Allow using Signature-rotation GIFs.

I've used similar forums with the same layout/ base format. And there would be possible put embed multi-signatures images from some sites.

Example:

This kind of site allow you to put multi image urls so every time u refresh the page the sign won't be the same.

 

I think its just permit the domain in some setting, otherwise if you (staff) have knowledge abut this and doesnt plan allow this kind of signature, please explain why.

Really? Even the staff said the majority of this community is kinda mature (at least in age LOL)

 

Restrict to older accounts or a "x" number of posts is also a viable option imo.

Mature in age, not neccesarily in behaviour.

 

The signatures were rarely reported, but the hidden images within the rotating signatures were being used by quite a few regular forum members.

 

It became increasingly more annoying to moderate, so we just removed the option altogether; Then we did not have to.

yeah the fact if cant have a limit of sigs make it hard to moderate, but it could be restricted by some way,

Removed extra shit

give the violators warning points and the difficulty in moderation will go down quick when they get banned. if you give us a strong deffinition of the rules i'll report every single one i see if we can have this back. most of the old offtopic/rvtn crowd are gone now anywho.

Some jackasses put porn / eyecancer gifs in them on a really low rate so I took it away

It's not worth the time & effort to moderate rotating image hosts which we can't get a list of images from. We tried giving people WP / customization restrictions at one point, but it was easier to just remove the temptation altogether.

 

Globals / GMs' primary focus is in-game moderation, and the more time they have to spend refreshing GD, the worse Live gets. That's all there really is to it.

Forum Ranks don't change how signature rotators can still violate rules on allowed image hosts / image types.  We have image hosts whitelisted because garbage like imageshack/photobucket used to embed malicious advertisements on links. We've also had people try to dox / DDoS other users (and myself) by linking to malicious image hosts which document all the IPs which hit an image.

 

IPB isn't smart enough to do image size/type restriction in realtime without the web server touching the image, which opens the website up to DDoS too. The only thing we could do to prevent these would be to make a CSP, but CSPs are mostly pointless for sites built on IPB due to inline js. It could potentially whitelist embedded image hosts, but that would bypass IPB's builtin URL restrictions on posts.

 

So, no, it's not happening regardless.
