Absol

absol.png
HP 65/Atk 130/Def 60/SpA 75/SpD 60/Spe 75

A very offensively strong pokemon with mediocre speed and poor defenses. But when used right this rips right through walls and can really lay down the hurt. It is the strongest pursuit user in UU but not the fastest. Being a dark type this pairs really well with a fighting type on your team.

Choice Bander

Item: Choice Band

Nature: Adamant/Jolly

EVs: 252 Atk + 252 speed

  • Megahorn
  • Superpower
  • Pursuit
  • Quick Attack / Rock Slide / Iron Tail

- The best set for Absol's base stats. Absol cannot live a lot of hits due to quite awful defense, so when you're going to attack your foe - better make it KO.

Swords Dance wallbreaker
Item: Lum Berry
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk + 252 speed

  • Swords Dance
  • Superpower
  • Megahorn
  • Substitute / Quick Attack / Pursuit

Absol also has access to most special moves if you want to run a mixed, this list includes, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt ,Shadow Ball, and Psychic.

Aggron

aggron.png
HP 70/Atk 110/Def 180/SpA 60/SpD 60/Spe 50

The first thing you should notice is how insane its defence stat is. But the 4x ground / fighting weakness due to it being rock / steel can cause some problems. Also a common type of water weakness as well. But never the less you can switch into normal or flying spam and resist 4x. So that is nice.

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Rock Head (with D-E)EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP (optionally, could do the Marowak and going 252 speed)

  • Iron Tail
  • Rock Slide
  • Earthquake
  • Superpower / Double-Edge / Brick Break / Thunder+Ice+Fire Punches

- Predicted opponent's Choice Bander correctly this can really cause havoc. With the elemental punches you can help fill in any move types you are missing. Thunderpunch can help hit those incoming bulky waters.
Altaria

Spr_5b_334.png
HP 75/Atk 70/Def 90/SpA 70/SpD 105/Spe 80

A dragon with nice resistances sure is a welcome edition to the tier. Just think Dragon / Flying with 4x ice and 2x rock weakness. Remember you can use rest and when you switch out its woken up from its ability.

Dancing Dragon

Ability: Natural Cure

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Adamant

tIvs and Evs: 252 ATK EV + 252 SPEED But you could invest quite a bit of HP EVs too.Depending if you prefer a bulkier instead of faster.

Moveset:

  • Dragon Dance
  • Earthquake
  • Dragon Claw
  • Rest/ Aerial Ace

Heal Dragon

Ability: Natural Cure

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Careful (Maybe Sassy)

Ivs and Evs: 252 HP 40 DEF 216 SP DEFMoveset:

  • Dragon Claw
  • Heal Bell
  • Rest
  • Toxic/Fire Blast / Protect

*Just use it as a special tank and watch out for those stab icebeams and hidden power ice.

Phys Wall set by fred

item:leftovers

nature: impish

ev's and iv's: 252 hp 206 def 52 speed(107 stat to beat marowak)

moveset

  • Dragon Claw
  • Rest
  • Toxic
  • EQ or Heal Bell
Ampharos

ampharos.png
HP 90/Atk 75/Def 75/SpA 115/SpD 90/Spe 55

The boltsheep that can't just get any love. Pure electric type is a bit boring compared to the likes of Lanturn, for example. Ampharos has very notably good base total of 500, however mixed attackers usually happen to underperform in Gen3. Ampharos' one downfall is also its quite narrow movepool for a mixed attacker.

Mixed SubPunch

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Quiet

EVs: 252 HP, 252 sp. atk or split atk and sp. atk

  • Thunderbolt
  • Substitute
  • Focus Punch
  • Hidden Power Ice / Grass / Signal Beam

- Pretty self-explanatory. Works best when opponent is locked in CB Iron Tail or flying type move so you can get a guaranteed Substitute. Focus Punch or Tbolt after that will definitely not be good news to your opponent.

UtilitySheep

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Calm/Modest

EVs: 252 HP, split defs

  • Thunderbolt
  • Heal Bell
  • Light Screen/Reflect
  • Toxic

Heal Bell gives Ampharos amazing utility value. Combine it with a Screen and Toxic and you could Ampharos really see contributing on its team.

Agility by Fred

Item: leftovers or sitris

Nature: modest

Ev's and iv's: 54 hp 252 spa att 204 speed(101 stat)

  • Agility
  • Thunderbolt
  • Hidden Power Ice/Grass
  • Signal Beam

With your speed doubled from Agility you can even outspeed Crobat and Swellow.
Armaldo

Spr_5b_348.png
HP 75/Atk 125/Def 100/SpA 70/SpD 80/Spe 45

This guy is fairly tanky and is a unique bug/rock combination. With a base speed of 45 you could fully invest it if you want. He also is like Kabutops with the move to Rapid Spin if you really need it. Just watch out for those special sweepers carrying surf.

