[LTS] Event Rules & Description

LTS

Recommended Posts

Last Team Standing (LTS) is a community PvP event where players will compete each week to assert their dominance in various tiers. Rigamorty and Gbwead, as co-hosts, will pick 8 managers that will form their respective team (11 players minimum) by taking part in a pre-season auction and by bidding on the players they deem valuable. The competition will be divided in 3 parts: a round robin tournament (6 weeks), the alliances showdown (2 weeks) and the civil war (1 week).

Hosts

Spoiler

@Rigamorty and @gbwead will organize every aspect of this event, ensure that rules are met, competition is adequate and will therefore have final say in any decision.

Managers
Spoiler

A LTS Manager is the leader of their team and plays the most important role in this event. They will conduct the draft, determine a weekly line-up, and motivate their players to succeed and stay excited to play week in and week out. Managers that will win a week must choose a player from the defeated team to release for the competition. They can't pick players that have won that week or the one player that received the weekly immunity from his manager. Any trades are made and accepted by the manager, and they only answer to the LTS Hosts. Managers need to ensure that their players follow the rules and are updated about any changes that might occur. They are also responsible for notifying the hosts of any necessary substitutions that need to be made. They also watch for possible inactivity by their players. All correspondence between the manager and the host should be made by personal message, so that it is documented.

In essence, the manager has the most responsibility on their team.

Keep in mind the following:
  • The 8 managers will be selected by Rigamorty and Gbwead, after the manager sign-up period is over.
  • Managers are chosen on a largely subjective basis. For details read the ‘Manager Signups Information’ paragraph.
  • Managers are not allowed to play for their team, it's either play or manage so choose wisely.

Lastly the manager has these responsibilities:
  • The manager shall send the host weekly line-ups
  • The manager shall ensure to his/her best capabilities that every match will be completed by the deadline
  • The manager shall inform the host as to why a match failed to be completed in the event that one fails
  • The managers shall inform the host of any substitutions that need to be made
  • The manager shall inform the host of any attempts of cheating by his team or others
  • The manager oversees all trades involving their team
  • The manager oversees the draft unless unable to be present, in which case the manager shall appoint someone to draft on their behalf
  • The manager, after leading his/her team to a weekly victory, shall release a player from an opponent's team
  • The manager shall make and alliance with another manager following the auction and before the begining of week 1.

Preseason Auction

Spoiler

The LTS Preseason Auction will be held over Discord in a private channel and in game in Sylph Co Ch7. The draft will occur after Player Sign-ups are completed. The time will be decided by all managers and the host in order for full participation.

  • The order of the auction will be announced at the beginning of the auction and will be determined by random chance
  • Managers will be provided with 200 credits each
  • Once a manager is called, they will have 2 minutes to select a player from the draft list
  • A manager may open the bid at 4 credits (minimum) or state a higher opening bid at the time of selection
  • Once a player is selected, other managers can bid on that player by manually typing their bid
  • A minimum outbid of 1 credit is mandatory, for instance a bid of 4 credits can be outbid by a 5 credits bid
  • Once a bid has been active without any other outbids for 20 seconds, that player will be awarded to the manager's team with the highest bid
  • This will be repeated in subsequent order as indicated at the beginning of the auction
  • Manager's must draft a minimum of 11 players, there is no maximum
  • A manager must keep a minimum number of credits to fill their roster; for example a manager's first bid may be 160 credits, leaving them 40 credits to select their remaining 10 players. Credits will be tracked by the host, but please help out as this can get messy with a live auction
  • Once a manager has drafted 11 players, they may "skip" their turn in the draft and no longer participate. Once they have announced this, their draft will be over and they can no longer draft any further players

No player can be drafted and purposefully benched. This is not respectful nor conducive to the LTS and such behavior will come with consequences.

Notes heading into the auction:

  • Intend on drafting a player for each tier, once you've secured a player for each tier, pick up subs to help bolster your roster in the event of inactivity
  • There is a lot of strategy to the draft, especially since one of the managers against whom you might bid could become your ally.

Alliances

Spoiler

Following the auction and prior to week 1, each manager shall ally himself/herself with another manager. At the end of the Round Robin Tournament, allied teams will merge and their rosters will be combined. The merged teams will compete in a single elimination tournament called the Alliances Showdown. Only one merged team will win the Alliances Showdown and that merged team will afterwards split back into the two original teams. The two original teams will face each other in a Civil War.

During the Round Robin Tournament, a manager can loan secretly one of his/her player to his/her allied manager in order for the allied manager to use that player in his/her line-up. This is risky because during that entire week, the loaned player will be considered as the player of the allied manager and if the allied manager loses the week, the loaned player could get released like any other player. If the loaned player survives the week, he will go back in his/her original team.

