OrangeManiac
Well, I figured it was time for this. Welcome to the Little Cup competitive guide thread. This is a guide where we give you ready sets for making your own Little Cup team in case it causes you some trouble. Community input is more than welcome and any comments/critique about any set is welcome as long it's made in civil manner and the post have actual content. About Little Cup in general: Little Cup is a Smogon introduced tier to give Pokemon competitive action that otherwise would be left out of any serious teambuild due to their lack of good stats. Therefor it's nice to have a metagame where all these "little ones" can clash against each other while creating a whole new metagame compared to bashing with those over 550 BST monsters. Little Cup is played at level 5. This causes massive differences to EVing, important IVs and so on. Where as 8 EVs increase a stat by 1 point in level 50, 80 EVs raise one stat by 1 in level 5. At first glance it might look like EVs and IVs are not important at level 5 because of the required EVs for one stat to raise you need to remember that for that one stat to raise by 1 it could be a 10% boost to your stat. Ratio-wise the importance of IVs and EVs is the same with level 5 and 50. Only small difference is that sometimes when EVing a Little Cup Pokemon you could end up having a lot of "spare EVs" which don't raise any stat in the end. A really pleasant thing about Little Cup comps is that oftentimes you do not need 31 speed to reach the Pokemon's maximum speed. IMPORTANT: Every EV spread in this guide is made by assuming your Pokemon is 6x31. If your Pokemon is not 6x31 (which it most likely isn't), every 1 IV lower requires 4 more EVs to reach that same stat value. Let's say a Pokemon has 196 Defensive EVs in this guide but your defense IV is 27. This means you need 16 more EVs to reach that recommended stat point making your number of EVs to give the wanted stat to be 212. Oftentimes the spreads are made that you can maximize the amount of stats you can with your EVs and while you need extra EVs to reach that certain stat you might be lacking to get another stat filled by that 1 point. To make your own calculations I recommend to use this website: http://pokemonshowdown.com/damagecalc/ Without further ado, let's get it on with the builds. I call Swift Choice Band as Scarf and Special Choice Band as Specs because I'm cool like that. TheAlmightyKreed, Osuki, NikhilR and 26 others 29 Link to comment
OrangeManiac
Abra BST: 310 (25/20/15/105/55/90) - Starting this guide is the most powerful Special Attacker of the whole Little Cup tier. Abra's 105 Special Attack is enormous in Little Cup environment. When you give it a damage boosting item like Life Orb or Specs this Pokemon turns into a OHKO machine even when hitting neutral damage. In addition Abra is one of the fastest Little Cup Pokemon hitting 19 speed stat, losing only to Elekid. Spoiler Life Orb Nature: Timid EV Spread: 196 Speed, 240 Special Attack (with 30 Sp. Atk, 31 Speed to get Hidden Power Ground), rest EVs are useless Item: Life Ball Psychic Signal Beam Hidden Power Ground Protect - The standard late game sweeping set of Abra. Psychic causes the main damage and other moves are the to cover the rest. Signal beam covers mainly other Psychic types which resist Psychic and don't get attacked too hard by Hidden Power Ground. Hidden Power Ground is mainly the best in order to hit Pokemon that resist or are immune to Psychic, such as Houndour, Magnemite and Aron. Protect is a great move to scout your opponent's Scarfer's move before switching out. Choice Scarf Nature: Modest/Timid EV Spread: 196 Speed, 240 Special Attack (with 30 Sp. Atk, 31 Speed to get Hidden Power Ground), rest EVs are useless Item: Swift Choice Band Psychic Signal Beam Hidden Power Ground Shock Wave - Every standard Little Cup team has a Scarfer, why not let it be your Abra. The selection of Modest or Timid is between if you wanna hit hard or just make sure other scarfers won't sweep you. Otherwise the moveset is the same as Life Orb set, however you'll be able to access one more move and Shock Wave has the most utility from all the remaining moves. It can hit Wingull 4x and Natu super effectively, so that's nice... I guess. Seriously, it doesn't have anything else. Anorith BST: 355 (45/95/50/40/50/75) - Highly underutilized Pokemon in the Little Cup tier while it possesses one of the best BST totals in the whole Little Cup tier. With its 95 Atk and 75 Speed it's a very good sweeper in LC environment. The main weapon Anorith has is its STAB Rock attacks, the type which is type-effectiveness wise the best of Pokemon. Anorith's main downfall is its narrow movepool and defenses which won't allow many switch ins. Spoiler Scarf sweeper Nature: Lonely/Naughty/Naive/HastyEV Spread: 236 Attack, 236 Speed, 36 DefenseItem: Swift Choice Band Rock Slide/Rock Blast Brick Break Aerial Ace Hidden Power Water / Water Pulse - Best way to utilize Anorith is to go fast in my opinion. Anorith really doesn't need any attack boosting considering the 95 Attack usually already kills stuff and being too slow causes it to be vulnerable against Choice Banders and Specs users. Rock Slide/Blast is the go to sweep move while Brick Break is there for its nice coverage against mainly Normal types like Porygon and Meowth, Aerial Ace is mainly there to hit Fight-types (mainly Mankey). Hidden Power Water / Water Pulse might be the most important coverage move of this set, though. The pressure Onix has on the metagame is huge and the way it walls Brick Break while takes enormous damage from Water-attack is notable. Other options: Running Anorith as a Life Orber is a possibility too. A fun thing to try could be running bulk with both Rock Slide and Rock Tomb to slow opponents down and then killing them but the best option is usually to just finish them off. Aron BST: 330 (50/70/100/40/40/30) - The best things about Aron is its ability Sturdy. This ability is highly precious in the offensive sweeping metagame which (without Spikes) guarantees Aron to get at least one hit off (unless Double Kicked or something). Rock + Steel STABs are quite nice in general and the moves Aron gets aren't bad for a Little Cup mon. Spoiler Can't OHKO me bro Nature: Adamant EV Spread: 196 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 HP, 36 Special Defense Ability: Sturdy Item: Oran Berry Iron Tail Rock Slide Earthquake Protect - Despite of Aron's very low speed I recommend to invest for speed. This is for the fact bulk makes little utility with Aron because of it's Sturdy ability. Highly fast sweepers cannot OHKO Aron while it hits back hard (often even OHKO damage). Meanwhile with speed Aron can outspeed the bulky Little Cup Pokemon. With speed Aron makes sure it can get two hits off against the main tanks in LC. Oran Berry gives nice free HP after 1 HP Sturdy live. Iron Tail and Rock Slide are the go to STABs, Earthquake supports coverage and Protect overall is nice to scout opponent's moves. Azurill BST: 190 (50/20/40/20/40/20) - Having one of the lowest BST of all Pokemon ever, this one is better to leave in the box if your intentions are to win. As odd as it might seem, this little thing however gets the most powerful ability of all Pokemon - Huge Power. Too bad it has basically no moves to utilize that. Spoiler HUUUUGE POWER Nature: Adamant Ability: Huge Power EV Spread: 196 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 HP, 36 Special Defense Item: Swift Choice Band Return Waterfall Iron Tail Body Slam - Azurill can try to late game sweep the 'tanks' of Little Cup, with Huge Power it reaches 24 Attack which is one the biggest in LC environment. Too bad Azurill is a Normal-type instead of Water, so many LC Pokemon can stop Normal-spam out cold. Bagon BST: 300 (45/75/60/40/30/50) - Bagon has the ability to outspeed the metagame with 1 Dragon Dance. As long as your opponents do not run Scarf users, this Pokemon may just sweep a team. Spoiler Dragon Dance Nature: Adamant EV Spread: 236 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 Defense, 36 Special Defense (getting 5x 31 really helps here to maximize all stats) Item: Oran Berry Dragon Dance Dragon Claw Brick Break Rock Slide - After one Dragon Dance this thing outspeeds Scarfless metagame. Dragon Claw overall hits most Pokemon neutrally making it powerful late game. Brick Break deals with the Steel-types that do resist Dragon Claw. Rock Slide does overall damage more when hit super effectively. Baltoy BST: 300 (40/40/55/40/70/55) - Highly underutilized, Baltoy has one notable niche in the Little Cup metagame no other Pokemon do and that is setting up the screens with the least effort. Because of how fast paced Little Cup metagame is having half damage from opponents for 5 turns can be really helpful. Spoiler Dual screens Nature: Careful EV Spread: 196 HP, 196 Special Defense, 76 Defense Item: Oran Berry/Sitrus Berry Reflect LIght Screen Psychic Earthquake - Set up the screen you consider it being the most effective in this match and simply just die out. Your teammate will be happy, though. It's however notable to see Psychic + EQ STAB combo isn't exactly bad so it can tank an important hit and strike back too if needed. Barboach BST: 288 (50/48/43/46/41/60) - Dragon Dancer but worst of the bunch. I guess it's cool that it's immune to Elekid's spam Thunderpunch. Spoiler Dragon Dance Nature: Jolly EV Spread: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 56 HP Item: Oran Berry/Life Orb Dragon Dance Earthquake Waterfall Return - Set and try to sweep. That's all there is to it, really. Corphish BST: 308 (43/80/65/50/35/35) - If it can avoid priority it can sweep nicely with Dragon Dance. 