CB Armaldo

Item: Choice Band

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 HP+252 ATK or 252 ATK + 252 Speed

  • Rock Slide / Rock Blast
  • SuperPower
  • Earthquake
  • Return/ Double-Edge

Pretty simple just hope that your opponent has a bad switch or doesn't know how much power you are packing. Fire away.

Speedy Sword Arma

Item: Leftovers / Lum Berry

Nature: Jolly

EVs: 252 ATK + 252 Speed

  • Swords Dance
  • Rock Slide / Rock Blast
  • SuperPower / Return
  • Earthquake

The Swords Dance set up makes this easier for you to decide what move to use. And you don't get stuck like CB. You lose a little coverage for this but it should catch your opponent off guard.

Knock N Spin

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Impish

EVs: 252 HP+ 252 DEF

  • Rapid Spin
  • Knock Off / Toxic
  • Rock Slide / Rock Blast
  • Earthquake / Rest / Protect

Your attacks will still do a bit of damage but the main point is to stall with this. Remember that the toxic + protect combo is nice to wear down your opponent as well. Just make sure they aren't setting up on you when you bring this out.
Azumarill

azumarill.png
HP 100/Atk 50/Def 80/SpA 50/SpD 80/Spe 50

Doubling attack with Huge Power makes Azumarill have physical attack stat of 224 making it the best non-Uber physical attacker statwise. It's movepool isn't the hugest but it can still get work done.

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band

Ability: Huge Power

Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP or 252 Atk, 252 speed

  • Return/Double-Edge
  • Brick Break / Superpower
  • Waterfall
  • Ice Punch

- Pretty standard Choice Bander set.

SubPunch

Item: Leftovers

Ability: Huge Power

Nature: AdamantEVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP

  • Substitute
  • Focus Punch
  • Return / Ice Punch
  • Waterfall

SubPunch, always a good option to consider. However, the biggest problem with Azumarill is that it doesn't force a lot of switches - other than maybe Fire types.
Blastoise

blastoise.png
HP 79/Atk 83/Def 100/SpA 85/SpD 105/Spe 78

This bulky water was too much for NU, so here he is back in the UU scene. Watch out for its utility and movepool. Once you scout the set a bit you can figure out what it's gonna do. Also it's base speed is higher than most walls so watch out for that too.

Attacking Wall

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Relaxed/Quiet/Bold/Modest

EVs: 252 HP 252 sp. atk

Moveset:

  • Surf
  • Ice Beam
  • Earthquake
  • HP Grass/Toxic / Rapid Spin / Yawn

- This set has nice coverage and Earthquake is always a nice move to have if your both special and physical attacks are good. If your team is lacking a Spinner, can Blastoise easily work as one.

Chesto Resto staller

Item: Chesto Berry

Nature: Bold

EVs: 252 HP, 152 Defense, rest Sp. Atk

Moveset:

  • Surf
  • Ice Beam / HP Grass
  • Toxic
  • Rest

Good set for counter tanking against other tanks. Put toxic up, possibly recieve one and just rest it off. The Bold 152 Defense is to avoid getting 2HKOd by Choice Band Absol and Flareon with Superpower.

CounterStoise 1.6

Item: Leftovers / Chesto Berry

Nature: Bold

EVs: 252 HP, 156 Defense rest on Special Defense

  • Surf
  • Mirror Coat
  • Counter
  • Rest / Toxic
Breloom

Spr_5b_286.png
HP 60/Atk 130/Def 80/SpA 60/SpD 60/Spe 70

You see the stats and notice it's one of those heavy hitters. The nicest thing Breloom has is it's ability to use spore to 100% put it's enemy asleep. Which can be a very big problem for slower wall teams. It resists the common rock slide / earthquake combo. Gains Bullet Seed as a move option with one of the recent updates.

SporePunch

Item: Leftovers, Lum berry

Nature: Adamant

tIvs and Evs: 252 Atk, I usually aim for 110-120 speed, rest in Hp. Although max speed is fine since Breloom won’t be tanking any hits.

Moveset:

  • Spore
  • Focus Punch / Super Power
  • Mach Punch
  • Bullet Seed, T-Punch, Leech Seed, Iron Tail, Return or Double Edge

Swords Puncher

Item: Leftovers, Lum berry

Nature: Adamant

tIvs and Evs: 252 Atk, I usually aim for 110-120 speed, rest in Hp.