Round Robin Tournament

Spoiler

All teams that are not allied will face each other in a 6 weeks round robin tournament. At the end of each week, the victorious managers will release a player from the defeated manager roster. The players that have won their duel and the player that received the weekly immunity from his manager can't be released. A player that was loaned by an allied manager can be released if he/she doesn't receive the weekly immunity or if he/she doesn't win his duel.

Alliances Showdown

Spoiler

At the end of the Round Robin Tournament, allied teams will merge and their rosters will be combined into one. The merged teams will face off in a single elimination bracket. Only one merged team will make it throught to the Civil War.

Civil War

Spoiler

The merged team split back into the two allied teams that will now face each other. The allied team that wins will be crown as the winners of LTS and will receive their fair share of the prize pool.

Preseason

Spoiler

The preseason events will include the manager sign ups, manager selection, player sign ups, and auction. Other events that might occur will be released prior to the start of the season, but will not be disclosed now. Any prizes for said events will be removed from the total LTS prize pool.

Manager Sign-Ups and Selection

Spoiler

A thread will be opened that will explicitly state the rules involved in this process, but in summary players from the community will submit an application to participate as a manager for LTS. Once the application period has ended, the hosts will select 8 players as managers for LTS and a formal announcement will be made.

Player Sign-Ups

Spoiler

A thread will be opened that will explicitly state the rules involved in this process, but in summary players from the community will submit their names, favored tiers, and timezone for which they live. The players who sign up here, will represent the LTS player base and will be purchased in the draft to fill out the various teams.

Sportsmanship

Spoiler

As a participant in the LTS, you will maintain respect for your host, manager, teammates, opponents, and yourself at all times. Any excessively inappropriate behavior will result in disciplinary action. Considering this though, a little trash talk never hurt anyone. Just don't be stupid about it.

Trades

Spoiler

Trades are an important part of the LTS and offer a sense of complexity that not only keeps the managers involved, but can also shake up the entire season. What is the LTS without a bit of drama? But anyhoos, here are the rules involving trades:

  • Trades must be submitted by Friday in order to be approved by Sunday and use of those players in the following week.
  • Once a trade is submitted, the players involved may not be offered in another trade package.
  • All submitted trades are final and cannot be redacted by the involved managers.
  • All approved trades will be activated for the following week.
  • All approved trades will be announced at the end of the week.

Released Players

Spoiler

Released players will receive 100k from the prize pool upon release and will no longer be part of LTS. This symbolic gesture will hopefully help them get good.

Loaned Players

Spoiler

During the Round Robin Tournament, a manager can loan secretly one of his/her player to his/her allied manager in order for the allied manager to use that player in his/her line-up. This is risky because during that entire week, the loaned player will be considered as the player of the allied manager and if the allied manager loses the week, the loaned player could get released like any other player. If the loaned player survives the week, he will go back in his/her original team.

Weekly Immunity

Spoiler

Each week, the defeated managers will grant a weekly immunity to one of their benched players or one of the players that lost their duels. The player receiving that will receive the weekly immunity can't be released that week.

Ties

Spoiler

In the event of a No Contest leading to a Tie, both managers will lose a player, but they will be the one to choose which player of their roster will be released. The players that won their duel that week still can't be released.

Substitution Deadline

Spoiler

All substitutions must be submitted before Thursday 11h59 PM EST.

Feel free to discuss the event rules in this thread.

A few questions

  1. When a manager and his/her team wins, can he pick from the benched lineup as well or just the players that lost their match
  2. If a manager loans his player to another team and the team ends up losing, can the manager choose the player he loaned out to receive his immunity?
  3. If a team continues to lose to the point where it has less than 11 players, is it even fair to put that team against another team?
  4. Because the round robin is only for 6 weeks, does that mean not every team will face off against each other? (if not all the managers have an ally)
  5. Have the tiers even been picked for their to be a requirement for 11 players? if so what is it?
  6. Will there be a draft pick and then the auction? or is it just one big auction?

And some notes

  1. Having managers team up with a friend and then after 6 weeks play together on the same team then after 2 more weeks forced to battle each other is cruel af
  2. If a manager chooses not to ally itself with any other managers, that might cause a hindrance in the schedule

Also someone plz merge

1. Bench players can be chosen, no hiding good players on bench

2.The manager using the player may grant the player immunity if they lose. The manager who gave the loan cannot because they implies they lose and have an immunity to give

3. Yes, git gud. You have to consider that at the auction when choosing how many players to draft

4. Don't play allied team

5. We haven't picked them but there will be 9.

1. That's the point

2. It's not a choice