80 Base attack Crabhammer hits like a truck and is the main thing going for Corphish. Setting up against any special attacker is a no-no. Spoiler Dragon Dance Nature: Jolly EV spread: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 56 HP Item: Oran Berry/Life Orb Dragon Dance Crabhammer Superpower Return - Wait for a situation to set up 1 Dragon Dance and try to sweep. Also pray opponent has no scarfers left. Beldum BST: 300 (45/55/80/35/60/30) - lol Spoiler Paraflincher Nature: Jolly EV Spread: 236 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 HP, 36 Sp Def Item: Choice Scarf Headbutt Take Down - Uhm, yeah. Have fun. Bellsprout BST: 300 (50/75/35/70/30/40) - Bellsprout has the ability to sweep unprepared teams (so teams without fast scarfers) with its Chrolophyll and Solarbeam + Weather Ball combo. Setting up Bellsprout can be really hard, though. Its defenses are abysmal but as long as it doesn't get super effective hit or hit by Band it will probably still live a hit. Then set up Sunny Day and hope for the best. Spoiler Sunny Day Nature: Modest EVs: 196 Sp. Atk, 196 Speed, 36 HP, 36 Sp. Def Item: Oran Berry Sunny Day Solarbeam Weather Ball Sludge Bomb - Solarbeam + Weather Ball has an insane coverage and damage on Sunlight. Works the best when opposing fast scarfer is down and then may even sweep the remaining Pokemon of your opponent's team. OrangeManiac
Bulbasaur BST: 318 (45/49/49/65/65/45) - Since there are quite many great Water and Rock types in LC metagame that naturally opens up a room for a Grass-type Pokemon. Bulbasaur as a Pokemon, however is very mediocre. It can be both a Pokemon that can take a hit and drain opponent of its HP with Giga Drain or it can be a somewhat of a sweeper with Scarf. Spoiler "Tank" Item: Calm EV Spread: 236 HP 236 Sp. Def Item: Leftovers Giga Drain Sludge Bomb Hidden Power Psychic Sleep Powder - This set is mainly nice to counter Water and Rock-types while draining all the damage back they did to you. Leftovers might be in a rare occasion better than Oran Berry here to make sure you can utilize your Overgrowth more easily. Sludge Bomb is the overall damage STAB move. This might be the first Pokemon in the history of competitive Pokemon to have a Hidden Power Psychic as a viable move, but the fact Gastly walls out the STABs and it's one of the scariest Pokemon in the tier - it might be the best possible Hidden Power for Little Cup Bulbasaur. Meanwhile it deals with other less used Poison-types, such as Grimer and Gulpin. Sleep Powder can give you valuable free turns. Choice Scarf Item: Modest EV Spread: 236 Speed, 236 Sp. Atk Item: Swift Choice Band Giga Drain Sludge Bomb Frenzy Plant Hidden Power Psychic - Bulbasaur can outspeed the whole metagame with Scarf, which is nice. Effectiveness not guaranteed. Cacnea BST: 335 (50/85/40/85/40/35) - Cacnea has a really good BST for a Little Cup mon, yet it is basically never used there because of the unnecessary mixed attacker stats it has. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Hasty/Naive EV Spread: 240 Speed 240 Attack Item: Swift Choice Band Bullet Seed Brick Break Hidden Power Fire Thunderpunch - Bullet Seed is really good against Sturdy mons, especially Onix. Brick Break is a nice coverage moves, especially good for Houndour. Hidden Power Fire has great coverage but also prevents getting walled by Pineco. Thunderpunch is just a cool move. Other options: Cacnea gets Spikes, which is cool if running Pineco as a Spiker is too mainstream. Carvanha BST: 305 (45/90/20/65/20/65) - From one glass cannon to another. Carvanha possesses one of the lowest defensive stats of all Pokemon. You don't switch this thing against anything. So might as well try to sweep with it... I guess. Spoiler Life Orb Nature: Naive EVs: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 36 Special Defense, 36 Defense Item: Life Ball Waterfall Crunch Ice Beam Destiny Bond - Waterfall + Crunch STAB combo sure is nice for sweeping. After getting a Pokemon down you might as well try to get another with Destiny Bond and because of the high offensive presence it might be able to do that. Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 36 Special Defense, 36 Defense Item: Swift Choice Band Waterfall Crunch Ice Beam Hidden Power Electric - A Scarf alternative to outspeed stuff more easily. Other options: Endure is nice, I guess. Helps activate a Salac berry while doing Rough Skin damage. Caterpie BST: 190 (45/40/35/20/20/45) - The god. Spoiler STRING SHOT STRING SHOT STRING SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT STRING SHOOOOT Charmander BST: 309 (39/52/43/60/50/65) - The Pokemon that makes every "90s kid" go nostalgic, the most popular starter of all time. Nostalgia aside, in competitive environment Charmander is mediocre at best. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive/Hasty EVs: 200 Sp. Atk, 236 Speed, 48 HP (30/31/31/30/31/31 IVs) Item: Swift Choice Band Flamethrower Hidden Power Grass Crunch Thunderpunch - This set is mainly sweeping with Flamethrower, the rest are there for coverage. Dragon Dance Nature: Adamant EVs: 44 HP, 180 Attack, 12 Def, 36 Sp. Def, 236 Speed (Thanks Smogon) Item: Oran Berry Dragon Dance Fire Punch Thunderpunch Crunch - Charmander can be quite an alright sweeper with Dragon Dance combined with STAB Fire Punch. Chikorita BST: 318 (45/49/65/49/65/45) - An alright option as a check to water and electric types of the LC tier, especially powerful Pokemon like Chinchou. Bulk is fairly nice in LC environment making it one of the better option from bulky Pokemon. Spoiler Tank/Support Nature: Calm EVs: 236 HP, 156 Def, 80 Sp. Def (30 sp. def IV from HP Ground) Item: Oran Berry Giga Drain Hidden Power Ground Light Screen / Counter Reflect / Counter - Chikorita's offensive movepool is VERY narrow. Giga Drain is the STAB against those pesky water and rock types, Hidden Power Ground hits Electric hard (especially Magnemite) as well as Fire-types. Rest of Chikorita's movepool goes into supporting. Dual screens is a nice option but Counter could have some surprise value. Chinchou BST: 330 (75/38/38/56/56/67) - One of the strongest forces of the Little Cup tier. The Agility set has become one of the most popular sets of all Little Cup. Surf + Thunderbolt STAB combo is insanely good. Spoiler pls help me with this one's builds because I dont know what the most effective Chinchous are even Cleffa BST: 218 (50/25/28/45/55/15) - Cleffa just doesn't have the base stats for anything. Spoiler Special attacker Nature: Calm EVs: 196 HP, 236 Sp. Def, 76 SpAtk Item: Oran Berry Hyper Voice Flamethrower Psychic Magical Leaf / Water Pulse - Cleffa has quite an alright coverage so you might try to punish a Scarf/Specs locked Gastly or something. Cubone BST: 330 (50/50/90/40/50/35) - The strongest attacker of all Little Cup due to Thick Club doubling Cubone's attack. Cubone isn't really used in the LC metagame, though. This is mainly due to being easily swept by huge number of sweepers in LC tier. Cubone works the best as a Onix counter lead. Spoiler Thick Club Attacker Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Atk, 196 HP, 76 Def, 36 Sp. Def Ability: Rock Head Item: Thick Club Bonemerang Rock Slide Double-Edge Substitute - Works best as a counter lead to Onix or Aron because of their Sturdy. Cubone does have plenty of defense to usually live any physical hit. From special opposing lead it's better to just try to switch out. Cyndaquil BST: 309 (39/52/43/60/50/65) - One thing standing Cyndaquil out of all the other Scarfers is its Eruption, a move which has 150 power at full HP. 60 Sp. Atk is enough to make this a tremendous force, something that everything should be handling with respect. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 236 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 20 Atk, 48 HP (30/31/31/30/31/31 for HP Grass) Item: Swift Choice Band Eruption Hidden Power Grass Double Kick Flamethrower - Eruption is the main move of this set. Even if it is resisted it usually does insane damage. In case you're absolutely sure some water/rocks are going to switch on you, you might opt to go for Hidden Power Grass. Meanwhile Double Kick deals nicely with Houndour and prevents Sturdy Aron from activating (OHKO with 2 Double Kicks is unfortunately unlikely). Flamethrower is there for when you get damaged and need to switch out that you can still have a powerful Fire-move to use. If you get lucky you might even Blaze Flamethrower away. Dratini BST: 300 (41/64/45/50/50/50) - Dragon-type is always defensively nice because of how nicely it switches in. Okay bulk for a LC mon, Dratini is quite a nice Dragon Dance sweeper having the best priority move in the game - Extremespeed. Spoiler Dragon Dance Nature: Adamant EVs: 244 Atk, 196 Speed, 28 HP, 36 SP. Def Item: Life Ball/Oran Berry Dragon Dance Outrage Extremespeed Waterfall - Dragon Dance when the time is right and sweep 'till sunset. Waterfall deals with rock-types, Extremespeed deals with the numerous sweepers in LC tier and Outrage when you need to finish opponent's team off when needing the maximum damage. Other options: I saw some Thunderwave + 3 move set and it seemed fairly effective, not sure of the entire set. Doduo BST: 310 (35/85/45/35/35/75) - 85 Base Attack makes Doduo one of the most fearsome physical sweepers of Little Cup. Doduo is quite fast too but coming just short of being in the 19 speed stat group makes Doduo being less common choice as a physical sweeper as you thought it would be. Spoiler Life Orb sweeper Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Atk, 236 Speed Item: Life Ball Return Drill Peck Quick Attack Low Kick - The sweeping power this set has is quite outstanding. Having two strong physical STABs and Low Kick to beat Onix/Aron makes Doduo one of the best sweepers in LC, especially late game when it can finish off damaged opponents with the Quick Attack. Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly/Adamant EVs: 236 Atk 236 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Return Drill Peck Quick Attack Low Kick - Doduo can easily be scarfer too. Its attack is more than enough to finish off most things so getting someone to clean up other Scarfers is nice. Drowzee BST: 328 (60/48/45/43/90/42) - One of the rare Pokemon that can actually have a legitimate defensive spot on the Little Cup metagame. Drowzee possesses a notable special defense of 90 making it a switch in to lots of special offensive Pokemon while it can spread around Thunder Wave against opponents, or possibly set up screens. Spoiler Special Defensive Support Nature: Calm EVs: 196 HP, 196 Sp. Def, 76 Def, 12 Sp. Atk, 20 Speed Item: Oran Berry Psychic Thunder Wave Reflect / Light Screen / Counter / Hidden Power Ground Reflect / Light Screen / Counter / Hidden Power Ground - Psychic is the go to STAB move even despite Drowzee doesn't have a stand out special attack. Thunder Wave is the main utility move for Drowzee trying to spread as much paralyze over the board it can. Setting up screens is a possibility, Counter can catch lots of Pokemon off guard. Hidden Power Ground can surprise a Houndour and Magnemite, for instance. Edited October 29, 2016 by OrangeManiac Raederz, MisakiMei, Kyokatsu and 3 others 6 Link to comment
OrangeManiac
Duskull BST: 295 (20/40/90/30/90/25) - Duskull is one of the rare viable walls of the Little Cup metagame with its respectable 90 defenses. It also possesses Will-O-Wisp which can cripple physical attackers badly, so works best as a counter to many physical attackers in the tier. Spoiler Wall Nature: Bold EVs: 200 HP, 196 Defense, 40 Sp. Atk, 40 Sp. Def (30/30/31/30/30/30 for HP Fight) Item: Leftovers Shadow Ball Hidden Power Fighting Will-o-Wisp Pain Split - Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Fighting give a standout coverage for Duskull to hit Ghost and Normal while having neutral coverage mainly across everything. Will-o-Wisp is to cause opposing physical attackers worthless and Pain Split to drain of their HP next turn. Oran Berry probably isn't a great idea for Duskull since it activates midturn and may cause you to lose that Pain Split drainage which makes Leftovers probably the better option even though it mainly is not in Little Cup environment. Eevee BST: 325 (55/55/50/45/65/55) - One of the cutest Pokemon ever made. Well, can it also fight? Its BST is up to par in Little Cup while STAB Quick Attack also is a very nice move to have in the sweepery Little Cup environment. I personally think it is a little bit underutilized but the fact is Eevee's coverage isn't amazing and it is a little bit too easily swept for a "bulky" Pokemon. Spoiler Quick Attack abuser Nature: Adamant EVs: 236 Atk 240 HP (30/31/31/30/31/31 for HP Grass) Item: Silk Scarf Return Quick Attack Bite Hidden Power Grass / Water - Eevee's main niche is late game sweeping with Quick Attack. Because Silk Scarf's damage is only slightly under Life Orb's, I personally prefer Silk Scarf for Eevee to keep it alive for longer. Return is the go to move when expecting a switch or your opponent happens to be slower. Bite is to hit ghosts while Hidden Power Grass is to hit Onix and Omanyte hard when Water is better against Onix and Aron. Electrike BST: 295 (40/45/40/65/40/65) - Electrike's BST is already sub-300 which isn't really good but when you notice Electrike being unnecessarily mixed attacker with base stats while having very little bulk you probably realize it's better to leave this one in your PC Box. Spoiler Mixed sweeper Nature: Naive EVs: 240 Sp. Atk, 236 Speed (30/31/31/30/31/31 HP Grass) Item: Life Ball Thunderbolt Hidden Power Grass Flamethrower Quick Attack - The first three moves do have quite an alright coverage. Electrike's Quick Attack also is a nice move to pick off some faster Pokemon from their low HP. Elekid BST: 360 (45/63/37/65/55/95) - One of the most scary, if not the most scary Pokemon in the whole Little Cup tier. Elekid is tied as the fastest Pokemon of all Little Cup, it has one of the best base stat total in Little Cup and its coverage is something unbeatable. Spoiler Mixed Sweeper Nature: Naive/Hasty EVs: 236 Speed, 172 Attack, 76 Special Attack Item: Life Ball / Swift Choice Band Thunderbolt Ice Punch Cross Chop Quick Attack / Psychic - One of the most fearsome sets of all Little Cup. This set sweeps hard and has coverage over pretty much the whole Little Cup. Thunderbolt + Ice Punch is doing the notorious BoltBeam combo while Cross Chop takes care of Rock + Grounders and hits Normals hard. Quick Attack is there to pick off other priority. This set is the go to moveset for both Life Ball and Swift Choice Band sets. If you wanna late game sweep, take Life Ball and with that I recommend Quick Attack as your last move because priority is never bad. If you decide to be the fastest Pokemon in the tier guaranteed you can run Scarf. Then Quick Attack seems a bit unnecessary and Psychic can be your last coverage move. Choice Band Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk, 236 Speed (you NEED 31 Attack to reach max attack!) Item: Choice Band Thunderpunch Cross Chop Ice Punch Quick Attack - Does a little bit more damage than the previous one to make Elekid a OHKO machine. Being locked to CB Thunderpunch kinda sucks with the prevalence of Chinchou which can start Agility sweeping on locked CB Thunderpunch. Exeggcute BST: 325 (60/40/80/60/45/40) - Another addition to the series of "in my opinion very underutilized Pokemon". Exeggcute has something that is rather rare in Little Cup environment and that's unpredictability. It can both sweep you with Sunny Day set, or cripple you with Sleep Powder / Stun Spore while drain you up while paralyzed/asleep. Spoiler Sunny Beam Nature: Timid EVs: 200 Speed, 196 Sp. Atk, 36 HP, 40 Defense (31/ODD or EVEN/30/31/30/30 HP Rock) Item: Life Ball Sunny Day Solarbeam Hidden Power Rock Psychic / Sludge Bomb - Wait for the perfect opportunity and sweep your way to victory. Life Orb Solarbeam does massive damage, usually is a guaranteed OHKO on anything that doesn't resist it. Hidden Power Rock serves as a coverage move to Fire or Flying types. Psychic is the other STAB move which Exeggcute has causing massive damage but for Grass coverage Sludge Bomb is an option. Powder Drainage Nature: Bold EVs: 196 HP, 196 Defense, 36 Sp. Atk, 76 Special Defense Item: Oran Berry Sleep Powder Stun Spore Giga Drain Psychic - The purpose of this set is to cripple an opposing Pokemon with Sleep Powder, then either start taking its HP with Giga Drain or expecting it to switch and Stun Sporing causing opposing other Pokemon to be crippled. Meanwhile Giga Drain and Psychic do some massive damage with STAB. Feebas BST: 190 (20/15/20/10/55/80) - Because we didn't have one Magikarp already. Spoiler Such a wall Nature: Calm EVs: 236 Sp. Def, 196 HP Item: Oran Berry Toxic Protect Substitute Surf Gastly BST: 310 (30/35/30/100/35/80) - The Pokemon all Little Cup mons have nightmares about. The Special Attack is insane, the coverage is insane, the typing is insane. Spoiler Special Sweeper Nature: Timid/Modest EVs: 196 Speed, 196 Sp. Atk, 36 Defense, 36 HP Item: Life Ball/Swift Choice Band Shadow Ball Sludge Bomb Thunderbolt Giga Drain - Not really much to say about this one. You can either try to sweep your opponents easily with Life Orb and the massive coverage and STAB moves you have or you can try to guarantee your first hit with Scarf hoping you won't face another faster scarfer. It's simple, yet so effective. Geodude BST: 300 (40/80/100/30/30/30) - Hits much harder than Onix but because of the low speed it's highly outclassed by Onix. The damage Geodude does is insane, sometimes possibly even overkill. Easily swept by many sweepers. As a lead Geodude however can quite often get a kill off due to Sturdy. Spoiler Sturdy Lead Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Atk, 116 Defense, 36 Sp. Def, 196 Speed Item: Choice Band Rock Blast Earthquake Explosion Fire Punch - Nice counter lead against Pineco. Rock Blast + EQ lead is quite frightening. Because of the high damage Geodude is doing, hitting a blind Rock Blast as a lead cannot really go wrong. Growlithe BST: 350 (55/70/45/70/50/60) - There's a lot of good in this little doge. 350 BST ranks amongst the highest of all Little Cup mons. Intimidate is on itself one of the best abilities in the game. It's a little unfortunate Growlithe has mixed attacks but because of them it in fact has quite a nice of coverage. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 196 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 80 HP (30/31/31/30/31/31 HP Grass) Item: Swift Choice Band Ability: Intimidate Overheat Hidden Power Grass Crunch Double Kick - Overheat is Growlithe's main Hit'n'run move. Hidden Power Grass deals with the Water/Rock types which could switch in for Overheat. Crunch is nice for Psychic/Ghost types if you know there's multiple coming. Double Kick is a nice coverage move but mainly deals nicely with Sturdy Aron. Gulpin BST: 302 (70/43/53/43/53/40) - Gulpin gets nice coverage. That's pretty much all the good you can say about it. Spoiler Dank (tank) Nature: Bold EVs: 196 HP, 252 Defense, 12 Sp. Atk, 12 Sp. Def, 36 Speed Item: Oran Berry Ice Beam Sludge Bomb Shadow Ball Giga Drain - Has really nice coverage over the metagame. Goldeen BST: 320 (45/67/60/35/50/63) - If you feel like RNG is your friend you could try to Waterfall flinch spam your way to victory. Other than that pretty useless. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Speed, 220 Atk, 36 Defense (needs 31 Speed!) Item: Swift Choice Band Waterfall Return Megahorn Bounce - Waterfall is the main Goldeen's spam move. Others are just what is left in Goldeen's movepool. Grimer BST: 325 (80/80/50/40/50/25) - Despite of the alright looking base stats, Grimer is garbage (pun semi-intended). Grimer has plenty of cool moves on the special side while its Attack is double what is special attack is. Spoiler Elemental Punches Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Atk, 196 HP, 36 Def, 36 Sp. Def Item: Life Ball Thunderpunch Fire Punch Ice Punch Giga Drain / Shadow Punch / Return - This set has quite the nice coverage like elemental punches do but the lack of STAB just makes these attacks hit like a baby even with the high base attack of 80. Giga Drain is to prevent getting walled by Onix and Geodude while it can surprise them a little bit. OrangeManiac
Hoothoot BST: 262 (60/30/30/36/56/60) - Hoothoot is just overshadowed by poor base stats while it brings nothing special on the table. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Timid EVs: 236 Sp. Atk, 68 Sp. Def, 196 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Air Cutter Hyper Voice Shadow Ball Psychic - Pretty much the only set Hoothoot can run. Hoppip BST: 250 (35/35/40/35/55/50) - Awful base stats and below average movepool. Thanks but no thanks. Spoiler Double Powder Nature: Bold EVs: 236 HP, 196 Def, 76 Sp. Def Item: Oran Berry Sleep Powder Stun Spore Reflect Giga Drain - Try to get Sleep Powder and as much Stun Spore spread as you can (1 is a miracle, to be honest). Reflect is a cool support move. Horsea BST: 295 (30/40/70/70/25/60) - Basically a worse Omanyte. It sure can sweep with that Rain Boosted STAB Surf but really no point of using over Omanyte in any serious team. Unless you wanna run two Rain Dance sweepers then sure, why not. Spoiler Rain Dance Sweeper Nature: Modest EVs: 200 Sp. Atk, 196 Speed, 36 Defense, 76 Sp. Def (30/31/31/30/31/31 for HP Grass) Item: Oran Berry Rain Dance Surf Ice Beam Hidden Power Grass - Get rain up and start sweeping! Hidden Power Grass is used over Electric mainly due to viability of Chinchou. Modest on rain outspeeds everything except can tie speed with Scarf Elekid and Voltorb. Houndour BST: 330 (45/60/30/80/50/65) - Quite powerful glass cannon but probably just not fast enough. Can punish Scarf/Specs locked Gastly or Abra hard with Pursuit. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 236 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 36 Sp. Def (30/31/31/30/31/31 HP Grass) Item: Swift Choice Band Flamethrower Hidden Power Grass Pursuit Crunch - When a Gastly is damaged, Pursuiting is pretty safe way to finish off the Gastly but when full HP you might need to consider Crunching it. matter what. Flamethrower is the main sweep move while HP Grass picks off water + rock types. Other options: Life Orb set is most certainly a possibility. Igglybuff BST: 210 (90/30/15/40/20/15) - 90 HP stat would be nice...... if it wasn't combined with 15 Defense and 20 Special Defense ranking amongst the worst of all Pokemon. Spoiler Utility Nature: Bold EVs: 36 HP, 236 Defense, 36 Sp. Atk, 196 Special Defense Item: Oran Berry Thunder Wave Flamethrower Hyper Voice Reflect / Light Screen / Counter - Try to get as much Thunder Waves off as you can. Flamethrower and Hyper Voice might finish off some damaged Pokemon. A screen is a nice supporter while Counter can troll hard physical attackers because of the high HP stat Igglybuff has. Kabuto BST: 355 (30/80/90/55/45/55) - Kabuto has loads of options which is probably the best thing about this Pokemon. It can be a Swift Swim sweeper or it can immediately start sweeping with Scarf with that solid 80 base attack. Spoiler Rain Dance Sweeper Nature: Adamant EVs: 36 HP, 196 Attack, 36 Defense, 236 Speed Item: Oran Berry / Life Ball Ability: Swift Swim Rain Dance Waterfall Rock Slide Return - After setting up rain Kabuto outspeeds the whole tier except ties speed with Scarf Elekid and Voltorb. Rain boosted Waterfall hits like a truck and Rock Slide covers nicely whatever resists that. Life Ball can guarantee KOs more easily but after taking damage when setting up it doesn't have left much HP so I recommend Oran Berry over. Return is the last move it has so might as well. Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 36 HP, 196 Attack, 36 Defense, 236 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Ability: Swift Swim / Battle Armor Rock Slide Waterfall Return Thief - If you don't wanna wait before start sweeping. Might catch things off guard. Return and Thief are such awful "coverage" moves but it's all it gets. - When you don't wanna wait to start sweeping Krabby BST: 325 (30/105/90/25/25/50) - Krabby's STAB Crabhammer hits like a truck. As long as you have Water-resistance should be really easy to play against, though. