they didnt use this as the source.

There absolutely is.

But in the end, both you and I don't know what the Devs actually did. If they did employ the open source code and didn't give credit, then fine they're douches, but it's not like they are doing anything legally wrong. That code is open sourced, free for anyone to use. And if they didn't use that code then, well, there's nothing to discuss.

Umm ok so the font, the GUI, even the color of the GUI are all exactly the same as the OG client.  You think thats all just a coincidence?
