I spoke with ThinkNice about this a long time ago somewhere between season 1-3, and if I recall correctly we didn't feel it was necessary considering players are big kids and can live with being on the bench should their opportunity never come up. We both felt that forcing managers to play all of their players may actually hurt the manager's team but now that we have 10 tiers, I think the "downside" of playing subpar players is a bit less.

Regardless, I think we overlooked the aspect that managers could be ass clowns and want to buy someone to deliberately bench them. Considering this, and the drama this season, I was actually just about to post what you said. I think it's time we do put a restriction that every player in the PSL get an opportunity to play at least once. While this won't be the answer to our current situation, it might remedy it just a bit in future seasons.

Forgive me if im wrong but isnt psl about the elite and not being played shouldnt discourage you. Some people has to be benched, untill their manager see that they are worth putting on the roster. PSL isnt all about winning, it's about dueling the best people in the game every week for the whole thing. And if you don't make the cut than just too bad tbh. Try again next year and learn from your team mates who are better than you.

For me psl is about reaching out to new people that otherwise you would have never known, talked,or even liked. Each season I managed I tried getting people that I didnt get along with for X reason and try to make up. Sure its risky but thats what makes PSL great, working with the best in the industry.

For me, if you enforce a rule that you are obligated to play everyone on your team I would not want to manage anymore, it gives you a huge handicap + it would only make people have less players on their team. So the whole learning experience goes to dump because some of the benched players would just not get bought. Every season we see a benched player that comes back the next and plays, is it because they learned from the best and improved in a way that they would not on their own? I believe so. Being benched is just life, if you are not good enough then try and get better. It's simple really. If you make the effort of dueling with your team mates mutiple times in a week and help them get ready for their matches, surely your manager will notice you and maybe make you play if he see's an improvement.

This is what we've hoped for, but it might be time for a change.

I believe PSL should be only the elite of pokemmo too, Everybody's here to win the goddamn prizes and kick some asses right ? But the problem is, if there's only elite, why people would still be on the bench forever ?

I mean it's not like football (not soccer u uguu),  basketball or any sports like that.  There's no high skill level like CS or Overwatch. Everything is based on your decision making. Which is great cuz it can be shared with someone behind your ass and could possibly giving you advices. It's a mmo after all and PSL is about teams, not individuals.

But people may need to put their hate aside which is hard I guess.

The moral of the story is : You can't trust the system.

Nothing wrong with being subbed for the whole season. If you win a tournament, do well in matchmaking or have any recent competitive accomplishment, you will have a chance to play eventually. If you get coached, the community tends to find out. Players should behave professionally and be ready to play for their team, no matter how long they have been benched. Just like managers should respect the decisions of the tournament organisers, no matter how wrong they might or might not be.
