Can you breed at the daycare or do you have to talk to that old man outside?

Hello. Im quite new to breeding and things like IV/EV training.

So I'm confused. As you can see in the title, im wondering if i can breed eggs in the daycare (Emerald) or if i have to sacrifice my pokemon to the old man outside that gives me 1 egg. 

You might say "Well why dont you just put it in the daycare and wait to find out?" I would like to discover things myself, but I just cant put my strongest pokemon away and wait an indefinite amount of time, risking that nothing happens and I just have to pay ~ 7000 Pokédollar,while im not that late into the game.

I hope someone can help me out.

The daycare lady is purely a leveling service - she will not breed Pokemon. Breeders need to be given to the daycare man outside, who will keep the Pokemon you give to him in exchange for their child, whose potential stats can be seen when selecting breeders.
