At the young age of 20 he maintains the Gym and accepts any challenger that approaches the mountain top. From a young age he was raised with Meditite that grew and evolved with him. Gym Type Fighting Gym Badge Meditate Badge Gym Layout: The gym sits on a small mountain above the water. The player faces two trainers before they fight the leader. The mountain itself is a sacred training ground for Medicham. Trainers enter the mountain through a cave at the base and climb up a ladder to the base of the peak. Rather than using puzzles, the gym challenges the contender with the powerful force of Pokemon. The two trainers inside challenge the trainer and their battles are unavoidable. With Giovonni being dethroned, he has bought the Viridian City gym and given it a remodel to better suit his goal of teaching young kids the art of Pokemon battles. Gym Type; Jay uses Bug types, as they are plentiful among Kanto, where he grew up. Gym Badge; Beating Jay awards you the Insectoid Badge, that is if you can beat him. lol guys its a fly Gym Layout; This will require some mapping on your part as you will need to show what the inside of your gym looks like. Most gyms have a puzzle to complete to get the the leader, what puzzle will your gym have? Where will the gym trainers be placed, waiting to battle challengers? Those talented with map making and sprite work could even visually represent their gym that way but a hand drawn plan is fine. When he was a young trainer, Professor Oak had run out of Pokemon, and gave Jay a measly Paras. While having major flaws, Parasect stuck by his side since day one. Yeah, I Lift (Pinsir) @ Choice Band Ability: Mold Breaker Level: 45 EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Earthquake - Superpower - Rock Slide - Quick Attack When Jay first entered the Safari zone, a strange bug popped up right in his face. Scared for his life, he threw his safari ball. It sat and shaked for a few seconds and then it stopped. He just caught his first safari pokemon, and became a strong physical hitter on his team. Armauguu (Armaldo) @ Leftovers Ability: Battle Armor Level: 47 EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD Adamant Nature - Swords Dance - Rock Slide - Earthquake - Low Kick When Jay toured through Hoenn, he encountered a weird fossil. This one wasn’t like the previous one he acquired, which made him very curious. When he brought it to his pals at Cinnabon Island, they told him they had awoken a powerhouse of a bug. Fudnud (Shuckle) @ Berry Juice Ability: Sturdy Level: 50 EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD Impish Nature - Ancient Power - Toxic - Knock Off - Rest This beastly bug is the main wall on Jay’s team. Boasting some of the highest defenses in the game, Jack just automatically assumed he Fudnud was the best wall in the game. Named after his favorite staff member from back in his noob days, Jay has faith that he will take any hit you can send at him. Speed Doping (Ninjask) @ Lum Berry Ability: Speed Boost Level: 47 EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Protect - Swords Dance - Baton Pass - Substitute Jay is a gym leader, Bans dont apply to him. He will baton pass all day long, with no care about any morals that you may have. He will pass sword dances along to his physical sweepers, who are also fast now thanks to speed boost. Be wary of this, because he will have a fun time with it. So he picked up a rapid spinner, and a hazard setter-upper. Forretress dishes out spikes like it is his job, which it is. When done, Jay makes sure to get off an explosion to really pack a punch into your team. Dual Win: What did you expect to happen Gym Trainers; Your gym must have a minimum of 2 trainers placed in your gym. What trainer class are they? What are their names? What are their teams? You only need to outline one team for each trainer, they can have up to 6 Pokemon on their team but their levels must be capped at 45. This is my entry for the "Make your own Gym Contest!" Description (The Project Creation) As soon as I saw the post, I zoomed to my books, started writing and drawing out ideas, to make a base to pick from. I purposely prevented doing any google searches about gym ideas, so I can be completely original. It was quite a struggle picking my idea from my brainstorm, and it was a struggle making the art. In total it took me about 3 days to finally decide which type of gym, and which idea I am going to pick. It was also really hard to manage time, considering I stopped a lot of school work to do this event! =) Gym Type The Gym type I decided to pick is: Normal. As a mapper, spriter, and game developer myself. I started a project about 2 years ago, on making my own Pokemon game. In the game I was making, I made myself the Elite champion, and I was a Normal type Champion! The idea has been in my head ever since I started playing and watching Pokemon! Me