Popular Post DoubleJ
*NOTE* This gym will officially open as the PSL season ends. Everything in this thread is subject to change before we officially open our gym. For general information about the 8 gym challenge, have a look at 8 Gym Challenge "yo yo" Welcome to the gym of the number one competitive team in the game. [LYLE] KingCheerios have won an unprecedented 10 team tournaments and hold the record for the most consecutive wins at 4. This gym consists of some of the best competitive players in PokeMMO and will be a true challenge for anyone willing to take a shot at the most coveted badge in PokeMMO: the Crowned Cheerio. Members of this gym have trained in the Himalayas, earned countless accolades, and have even dictated over competitive play itself! [LYLE] is not only the toughest gym you'll encounter, but also the most battle hardened and true. So prepare yourself, you only get one opportunity for this elite badge. If you think you have what it takes to challenge our gym and earn the Crowned Cheerio, this is your opportunity. Simply post your IGN in the comments section here and follow the rules below. Anyone that successfully defeats the [LYLE] gym will earn the Crowned Cheerio badge and will have it added to their trainer card. How to Challenge: *** For those that want a text wall [spoiler] A trainer will challenge our gym and list two tiers of their choice (either PokeMMO OU, UU, NU, or Doubles) To advance and compete against the [LYLE] Gymleader KingBowser, they must defeat four [LYLE] members consecutively, without a loss The members that the player will face in his or her challenge will be determined by [LYLE] and must compete in one of the challenger's two chosen tiers If the challenger loses, he must wait one week to challenge the [LYLE] Gym again Losing a second attempt at this gym will result in an additional week added on to his or her cooldown, meaning if you lose on your 2nd try, you now have to wait two weeks to challenge this gym again. This increase in cooldown occurs with every loss. If you lose on your 3rd attempt, you must wait 3 weeks and on your 4th try, you must wait 4 weeks. The cooldown is capped at 4 weeks. A player with all of the other seven badges in the "8 Gym Challenge" will be able to automatically challenge KingBowser in a tier of KingBowser's choosing KingBowser retains the right to permit or deny any rematch, should the challenger lose If KingBowser denies an outright rematch, then the player must defeat four members consecutively to challenge him once again, regardless if he or she has the other seven gym badges KingBowser also retains the right to choose any PokeMMO tier, regardless of the challenger's previous request at the start of this challenge [/spoiler] Enjoy. [LYLE] KingCheerios Gym KingBowser (Gym Leader, 0-0): Prefers OU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. KingBowser is currently semi-retired from competitive play since he has found more joy watching teammates get wins than actually playing himself. MetaGame is just too stale, but in his prime KingBowser was known as the best player in this game. Raaidn (Member, 4-0): Prefers UU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. Raaidn is an incredible player and has found success in nearly any format that PokeMMO has offered. He is arguably the best all around player in the game today. NikhilR (Member, 1-2): Prefers NU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. NikhilR is one of the best players in this game and a constant threat in any tier. To add to Nik's resume, he is a regular competitor for LYLE in the team tournament and has helped us to multiple team tournament championships. DoubleJ (Member, 4-2): Prefers UU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. DoubleJ is the previous UU Summer Ball Champion and is an avid member of the competitive community. Artemiseta (Member, 0-1): Prefers Doubles, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. Artemiseta is a wild player that can pull out wins when you least expect it. He is also a guru of the Doubles meta and a wizard when it comes to team building. yangsam (Member, 1-3): Prefers UU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. Yangsam is a creative wonder that is almost impossible to scout. His teams vary from match to match and this surprise factor has earned him a spot as one of the best in this game. KaynineXL (Member, 3-2): Prefers NU, but is capable of requesting a match in OU or Doubles as well. Kay is the bright and shining member of [LYLE] that everyone adores. To add, he is also an up and coming superstar in the NU world and is a true challenge for most. DestructX (Member, 1-0): Prefers UU, but is capable of requesting a match in any tier. DestructX has been around for quite some time and his trail of success has proven that he isn't a pushover. He is a respected member of [LYLE] and an all around good guy. Be prepared for a well thought out team design when you challenge this man. eggroll (Member, 0-0): Prefers OU, and really doesn't do much else except murder you with Dumpring, his prized Metronome pokemon. eggroll is one of the OG's of [LYLE] and one of the first recruits for this team. He was and still is the heart and soul of [LYLE], so if you want to challenge a real old school member of our team, here is your chance. Kanzo (Member, 2-0): Prefers OU, and really doesn't do much else except maybe UU if you catch him on a good day. Kanzo is a previously undefeated UU player in the PSL and has multiple official wins since he started playing PokeMMO oh so long again. Frag
''To challenge our gym leader you must either earn the other 7 badges of the "8 Gym Challenge" or defeat 5 members of the [LYLE] gym. '' This shouldn't be allowed, every gym is independent of each other, but this way you are putting your gym above the others, I could add as a rule to battle aw gym ''you must defeat the others 7 gym leaders 1st'' or defeat 5 Aw members, so the first requirement won't make sense. Gunthug
I think it could easily be restructured to avoid controversy. Ie: You must battle 5 lyle members to challenge the gym leader. However, if you've already collected the other 7 badges, you may challenge bowser immediately. Eggplant, KaynineXL, DoctorPBC and 1 other 4 Link to comment