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Adamant EVs: 36 HP, 236 Attack, 36 Defense, 196 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Crabhammer Superpower Return Brick Break - Wait until the late game when you get your opponent's water-resistant Pokemon down and try to sweep with Crabhammer. Rest moves are just what Krabby gets. Larvitar BST: 300 (50/64/50/45/50/41) - Posessing massive loads of weaknesses without a helpful Sturdy ability like Onix and Geodude, Larvitar has a tough time standing out from Ground/Rock-types. Larvitar gets Dragon Dance, though. It might sweep if it gets a free turn to set up. Spoiler Dragon Dance Nature: Jolly EVs: 188 Speed, 244 Attack, 36 HP, 36 Defense Item: Life Ball Dragon Dance Rock Slide Earthquake Crunch / Brick Break / Superpower - Larvitar can outspeed any scarfless Pokemon at +1 so wait for that perfect opportunity to set up and try to sweep. Ledyba BST: 265 (40/20/30/40/80/55) - Ledyba lacks any kind of offensive presence so the only way to utilize one if to take advantage of the 80 special defense and try to set up screens. Spoiler Dual Screens Nature: Calm EVs: 196 HP, 196 Sp. Def, 116 Defense Item: Oran Berry Reflect Light Screen Silver Wind Giga Drain - Try to set up Light Screen while tanking a special hit, then set up a reflect and that's probably the end of a day for Ledyba. Silver Wind is a nice coverage move with STAB power while Giga Drain hits the numerous water and rock types in LC tier. Lileep BST: 355 (66/41/77/61/87/21) - Lileep has very solid defensive stats and Grass + Rock STAB coverage is one of the best you can get in Pokemon. Lileep has also lots of variety and it's one of the rare Pokemon that can possibly even set up sweep in the LC tier. Spoiler Stockpile Nature: Impish EVs: 228 HP, 220 Def, 60 Sp. Def Item: Oran Berry Stockpile Recover Bullet Seed Rock Slide - Stockpile is a great move to try to boost Lileep's defenses to being unable to get 2HKOd and that's where Recover comes in to help. Since most Pokemon in LC tier are highly offense oriented and most of them lack recovery moves doing small damage with Bullet Seed and Rock Slide might be just enough to beat your opponents when you successfully stall them out with Recover and Stockpile. Curse Nature: Careful EVs: 228 HP, 220 Sp. Def, 60 Defense Item: Oran Berry Curse Recover Bullet Seed Rock Slide - Try to find a place to set up Curse and while get to do it, Lileep might become unbreakable from the defensive side and sweep late game. Watch out for specs users which even despite of the high bulk of Lileep can possibly finish it off in two hits. Standard Tank Nature: Calm EVs: 228 HP, 220 Sp. Def, 60 Defense Item: Oran Berry Giga Drain Ancientpower Recover Protect / Hidden Power Dark - Lileep can serve as a great special defensive pivot with Giga Drain + Ancientpower combo which has a great coverage and the 61 Sp. Atk most certainly will leave a mark on opposing switch ins. Those two moves unfortunately lack coverage on Gastly so a super effective move against one is useful. If you don't have one, that's fine. Protect is a great move to always scout opposing Band/Specs users attack so you can switch in safely. Lotad BST: 220 (40/30/30/40/50/30) - Lotad gets Swift Swim, Surf + Giga Drain STAB coverage but nothing much to do with those when your stats are one of the worst in all LC. Spoiler Rain Dance Sweeper Nature: Timid EVs: 196 Speed, 196 Sp. Atk, 36 Def, 36 Sp. Def Item: Life Ball Rain Dance Surf Giga Drain Ice Beam - This is your pseudo Rain Dance counter while having the ability to set up one of your own! Lotad can counter other Swift swimmers with the nice Grass-type + Giga Drain STAB which is sure to beat any Water-types facing you. Machop BST: 305 (70/80/50/35/35/35) - Machop has a nice offensive movepool and 80 base attack but because of it being so easily swept out it needs Choice Scarf to really pressure other Pokemon. And this makes Machop really predictable and in addition every other scarfer outspeeds it. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Speed, 196 Atk, 36 HP, 36 Defense Item: Swift Choice Band Superpower / Brick Break Earthquake Thief Fire Punch - Machop is lucky enough to outspeed every non Scarfed Pokemon with Jolly max speed. 80 Attack is quite nice to cause some massive pressure to your opponents. Superpower hits amazingly hard but being locked to it sucks for lowering your attack but I'd argue it still beats Brick Break. Earthquake is just amazing overall coverage + damage move, Thief deals with Gastly and Fire Punch covers stuff like Pineco, Exeggcute and so on. Magikarp BST: 200 (20/10/55/15/20/80) - I mean, I know the purpose of competitive battling is to win but you need to have some mercy to your opponent so you might think to yourself whether using this god is ethically right. Spoiler CB ReversalFlail Nature: Jolly EVs: 196 Atk, 196 Speed Item: Choice Band Tackle Flail Hydro Pump Reversal - Calculate the damage so you can switch in to leave Magikarp at 1 HP and start hammering away with Choice Band Reversal or Flail, whichever fits the situation better. Magnemite BST: 325 (25/35/70/95/55/45) - With Sturdy, sky high 95 Special Attack and Agility you can say Magnemite is a very threatening force in the LC that can OHKO lots of things with STAB Thunderbolt. Spoiler Agility Nature: Modest EVs: Max Speed Max Sp. Atk (I'm not gonna write exact numbers because no way your Mag is 5x31) Item: Oran Berry Agility Thunderbolt Hidden Power Ground Signal Beam / Substitute / Thunder / Swagger - Set up Agility, live a hit with Sturdy and hopefully activate Oran Berry. After this start sweeping with Thunderbolt. Hidden Power Ground is the best coverage move containing other Magnemites, Chinchou while doing enough damage to Onix, Geodude and bulky Arons to OHKO them (except if you get Sturdied). Last move selection is pretty hard as Signal Beam is pretty much the only move it gets and it has alright Grass coverage but Substitute can be a nice move to scout your opponent's move once when you don't know if it switches or it can annoy hard a CB Quick Attack locked Pokemon. Thunder is nice if you need extra power and Swagger... well, it's a Swagger. Makuhita BST: 237 (72/60/30/20/30/25) - What seems like an alright bulky Pokemon with wide movepool and nice ability Thick Fat just simply gets overshadowed by abysmal base stats. Spoiler Sturdy Counter lead Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 196 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 Defense, 36 Special Defense Item: Oran Berry Ability: Thick Fat Fake Out Superpower Fire Punch Thunderpunch - The best thing about Makuhita is the ability to counter Sturdy leads by Faking Out them from full HP and then hitting them hard with STAB Superpower. Fire Punch is the best overall coverage move covering likes of Pineco and Exeggcute, Thunderpunch just hits Water and Flying nicely. Mankey BST: 305 (40/80/35/35/45/70) - Mankey is fast, Mankey is furious. If it had any priority it could be decent enough Life Orb sweeper or if it had a Two-hit attack move it could be a nice Sturdy counter. Unluckily Mankey has neither. That makes Mankey just another Choice Scarf sweeper which doesn't stand out much. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly/Adamant EVs: 196 Speed, 196 Attack, 116 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Brick Break Earthquake Fire Punch Thunderpunch - Mankey gets an alright coverage so predict right and you might do some work with this. OrangeManiac
