They last longer and the idea of chance is truly random, rather than just a huge letdown because you brought Machamp in against an Alakazam.

That's not true, some pokemons are incredibly good in 1vs1 and others are not.

It's still gambling but not 50/50 because the goal here is to boost your chances by running an interesting 1vs1 pokemon.

The other goal is having fun but not sure that you will understand this one...