KaynineXL
sure, then nobody gets a badge. How does nobody get a badge? You can just beat the trainers then beat Bower? The only difference is, if you have managed to beat the other gyms you get a free pass to Bowser. I really don't see the problem, or are you asking for us to lower the trainer count? OrangeManiac
It's fine if you consider yourself the best team in the game and all but having some teams being "the final bosses" just makes the whole Gym Leader Challenge less easy to run. There could be some gyms with the overflow of challengers first and when people get their badges in the end there would be massive amount of people trying to reach "the final boss". In addition, we don't want a pointless debates of who gets to be the final gym so I think for consistency reasons it might be better to take off that rule even if you were to argue to official success or whatever.. this is supposed to be mostly an event for the players so I find it reasonable to have it running as smoothly as possible. Edit: I mean, yeah you do have the "beat 5 LYLE members" but even that is sorta big number of people do beat even in a such a big team as yours so it would lead people by starting from the other gyms. I really don't see the problem, or are you asking for us to lower the trainer count? the main problem is that you only get 2 chances, if other teams adopt the 'you need 7 badges to face our leader' thing then it means players can be completely locked out of getting all badges. I don't really care about the free pass rule, but copying your system would be a terrible way to go about the whole event. Arimanius and PandaJJ 2 Link to comment
DoubleJ
I think everyone is really missing the point of our gym. It isn't easy to beat, nor is it even easy to play KingBowser. If you want to throw a hissy fit about this, then too bad. Just be grateful we didn't turn off all of our lights and create a maze you have to wander through first. If you beat the [LYLE] gym, just know you have really done something worth while rather than just win one match via RNG. Edited February 18, 2016 by DoubleJ axx and AppleJacks 2 Link to comment

Eggplant
I don't mind the lyle badge being hard to earn. I think their 5-lyle-wins requirement is reasonable. If you want to end the argument, just go with what gunt said. I also don't mind if AW makes something equally difficult. AppleJacks and DoubleJ 2 Link to comment

DoubleJ
I wish to Challenge Kaynine, NikhilR, Artemiseta, DoubleJ and yangsam. Tiers: NU and UU. The tier is up to the players you challenge, but I'm sure the members you've selected will take into consideration the fact that you likely are without OU or Doubles comps. Tyrone is the first challenger of our gym once the PSL4 season has ended. Tyrone 1 Link to comment
Linken
so... we'll just have to replace the "or" with an "and" in "earn the other 7 badges of the "8 Gym Challenge" or defeat 5 members of the [ÁvE] gym" to make an even greater challenge than you guys... seems legit ^^ Colouring and Frag 2 Link to comment

Tyrone
It doesn't matter who is copying who, just enjoy it... Let's grant eachother some enjoyment. @JJ: "All challenges will be held in Tournament Mode and can be chosen from PokeMMO OU, UU, NU, or Doubles." I implied this rule meant I could choose the tiers. I'm fine to adjust to whatever tier my opponents choose though. DoubleJ 1 Link to comment

Rendiz
I feel like it would be better to list tiers each of members that you have listed to give 2 tiers and the challenger picks one out of the two. Being completely at mercy to what the opponent picks can be unfair if you do not play every tier especially considering the amount of people you are required to beat as well as being locked out for losing. Although I will hold any further judgement until we see how it plays out. Edited February 18, 2016 by Rendiz Twister, Kizhaz, KaynineXL and 2 others 5 Link to comment