Mareep BST: 280 (55/40/40/65/45/35) - Where as Mareep's daddy Ampharos shows that sheep can be deadly, Mareep is mostly just a sheep. Spoiler Supporter Nature: Bold EVs: 236 HP, 196 Defense, 76 Special Defense. Item: Oran Berry Reflect Light Screen Thunder Wave / HP Grass Thunderbolt - Mareep has a surprisinly good ability of Static allowing it to Paralyze 30% of the contact hits which is a surprisinly huge support as itself. With the best luck can Mareep first Static its opponent, set up a screen or two and then even try to attack. Since Mareep is primarily a supporter having Thunder Wave is important but if you feeling lucky enough of your Static abusing you can prevent from getting countered with Hidden Power Grass. Meowth BST: 290 (40/45/35/40/40/90) - First look at Meowth doesn't give a very good impression of the Pokemon. Your first thoughts may be that 290 BST isn't really great, the movepool is below average and 45 base Attack just doesn't sound like enough to sweep with. However, Meowth's best thing is its sky high 90 speed losing only to Elekid and Voltorb. But what is even better is Meowth's STAB Fake Out which is a very valuable move in this fast paced meta filled with Swift Choice Band users. Spoiler Meowth? That's right! Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 36 Def, 36 HP Item: Silk Scarf / Oran Berry / Life Ball Fake Out Return / Double-Edge Bite Water Pulse - Fake Out + Return is a deadly combo. Since the most work you do is with Normal attacks, Silk Scarf makes a lot of sense. In addition Fake Out + Water Pulse beats Onix most of the time. Life Ball meanwhile does not make you kill Aron with Water Pulse. Bite is there to beat Gastly. Mudkip BST: 310 (50/70/50/50/50/40) - I herd you liek Mudkips? Well, even if you did it's probably leave this one out from your team because it honestly just isn't great compared to the many water-types in LC. Spoiler SubSalacEndeavor Nature: Jolly EVs: 196 Speed, 196 Attack, 116 Defense Item: Salac Berry Substitute Endeavor Waterfall Superpower - Mudkip has quite an alright move it can abuse and that's Endeavor. Even though Mudkip's speed is bad, with Jolly nature is just enough to outspeed the whole tier at +1. The optimal Mudkip's HP stat is 21 to pull this against bulky Pokemon to assure they will be put at 1 HP. Your optimal way to use this set is to eat a physical attack, Substitute yourself to Salac and then behind a Substitute you first Endeavor and then kill your opponent while after killing stay at the top of the speed of all Pokemon. Just hope for no priority 'n stuff. Works best late game in 2v2 situations. Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 196 Speed, 196 Attack, 116 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Waterfall Superpower Rock Slide Double-Edge - Mudkip's base attack is alright. Therefor it can do some late game sweeping with Scarf as it outspeeds the metagame with Swift Choice Band. Natu BST: 320 (40/50/45/70/45/70) - The son of a god bird. Natu hold a very respectable special sweeping stats of 70 Sp. Atk and Speed while holding one of the widest covering special movepools. In a speed filled metagame its 70 speed just might not be enough in this massive competition. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Timid EVs: 200 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 36 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Psychic Heat Wave Hidden Power Fighting Signal Beam - The standard special sweeping set for Natu. HP Fight is the go to Hidden Power for 4x Aron, super-effective on Houndour and overall great coverage. Other options: You can run the same set with Life Ball. Nidoran-F BST: 275 (55/47/52/40/40/41) - Where as Nidoran-M is bad, the female version somehow happens to be even worse. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Timid EVs: 188 Speed, 196 Sp. Atk, 20 Defense, 36 Special Defense, 76 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Sludge Bomb Ice Beam Double Kick Thunderbolt - Alrightish coverage which on a good day might kill something. Nidoran-M BST: 273 (46/57/40/40/40/50) - Nidoran M is just flat out bad. It gets an alright coverage sure but it simply can just do nothing with them because of the abysmal stats. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Hasty EVs: 196 Sp. Atk, 196 Speed, 64 Attack, 36 Sp. Def Item: Swift Choice Band Sludge Bomb Ice Beam Double Kick Thunderbolt - Alrightish coverage which on a good day might kill something. Nincada BST: 266 (31/45/90/30/30/40) - Nincada is so disastrously bad at everything that I don't even know what to write about this. I honestly don't. Spoiler Seriously, its moves are so awful that even writing a joke moveset feels wrong. Oddish BST: 320 (45/50//55/75/65/30) - Oddish can create a threatening Sunny Day tandem with Bellsprout. Oddish in general is a bit more reliable Pokemon to set up sun because of its higher defenses and therefor high chance of living a hit. Even when Oddish is down if sun is up Bellsprout can come in for more havoc. Spoiler Sunny Beam Nature: Timid EVs: 240 Sp. Atk, 200 Speed (30 Sp. Atk and 30 Speed from HP Fire) Item: Oran Berry / Life Ball Sunny Day Solarbeam Hidden Power Fire Sludge Bomb - Set up and sun and try to sweep while it's up! Oran Berry gives Oddish protection from priority but Life Ball might be needed to get the necessary KOs. Onix BST: 385 (35/45/160/30/45/70) - I thought Little Cup Pokemon were supposed to be little? Onix is one of the most threatening forces of the Little Cup tier thanks to its Sturdy and therefor protection from being OHKOd from special sweepers (unless taken Spikes damage). Onix's speed is also really good and it's faster than other Sturdy Pokemon by a mile making it more likely to get 2 hits off as a Sturdy Lead. Onix has really abysmal 45 base attack but with Choice Band and STAB Earthquake and Rock Blast it can still OHKO numerous Pokemon. Spoiler Sturdy Lead Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Attack, 96 Speed, 76 HP Item: Choice Band/Swift Choice Band Earthquake Rock Blast Iron Tail Explosion - Onix works best as an offensive lead with Sturdy. Choice Band is kinda needed to get a OHKO off, however Scarf might be even more deadly if you face a fast lead weak to either Rock Blast or Earthquake - you might still be at full HP after turn 1! Iron Tail and Explosion are meh moves but all Onix really gets. Explosion is an alright move when you expect a Pokemon that isn't resisting Normal but resists EQ or Rock Blast and you need it down. Paras BST: 285 (35/70/55/45/55/25) - If there is anything good to be said about Paras is that it has access to the best move in the game - Spore. As easily swept away as a piece of sand. Spoiler Spore + Agility Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Speed, 196 Attack, 76 HP Item: Oran Berry Spore Agility Bullet Seed Return - The idea of a fast Paras might feel weird as it is one of the slowest Pokemon from all the Pokemon made ever. Spore, however gives a free turn for the Agility set up and after that Paras can in fact outspeed most of the metagame. Just watch out for those Grass-types. Phanpy BST: 330 (90/60/60/40/40/40) - If only Phanpy has its daddy's ability Sturdy it could be somewhat okayish. Pickup just makes Phanpy in every possible way one of the worst Ground-types in LC. Spoiler Physical "tank" Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Attack, 116 HP, 116 Defense, 36 Speed, 36 Special Defense Item: Oran Berry Earthquake Superpower Rock Slide Protect / Rapid Spin - First 3 moves are for the damage, last is just a fill in. Protect is nice to scout opposing special attacker's move while Rapid Spin can remove spikes from your Sturdy mons. Pichu BST: 205 (20/40/15/35/35/60) - Better wait for your evolution and your Light Ball because at this point you're literally nothing. Spoiler Ouch it hurts! >.< Nature: Jolly EVs: 196 Attack, 196 Speed, 118 HP Item: Choice Band Volt Tackle Thunderpunch Surf Iron Tail / Return - Volt Tackle can cause some OHKOs with Choice Band despite of Pichu's below average attack. Thunderpunch can sweep late game while Surf covers the Rock/Grounders. Iron Tail and Return is the selection of either coverage or accuracy. OrangeManiac
Pidgey BST: 251 (40/45/40/35/35/56) - I asked RacheLucario for description for this one. Her answer was simple: "OP." Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 36 HP, 236 Attack, 228 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Wing Attack Return Pursuit Steel Wing - Sweep your way to victory! (I guess.) Pineco BST: 290 (50/65/90//35/35/15) - The bane of Sturdy mons. Pineco's main niche in the metagame is to be actually a viable Spikes setter while having the stats to work as a physical defensive pivot. Spoiler Spikes lead Nature: Impish EVs: 196 HP, 196 Defense, 76 Attack Item: Oran Berry Spikes Earthquake Pin Missile Protect - Set up Spikes and destroy the invulnerability of Sturdy Pokemon. If your opponent is a multi-hit Rock lead you might want to Protect and switch out. Pineco's surprisingly good attack of 65 makes Pineco work as a good defensive pivot which can punish with a powerful Earthquake or STAB Pin Missile. Poliwag BST: 300 (40/50/40/40/40/90) - Poliwag has a really notable speed which loses only to Elekid and Voltorb. Poliwag's attacks however are very lacking but late game it can sweep when HP gets low. Spoiler Life Ball Nature: Timid EVs: 196 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 40 HP, 36 Sp. Def, 36 Def (HP Grass 30/x/31/30/31/31) Item: Life Ball Surf / Hydro Pump Ice Beam Hidden Power Grass Psychic - Standard late game sweeping set for Poliwag. The coverage is nice. Surf is the primary STAB but if you wanna surprise your opponents a bit further you could run Hydro Pump for more power with the cost of accuracy. Hidden Power Grass is mainly there for extra punch for Chinchou. Other options: Belly Drum set is an option but not sure if I wanna recommend it with the huge number of Sturdy mons and priority users. Poochyena BST: 220 (35/55/35/30/30/35) - Poochyena has no moves, has no stats, has no anything. It doesn't even have a Pursuit to trap things. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Speed, 236 Attack, 36 Sp. Def Item: Swift Choice Band Crunch Return Iron Tail Rock Smash Porygon BST: 395 (65/60/70/85/75/40) - Porygon's in every way is a beast in the LC tier. Not only does it possess amazing base stats but it has probably the most annoying move combo in the whole Little Cup tier - Thunder Wave + Recover. In addition Porygon has amazing movepool and with Agility can turn into a sweeping machine despite its low speed. Spoiler Annoying parahax staller Nature: Calm/Bold EVs: You need to showdown calc this yourself because no way you're gonna have 5x 31 Porygon. Boost defenses and HP as much as you can. Item: Oran Berry Thunder Wave Recover Tri Attack Psychic - Thunder Wave your opponent to paralysis and Recover until your opponents gets parahaxed and when it does start to do damage on it. Tri Attack is the main go to STAB for Porygon and with Psychic you cover pretty much the whole tier except Aron. Psychic isn't the greatest coverage move per se, but it is very needed because of how threatening Gastly is. Agility Nature: Modest EVs: invest until you reach max Speed and Sp. Atk and rest on HP if there's anything left Item: Oran Berry Agility Tri Attack Thunderbolt Psychic - Agility once and start sweeping! Porygon's 85 Sp. Atk is often enough to finish off lots of Pokemon late game with its coverage. Psyduck BST: 320 (50/52/48/65/50/55) - Psyduck's main niche in LC metagame is its ability Cloud Nine, which stops weather out cold and can really troll hard especially Sunny Beamers for being locked to their 2 turn Solarbeam when Psyduck switches in. In general, Psyduck's stats are fairly up to par and it has a nice movepool. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 240 Sp. Atk, 236 Speed, 24 Attack (30/31/31/30/31/31 HP Grass) Item: Swift Choice Band Ability: Cloud Nine Surf / Hydro Pump Ice Beam Hidden Power Grass Cross Chop / Brick Break - Psyduck gets a nice looking scarf sweeping set which has coverage over the metagame. Surf/Hydro Pump and CC/BB selections are whether you like raw power over the chance of missing. Psyduck's offensive stats probably might need the risk sometimes to go for the extra damage instead accuracy to get KOs. Hidden Power Grass is there to annoy Chinchou mainly but as well as other water-types. Ralts BST: 198 (28/25/25/45/35/40) - Ralts just doesn't have the stats to be viable enough. Better leave this innocent looking thing out of the battlefield. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Timid EVs: 240 Sp. Atk, 196 Speed, 52 HP (31/x/31/30/30/31 HP Ground) Item: Swift Choice Band Ability: Trace Psychic Thunderbolt Hidden Power Ground Signal Beam - Ralts gets alright coverage moves with STAB Psychic and Thunderbolt. HP Ground covers Houndour and Magnemite while Signal Beam hits Psychics nicely. Remoraid BST: 300 (35/65/35/65/35/65) - Remoraid is such a yolo Pokemon. Hustle makes it hit hard but often can make it hit absolutely nothing. It gets great coverage over the metagame, though. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Naive EVs: 236 Sp. Atk 252 Speed Item: Swift Choice Band Water Spout Bullet Seed Ice Beam Surf - Water Spout full HP hits like an absolute truck when it hits. If it hits. Sturdy leads aren't even safe from Remoraid because of Bullet Seed, a move which 4x effective on Onix shuts it out cold. Ice Beam is there for coverage and Surf is the go to STAB when not at full HP. Rhyhorn BST: 345 (80/85/95/30/30/25) - Where as Onix, Aron and Geodude gained tons of viability with the addition of Sturdy mechanics Rhyhorn just became outclassed by them by a mile. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Speed, 236 Atk, 36 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Ability: Rock Head Earthquake Rock Blast Double-Edge Megahorn - Despite Rhyhorn's pitiful 25 speed it reaches 19 speed with Swift Choice Band when Jolly, being only outsped by Elekid and Voltorb. Rhyhorn gets a wrecking movepool because it gets Megahorn in addition to QuakeBlast coverage. Edited October 28, 2016 by OrangeManiac Kyokatsu, MisakiMei, SweeTforU and 1 other 4 Link to comment
OrangeManiac
Sandshrew BST: 300 (50/75/85/20/30/40) - Sandshrew packs a respectable physical defense and offensive power, however the low speed and low special defense forces it to be just another Choice Scarfer hoping to do damage before fainting. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Jolly EVs: 236 Atk, 196 Speed, 36 Sp. Def, 40 HP Item: Swift Choice Band Earthquake Rock Slide Brick Break Iron Tail / Rapid Spin - Sandshrew's speed is just enough to outspeed non-scarf Elekid and Voltorb making it a decent enough Choice Scarfer. Sandshrew's movepool is fairly narrow, yet enough to pull off a decent enough coverage moveset with the above one. Rapid Spin is an option if you have multiple Sturdy mons you want to keep at full HP when switched in. Seedot BST: 220 (40/40/50/30/30/30) - Seedot's abysmal base stats kinda ruin any hope this Pokemon could get. Spoiler SunnyBeam Nature: Timid EVs: 200 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 36 HP, 36 Def, 36 Sp. Def (31/EVEN/31/30/31/30 HP Fire) Item: Oran Berry Sunny Day Solarbeam Hidden Power Fire Giga Drain - The best thing about Seedot is its Chrolophyll ability. With this you can try to sweep with Sunny Beam, as Solarbeam and HP Fire have a decent enough of coverage over the metagame. Seel BST: 320 (65/45/55/45/70/45) - Seel isn't amazing but it isn't terrible either. It can tank neutral hits from everything and hitting that STAB Surf/Ice Beam will cause notable damage. Spoiler Tank/Sturdy Counter lead Nature: Calm EVs: 232 HP, 76 Defense, 196 Special Defense Item: Oran Berry Surf Ice Beam Icy Wind Signal Beam / Fake Out - With Calm nature, 65 HP and 70 Sp. Def Seel can take some notable hits on the special side. Surf and Ice Beam are the main STABs, Icy Wind is nice to first damage opponent and lower its speed lower than Seel's and then finish it off with the main STAB move. Signal Beam is the last coverage move Seel gets. Fake Out is an option to serve as a Sturdy counter lead. Sentret BST: 216 (35/46/34/35/45/20) - Sentret is outclassed by everything in everything. You think this thing would be even a standard "fast" normal-sweeper but its speed really is 20 which is one of the worst in LC. Spoiler Silk Scarf Nature: Adamant EVs: 228 Attack, 236 HP, 4 Defense, 36 Special Defense Item: Silk Scarf Fake Out Return Ice Punch Fire Punch - Not much to say. Fake Out your opponent and hope the second hits KOs your opponent while taking massive damage. Shellder BST: 305 (30/65/100/45/25/40) - Shellder has a very respectable defense of 100. Makes it a decent enough of a Sturdy Counter as well as a physical check to things. Spoiler Tank Nature: Impish EVs: 196 Defense, 76 Attack, 196 HP, 36 Speed Item: Oran Berry Waterfall Icicle Spear Protect / Rapid Spin Rock Blast / Rapid Spin - Shellder arguably is better a physical sweeper. Icicle Spear is a nice multi-hit move while Waterfall serves as the main damage STAB move. Protect is nice to scout opposing moves before switching out. Rock Blast is an overall nice coverage move. Rapid Spin is helpful if you run Sturdy mons. Shroomish BST: 295 (60/40/60/40/60/35) - Shroomish has access to the best move in the game - Spore. With this Shroomish can get a Substitute up and start Subseeding and annoy the heck out of its opponent. Spoiler Subseed Nature: Jolly EVs: 196 Attack, 236 Speed, 36 HP, 36 Defense Item: Leftovers Spore Substitute Leech Seed Bullet Seed - Spore your opponent, Substitute on the expected switch and then Leech Seed it and spam Substitute until it's close enough to get KOd. Leftovers is used for maximum HP recovery in addition to Leech Seed so you can get maximum number of Substitutes off. Slakoth BST: 280 (60/60/60/35/35/30) - Truant makes Slakoth one of the worst Pokemon ever made. Where as Truant already cripples