and my friend DarkLumio were working on the project for a long time, and decided to stop after school work and jobs came in the way. So this was the perfect opportunity to show my ideas from a long time ago ^_^. The Gym Leader (Description) The Gym Leader is a very special person. Before I show the Gym Leader's team and his badge. I will give a brief storyline on him. He is a very wise, child. Brought up in a small village, where Pokemon were banned from the village to keep everyone secure. His mother died when he was only 12 years old, and he had never met his father, he was forced to live with his grandmother for his whole life. His appearance is; a tan/brown light skin boy, light brown eyes, and light burgundy hair. His friends use to call him the firebender, because of this cool hair color, and he always wore clothes that fitted like armor. His name was.............. Isaac! >=). His journey ever since the beginning, was to be a gym leader. He struggled, because his grandmother wanted him to be a soldier, and protect the village from any dangers. Isaac had to escape the village, at the age of 14, to pursue his dreams. The journey was a tough one, he went through many regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Unova. And his first Pokemon ever obtained was Taillow! He went his whole journey with a Taillow, and some other Pokemon that he let go later on in his life. He became the gym leader at age: 17! A great idea came in my head during my brainstorming, I would have never thought my brain would think so strong! I decided to make it look like a checkers/chess board. Hope you like it's very simple design :)! The Outside Gym Design, I was thinking of land when I made that design, and fire on the top to show nature. The Gym Badge Design was based off of a person. Considering it is a normal type gym, I tried to give a natural feel, but spriting a person's face for the gym badge! Getting to know the New Gym Leader Our reporter obtained the information that current gym leader used to work at Professor Oak's lab. We interviewed the professor to get to know a little bit more about the new leader. Welcome, Professor Oak! Thank you for sparing a little bit of your precious research time for this interview. Q1: Could you tell us a little bit about new Viridian Gym Leader? Welcome! And thank you for having me here today. The new gym leader goes by the name Sliding Panda. I don't know her real name, I don't think anyone does. She used to work with me in a lab. She's a very talented programmer - helped me a lot with enhancing Pokedex application. Q2: Do you know each other for a long time? How did you meet? It was a year ago if I recall correctly. I saw her in Pallet Town going through the grass. She looked so young! I immediately thought she was a new trainer. I wanted to scold her for being so careless... Haha! I couldn't have been more wrong! Viridian Gym Walkthrough by Jessie the Gym Guide Let's go inside the gym, let me be your guide. This is the 1st floor. Here I stand and welcome all new trainers. This is what I usually say: Yo champ in making! Do you want to challenge Viridian gym? Trainers here use mostly normal type Pokemon. If you want to stand a chance be sure to take some fighting type with you! The gym has multiple floors connected by the maze of slides - you will have to slide your way to the leader!I will give you a riddle: Which is NOT a normal type Pokemon:1 - Absol2 - Girafarig3 - Dunsparce If you know the right answer and can decode it I'm sure you will find the shortest path to the leader. At the very end of this guide there is explanation of how to solve the riddle. Choose either green or red slide and read the right spoiler to know where you end up. This is a Bird Keeper Hank - his team is all Normal / Flying type Pokemon to deal with the fighting type. His team is made of very fast and strong physical sweepers. He says: Time FLIES so fast. This is an Ace Trainer Skyler. She's a Safari Maniac - her team is made of rare Pokemon that can be caught at Kanto Safari. The team is balanced providing both defense and strong attack. She says:Catching a good Pokemon in Safari is difficult. I'm about to show you why it's worth it! The elevator only goes up so to continue with the gym you will have to slide back from the beginning and possibly fight other trainers that you omitted if you choose different path. This is a Beauty Marie - her main focus is to use the Pokemon that look pretty. She thinks her Pokemon are strong but it's not always the case. You can go to elevator to heal before the battle or you can approach the leader to fight. Gym Leader Team 1st time [spoiler] Before the battle start she says: Hi there! I'm Sliding Panda. I hope you had fun sliding your way through my gym. Prepare yourself for a MASSIVE challenge! Gym leader uses a team of big strong Pokemon that can overwhelm the opponent with