Tentacruel

Recommended Posts

Tentacruel is currently widely used in OU simply because it provides an easy counter to Venusaur with Liquid Ooze, which is otherwise an incredible wallbreaker in this Chansey dominated meta. The most popular set is as follows:

Tentacruel

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Timid

Ability: Liquid Ooze

EVs: 252 SpAtt / 252 Speed

  • Sludge Bomb
  • Surf
  • Knock Off / Toxic / Ice Beam
  • Rapid Spin

Sludge Bomb is an incredible stab that hits Venusaur neutral and scares the crap out of all the grass-types including Sceptile which you check fairly well. Surf is the second stab that rounds out some incredible coverage and can actually dent the common Metagross switch in. Knock Off is there to spite common switch-ins, but Toxic is also nice on a stall team, especially with that 100% accuracy. Ice Beam is there for the weeny-butts who can't predict and want an option to OHKO Flygon. Rapid Spin rounds out the set to provide further utility and remove Spikes.

moveset wise JJ is on point, but for nature and evs you can get totally creative and have something like a bold tenta, modest, calm with different ev spreads that suits your special need in your team. Timid 252 sp attack and speed is very generic but you can go wild with tenta in OU.

Just use the showdown damage calculator and comme up with the best nature, evs that suits the team you are currently using.

I'm not sure about these responses tbh...

tenta is currently "banned" to ou... I have only seen it successfully used on 6 wall, or 5 wall + magneton/heracross teams.

The whole point of those teams is 6 walls + spikes + wish support + knock off + rapid spin...

The general idea is to make the duel so annoying and lame that your opponent questions if they even want to play pokemon ever again.

Anyways.. your nature is going to be calm with 252 hp evs and some speed and def. evs... run some calcs there will be more than one way to do it and depends on your team/line up.

These timid/modest ones were good in uu I believe but tenta is banned there atm.
