PokeMMO Account Management

cerealbrand

Question

As I've seen many PokeMMO players asking for some sort of PokeMMO account management such as email change/Character Deletion, etc... I really think there should be an advancement in our actual PokeMMO account such as there is one for our Forums Account. I think one main feature that should be added, is the ability to change our email if we know our previous one to confirm we're really who we say we are because if it works for the forums, there should be something familiar like that for PokeMMO accounts.  For many people, they have migrated on to another account but still have that one email they used to create PokeMMO that is useless for anything else and remembering the password for multiple emails could be a pain and for myself, I would really love to have my PokeMMO account linked to a email that i primary use.  I think that something like the Forum Account Management is really neat and something like that would be great for our actual PokeMMO account. Also the ability to delete an account that you no longer use to clear up a bit of server space(If that is a thing) because as for myself and maybe for many other players, have made accounts in the past that they no longer use and would like to get rid of. For those who don't know there previous email addresses, there should be some sort of Security question or App that sends us a confirmation code that only we have access to on our phones, but for those of us who know our previous emails, could get a simple confirmation email  (such as the "Forgot Password" email we receive to change our password)to migrate over to our new email such as the Forums allow us to do.

I know this was kind of long but thanks for reading!

All major email providers have functionality that allows you to forward emails to a different address. I've used this myself in the past to consolidate emails so that I do not miss important messages.

Being able to simply change your account email brings up security issues like someone managing to get hold of your email address and game account password. If they were to know those two things they could easily transfer your account to an email they control and you would have no recourse at all.

Well at least players should be allowed to delete characters. It does not cost anything and there will be less accounts made only for alt run this way(healthier for server). Makeover/name change ticket will be always valued because players can use them to correct their character without losing any progress in story/without losing their boxes/items/money/time spend etc.

If someone were to get a hold of BOTH your email and password then that's simply on you As PokeMMO has very secure servers(as so they say). Someone who has been playing for years should be able to update their email by simply sending an email to their current one and migrate over to the newer one. If someone were to know your email and password, they could simply change the password of your current email but this new feature being implemented could help long time players update there email with a whole different security system/password. Like I said previously; if it works for the PokeMMO forums and many larger providers such as Facebook, it should also work for PokeMMO accounts. If you allow players to update emails, it allows for players to be updated as quick as possible when a password change or any account change is taking place right through their phone(Because many use their MAIN(Updated) emails for many other things such as their phones) but only using that one email they made 4 years ago for PokeMMO would result in never getting that notification/alert of any change in account settings.

Thanks for reading.

There is a difference between IP Boards and the gameserver. IP Boards is the software used for the forums.  The dev team did not develop the forum software. As I said before, a more secure way to ensure you always have access to the game is to forward emails from the account you signed up with to your primary account. By doing that you always have access to it from a centralized address.
