New Player Helpers/help chat tab

Xatu

Question

In order to boost player retention and help the players to understand the intricacies to our MMO we should form a coalition to help out these new players. It can be 100% volunteers and like a tier below cms. They would "moderate" the new help chat tab as well although they would have no mod powers.  As payment could be like 100 rp per shift or even bp, or pure yen.

There are already plenty of normal users who just hang around channel chat and do this for free.

Secondly, a 'tier below CMs' who gets payment? when even like Game Masters do their work for free?

Finally, helping out new players is literally the CM job, not giving warning points on forums, so you'd be creating a new role with a task that is identical to an existing role.

'Help chat' tab is not necessary either when they can already directly ask CMs via support ticket, or just ask around in channel chat. Channel kinda IS the help tab.

tldr if you think channel chat is too inactive in terms of helpers, should just ask for more cms imo

This reminds me of that stupid YouTube heroes system where they gave anybody that wanted it power to do whatever the hell they wanted, that was a bad idea and so is this might aswell let us mass report someone

not consistently though. And they are just regular users, they could easily say something misleading since they abide to no standards.

The pay was just an incentive, it doesn't have to be that way and I'm sure many would volunteer anyway.

Its part if their job, yes. But its a hug waste of their time to respond to every help request too.

Cept it isnt. Help tab would reduce lots of spam and give bored veterans something to do.

This could lead into cm positions.

I said they would have zero mod powers. And its not a vampire brigade its literally just helping noobs. What you are referencing was report based for things not deemed politically correct. That's not my suggestion at all.

For these reasons, what is being suggested will not be happening. Community managers fulfil the role being asked for, and if we see someone consistently helping others in channel chat, they may be offered a CM position and are free to apply on their own regardless.
