Does the move Bide ignore Protect?

My pokemon used Protect at the turn when enemy was going to release energy stored by Bide. But Bide still hit my pokemon. 

 

On Bulbapedia it says Bide is affected by Protect. Since your pokemon cannot use any other move when it's storing energy with Bide, I assume that it means enemy's Protect can affect your pokemon's Bide. Thus, Bide shouldn't have hit my pokemon, if the turn my pokemon used Protect and the turn my enemy released energy was the same turn.

 

Can anyone please explain this to me?

Did protect fail to activate on that turn?

It was successfully activated. I could see the visual effect. But still got bypassed by Bide.
