I don't particularly care if you guys are really attached to Gen 3 for whatever reason. It's not going anywhere. You can go sit in Viridian & spam LF 6V6 TORNEO whenever.   Yeah, we ca

Words cannot express my disappointment.

Welp there goes almost everything this game had going for it.  Our unique meta is over.  Now we will basically be playing gen 4 on pokemon showdown in an mmo format.  The ability to use 4th gen items in a 3rd gen environment is gone.  This will leave players missing something that is no longer available (lets hope you guys allow us to create a private server or something...).  Expect huge outrage and lots and lots of the hardcore players to leave.  Even if you add an ability to use "3rd gen only" mons like someone else mentioned, thats gonna be like trying to enter NU matchmaking.  On top of this we never even got to see a third gen meta with legendaries.  We never got any dedicated custom pve or pvp areas.  Really guys, this is too little too late.  Nobody even likes 4th gen.  It sucked and was 100% weather wars.  All of the new mons also outclass many of the older ones.  And with the new moves and sets many of our comps we have now will be useless or greatly hindered.

MMO meta will still be fairly different from Gen4's meta even after implementing gen4's moves and stuff. Due to how MMO's egg moves work, Azumarill will get access to both Belly Drum and Aqua Jet which it couldn't in gen4 turning it into a deadly sweeper in OU, Mantine would have access to Roost due to how MMO's movepools work making it a worthy specially defensive wall to use, and a pretty decent Hazer as well, Flygon will be played very differently too with Dragon Dance. Sand Stream only makes sand last for 5 turns in MMO so Hippowdon won't be as a influential as he is in gen4. Outrage and Explosion are nerfed here and these two moves were huge in gen4 for either punching holes in walls or gaining momentum. Breloom was literally everywhere in gen4 and gen5 because he'd essentially turn the match into a 6v5 with Spore but here grass types are immune to powder moves making him less valuable and Togekiss won't be as obnoxious to deal with since electric types are immune to paralysis. On top of that we don't have incredibly obnoxious legendaries like Jirachi, Suicune, Entei(He'd play like in gen6 UU) or Cresselia. There's probably a ton of stuff I'm skipping over and we don't even know if it's gen4, gen5 or if we're even getting an actual generation or something completely different though, but mmo's meta will still be "unique".

All of this pales in comparison to what MMO is (was?).  3rd gen with phys/spec split.  3rd gen with 4th gen items.  3rd gen with 6th gen mechanics.  All of this will be lost forever and its truly saddening.  A few extra moves on stuff doesnt really cut it for me.

Oh so variety and flexibility as well as strategic depth pales in comparison to 50% Chansey usage and a lot of Pokemon being downright unuseable due to lack of STAB moves.using their primary offensive stat, gotcha

Maybe a "bridge" means the migration of the game platform for one compatible with DS/3DS, that doesnt means only new generations on the game, but then the staff are going to the next level of development  bringing new mechaniics, events and a android platform.

Spoiler

on a paralel universe, Kyu is laughing from me

If it is the 4th gen that's being added, it will be a big number of Pokémon to catch. 98, without the 9 legendary Pokémon (but the probably will be one to catch similar to how it works with Mewtwo).

But the big question is "What ROM do we need to legally obtain?"

Pokemon Platinum probably, but due to the massive surgery needed for Sinnoh, I don't think its going to happen.