Slaking a lot making it worthless in basically every metagame ever despite of its huge 670 BST - imagine giving a Pokemon a below average stats and Truant. Yeah, that's how bad Slakoth is. Spoiler Choice Band Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Atk, 196 HP, 36 Defense, 76 Special Defense Item: Choice Band Return Fire Punch Ice Punch Brick Break - Hit'n'run with Choice Band makes you nullify the Truant as much as you can. Still sucks. Slowpoke BST: 315 (90/65/65/40/40/15) - Slowpoke just doesn't pack the power what it has with a Shellder on its head/tail. However, without one it qualifies as an unevolved Pokemon and therefor eligible for LC! In Little Cup environment Slowpoke is fairly alright mainly due to being access to Thunder Wave and Slack Off, making it play around with Slowpoke's low speed. Spoiler Physical tank Nature: Adamant EVs: 156 Attack, 236 Defense, 36 HP, 36 Sp. Def Item: Oran Berry Thunder Wave Slack Off Waterfall Earthquake - The reason why Defense is more invested is to get Slowpoke on 26 HP stat so it can get 13 HP Slack Offs. Basically you want to Thunder Wave your opponent, Slack Off until parahax and then start to punish your opponent with either a STAB Waterfall of Earthquake. Shuppet BST: 295 (44/75/35/63/33/43) - There's nothing spooky about Shuppet. Just one slap on this Ghost and it's down. It's not even a mixed sweeper because of absolutely requiring Scarf to get a hit off. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Hasty EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 236 Speed, 12 Sp. Def (31/30/30/30/30/30 HP Fight) Item: Swift Choice Band Shadow Ball Return HP Fighting Thunderbolt - The moveset to maximize the coverage for Shuppet. Might be hard to sweep with one move due to Choice Scarf but you might as well try. Skitty BST: 260 (50/45/45/35/35/50) - Skitty is just another normal-type while bringing nothing new to the table. Despite being cute, I guess. Hope for that Cute Charm to activate to have your opponent be too in love to attack this poor thing. Spoiler Mixed "sweeper" Nature: Naive EVs: 196 Speed, 236 Attack, 76 Defense Item: Silk Scarf / Life Ball Fake Out Return Water Pulse Faint Attack - Skitty packs Fake Out + Return combo, which is always nice. Water Pulse deals with Rock/Grounders and Faint Attack is the last coverage move Skitty gets to deal with Ghosts, like Gastly switching in. Slugma BST: 250 (40/40/40/70/40/20) - If Slugma ever gets a hit off it can punish with that decent powered Flamethrower. Spoiler Tank Nature: Modest EVs: 200 HP, 200 Sp. Atk, 36 Defense, 36 Special Defense (30/x/31/30/31/31 HP Grass) Item: Recover Flamethrower Hidden Power Grass Ancientpower Recover - Hope your opponents are paralyzed so you can feed off that Recover and wait for parahax and possibly deal with your opponent. Smoochum BST: 305 (45/30/15/85/65/65) - Smoochum gets a respectable 85 Special Attack and Psychic + Ice Beam STABs while getting a decent enough of speed. The biggest downfall of Smoochum is that it gets OHKOd by pretty much any physical attack, even priorities. Spoiler Choice Scarf Nature: Timid EVs: 240 Sp. Atk, 236 Speed (31(x/31/30/30/31 HP Ground) Item: Swift Choice Band Psychic Ice Beam Hidden Power Ground Signal Beam - Because of Smoochum's low speed it's better to get the first hit off. HP Ground is for Arons and Houndour which otherwise could tank anything Smoochum has. Pick your strongest move and this might sweep late game. Especially Scarf Ice Beam is a great late-game sweeping move. Snorunt BST: 300 (50/50/50/50/50/50) - Snorunt gets a very narrow movepool but with the access of Spikes and Light Screen it can turn to an alright supporter. The main issue is that if your opponent lead happens to be the Sturdy mon you're trying to Spike from full HP. Spoiler Support Nature: Calm EVs: 196 HP, 196 Sp. Def, 36 Sp. Atk, 36 Defense Item: Oran Berry Ice Beam Spikes Light Screen Protect - Set up a quick spikes hoping to cripple opposing Sturdy mons from full HP, then set up a Screen and most likely you're done there. Protect if you face an opposing Sturdy CB mon and switch to your counter against one. Snubbull BST: 300 (60/80/50/40/40/30) - Snubbull has a nice ability of Intimidate which helps it deal with numerous physical attackers. Spoiler Physical Attacker Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 Atk, 196 HP, 116 Defense Item: Choice Band / Life Ball Ability: Intimidate Return Earthquake Brick Break / Superpower Crunch - Snubbull gets a nice punch with its nice attack and nice coverage movepool. This moveset is to get the maximum coverage over the notable threats in LC tier. You can be both Choice Bander and Life Ball user. I probably recommend Choice Band because even that Life Ball's HP loss is small, getting that makes you pretty much always get only 1 hit off max. Snubbull is nice for hit'n'running with CBing also with its Intimidate ability. Edited October 29, 2016 by OrangeManiac MisakiMei, SweeTforU, Mike and 1 other 4 Link to comment
OrangeManiac
Spoink BST: 330 (60/25/35/70/80/60) - Very underutilized Little Cup Pokemon. Its stats are very much up to par, its ability Thick Fat is even better. Gives a limited damage to two of the most common coverage offensive types, Ice and Fire. Spoiler Special Sweeper Nature: Timid EVs: 196 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 116 Speed Item: Life Ball / Swift Choice Band Ability: Thick Fat Psychic Shadow Ball Hidden Power Ground / Fight Calm Mind / Shock Wave - Spoink gets a very decent sweeping set. You can either Life Ball this set or Scarf it, whichever you feel more comfortable with. If you run Life Ball you can easily CM up for extra damage. Sunkern BST: 180 (30/30/30/30/30/30) - If you wanna score some style points by sweeping your opponent with the lowest BST Pokemon from everything ever made, this is your Pokemon. Spoiler Sunny Beam Nature: Timid EVs: 200 Speed, 200 Sp. Atk, 36 HP, 36 Defense, 36 Special Defense (31/EVEN/31/30/31/30 HP Fire) Item: Oran Berry Sunny Day Solarbeam Sludge Bomb Hidden Power Fire - Set up Sunny Day and start to sweep! Wait for that crit and the chance to humiliate your opponent by sweeping him with this thing. For extra support you might have something else to put up Sunny Day for you. Tentacool BST: 335 (40/40/35/50/100/70) - Poor Tentacool. It almost looks like it has a special defensive niche in Little Cup. However, the fact that pretty much every special attacker in Little Cup has a super effective move against Tentacool, often even a STAB one. Tentacool's speed make it an alright sweeper but 40 Attack and 50 Special Attack are pedestrian even in Little Cup environment. Spoiler Life Orb Sweeper Nature: Timid EVs: 196 Sp. Atk, 196 Speed, 76 Defense, 36 HP Item: Life Ball Surf Sludge Bomb Giga Drain / Rapid Spin Ice Beam / Rapid Spin - Surf and Sludge Bomb are the main damage STABs to cause the main overall damage while Giga Drain sure is a nice move to hit stuff hard and get even some HP back. Ice Beam has nice coverage on Dragon and the rare Grass-types, while as Rapid Spin is an option if you wanna keep your Sturdy Pokemon at full HP. Same here, tho LC just looks broken af from what I've been watching in officials I tried LC in gen6 and it looks much smoother (ofc there's more moves, items, abilities, pokes, etc) so there's obviously some decisions to be made here by TC Oh and yeah ty Orange for taking your time with this, you bae Link to comment

Little Cup will never be exactly a balanced tier, there's just way too little room to work with to make it one. I think as little moves as possible is required (heck, I dont even agree with Diglett ban even though everyone laughed how much it pwned). Buuut I think tiering discussion should go on a separate thread. LifeStyle 1 Link to comment

athelstan
Are the ev calculations still correct if u train your pokemon till lvl 50 or higher but then gets rescaled to lvl 5? It would be the same as if u train it till lvl 5? Link to comment

It would be the same as if u train it till lvl 5? Yes, it doesn't matter whether you are level 89 or level 5 when you put the tournament mode on. If 196 EVs on level 5 makes your stat 16 it will do the same when you have a tournament mode on with your whatever level comp. Edited November 4, 2016 by OrangeManiac athelstan 1 Link to comment

Reveal hidden contents Supporter Nature: Bold EVs: 236 HP, 196 Defense, 76 Special Defense. Hide contents Meowth? You mixed up the Speed and Atk EVs for this, it needs 196 Speed. 236 Atk :) Link to comment