their attack and bulk. They aren't however particularly fast. [/spoiler] [/spoiler] Gym Riddle Explanation [spoiler] Gym Leader is a programmer so to solve the riddle you need a bit of programmer's knowledge. First notice that each answer has it's own number. Let's decode each number into binary code. Which is NOT a normal type Pokemon:1 - Absol 1 = 01 in binary 2 - Girafarig 2 = 10 in binary3 - Dunsparce 3 = 11 in binary Often in programming and logic we assume 0 = false and 1 = true. In our culture we also associate green color with true and red color with false So putting all this information together - the right answer to this riddle is 1 - Absol. So 1 = 01 in binary 01 = false and true false and true = red and green So to reach the leader in the shortest way you should first choose red slide and then green slide. The gym guide could possibly give many different riddles, but using this logic one could always find the shortest path. What are their names? What are their teams? You only need to outline one team for each trainer, they can have up to 6 Pokemon on their team but their levels must be capped at 45. You dont want them to be stronger than your gym leader! Sadly you chose a wrong slide and you will have to fight the trainer that could have been omitted otherwise. In original games there are occasions where this isn't the case, such as Juggler running Psychic in Koga's Gym, the Zigzagoon kid in Mauville Gym and so forth. As long as the leader is someone that you made up yourself, they can come from anywhere you like. I'm fine with this as long as the gym leader has a monotype team. Her specialty is Bug-type Pokémon, and she gives the Nectar badge to trainers who defeat her in battle. Like all other Gym Leaders, Beatrix will leave her Gym from time to time. Every Thursday, Beatrix goes to Viridian Forest where she meets her friend Bugsy, the Gym Leader of Azalea Gym, to share new informations about Bug-type Pokémon. On Tuesdays and Saturdays Beatrix travels to Johto region to compete in the Bug-Catching Contest at National Park. Even if she has already won it many times, she loves the competition. She is also a part-time Police Officer. At night the Gym is closed and she patrols Viridian City and Viridian Forest. [/spoiler] GYM BADGE [spoiler] Nectar Badge Kanto Badges [/spoiler] GYM LAYOUT [spoiler] Outside the Gym Inside the Gym [/spoiler] GYM LEADER'S TEAM [spoiler] First Match - Level 50 Rematch - Level 100 Strategy Pinsir: The investment in Attack and Speed, the Jolly nature and the item Choice Band makes Pinsir the most effective sweeper of the team. Earthquake and Rock Slide makes sure Pinsir is a threat to Rock, Fire and Flying-types Pokémon, so they can't switch in easily and take advantage of Pinsir's weaknesses. Earthquake and Rock Slide also provides a nearly perfect coverage. Superpower is a more powerful choice than Rock Slide to hit Pokémon that are immune or resist Rock and Ground; Skarmory and Breloom, for example. Fury Cutter is a fun move and hits Claydol hard if Pinsir has a good amount of HP. Claydol is immune to Ground and resist Rock and Fighting moves, so Fury Cutter can save Pinsir. Venomoth: Venomoth is the special attacker counterpart of Pinsir. It also plays the role of sweeper, but can't touch Steel-type Pokémon. Except for Steel-type Pokémon, Venomoth can attack hard with two STAB moves, Sludge Bomb and Signal Beam, all the other types. The physical attackers of the team can deal with the Steel-types. Armaldo: The Rock/Bug-type is a great defensive type. Rock-type annul the Fire and Flying weaknesses of Bug-type and Bug-type annul the Fighting and Ground weaknesses of Rock-type, making Armaldo the best choice to switch in moves that usually are super effective against Bug-type. The HP investment and the move Curse makes Armaldo a potential Physical Defense wall. The moves are identical to Pinsir's moves, except for Fury Cutter, so Armaldo can't touch Claydol. Besides Claydol, Armaldo fears Water-type Pokémon and Water moves, but Scizor can take these moves since it is Special Defensively invested. Scizor: The Steel/Bug type is also a great defensive type, but instead Water, Scizor fears Fire-type moves. The type with only one weakness and the HP/Special Defense investment makes Scizor a Special Defense wall. Superpower and Pursuit provides almost perfect coverage because Heracross is the only that resists both moves. Ledian: Ledian is the supporter of the team, setting up Reflect and Light Screen first and stalling with Knock Off and Toxic later. Forretress: Pretty much similar to Scizor, because is Special Defense invested, but Forretress' role is to stall with Spikes. Earthquake is a insurance against Magneton predicted switch in. Rapid Spin is a support move that eases Skarmory's dominance against Bug-type. Explosion makes sure Forretress takes a Pokémon with it before it faints.