Moveset:

  • Swords Dance
  • Super Power/ Mach Punch
  • Bullet Seed
  • Return or Double Edge

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band

Nature: Adamant / Jolly

tIvs and Evs: 252 Atk, I usually aim for 110-120 speed, rest in Hp.

Moveset:

  • Super Power/ Mach Punch
  • Bullet Seed
  • Return or Double Edge
  • Thunder Punch / Iron Tail

This last set goes for coverage. Just swing big and hope you hit something. It just barely gets enough variety to make up four moves but its good enough. Exeggutor, Altaria, & Vileplume resist both of its stabs.
Claydol

Spr_5b_344.png
HP 60/Atk 70/Def 105/SpA 70/SpD 120/Spe 75
Claydol is one only rapid spinners in the entire game that doesn't take damage from spikes when it gets switched in. Levitate can help for incoming EQs and it resists rock slide as well. How handy. Try to utilize this against pokemon such as armaldo or donphan where they dont usually have a good SE to hit you with. You have really nice resists but lots of weaknesses as well.

SpinnerDoll
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed/Sassy
Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and rest in Def/Sdef
Moveset:
  • Rapid Spin
  • Earthquake
  • Psychic
  • Toxic/Ice Beam/Light Screen/Reflect/Explosion/Rest
Other move options can be Hidden Power Fighting, Shadow Ball, Signal Beam, Ancient Power, and Rock Slide.

Modest Sweeper
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest / Quiet
Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and 252 SP ATK
Moveset:
  • Hidden Power Ground / Signal Beam
  • Ice Beam / Psychic / Ancient Power
  • Calm Mind
  • Explosion / Rest
A bit on the slow side but can still get some damage out.

Clefable

Spr_5b_036.png

HP 95/Atk 70/Def 73/SpA 95/SpD 90/Spe 60

Basically just a really good wall that has access to healing powers. You can make sets to do just about anything with Clefable and it can get forced out by strong physical fighting types. Just bring it in for support usually to help out the rest of your team.

Cleric

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold/Calm
EVs: 252 HP split defs

  • Wish / Softboiled
  • Aromatherapy / Heal Bell
  • Toxic / Seismic Toss
  • Protect / Seismic Toss

- One of the only no damaging sets that are amazing in this game. This set is primarily to help your team out as well as preventing yourself to get knocked out with Wish+Protecting yourself.

CM BoltBeam

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP 252 Defense

  • Calm Mind
  • Softboiled
  • Thunderbolt / Hyper Voice
  • Ice Beam / Flamethrower

Instant healing and boosting your attack can go a long way. This set can surprise your opponent.

Belly Drummer

Item: Salac Berry
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk 252 speed (HP stat dividable by 4)

  • Substitute
  • Belly Drum
  • Return
  • Meteor Mash

This set can surprise your opponent. Just hope they dont have something faster than you trying the same thing with a salac or just a fast poke.

Encore Set by fred

item:leftovers

nature:bold/calm/careful/impish

ev's and iv's: max hp split defs

Moveset

  • Encore
  • T-Wave
  • Softboiled
  • Seismic Toss

Cradily

Spr_5b_346.png

HP 86/Atk 81/Def 97/SpA 81/SpD 107/Spe 43
This new poke has a nice sp def stat and a few tricks up its sleeve.  Has great coverage and set up moves. It was a little too much to handle for NU so it was moved up to the UU tier.

SP DEF Reflect
Nature: Careful
EVs 252 HP + 164 Def + 92 Sp Def
  • Rock Slide
  • Barrier
  • Mirror Coat
  • Recover

Curser
Item; Leftovers / Chesto
Nature: Careful
EVs 252 HP + 252 Sp Def
  • Rock Slide
  • Earthquake/ Bullet Seed
  • Curse
  • Recover / Rest

Set up against a pesky normal spammer or electric pokemon without ice coverage. To take advantage of it's resists.

Crawdaunt

Spr_4d_342.png

HP 63/Atk 120/Def 85/SpA 90/SpD 55/Spe 55

This other crab has a bit lower attack but two decent stabs. Just remember it's on the slow side so Dragon Dance is prefered. Being Water / Dark gives it many ways to get in on resisted moves. Just watch out for special moves or fast fighting types.

Dragon Dance

Item: Lum Berry
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk 252 speed

  • Dragon Dance
  • Crab Hammer / Waterfall
  • Super Power
  • Crunch / Return

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant / Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk 252 speed

  • Super Power
  • Crab Hammer / Waterfall
  • Return
  • Crunch

Crobat

Spr_4h_169.png

HP 85/Atk 90/Def 80/SpA 70/SpD 80/Spe 130

Can come in fairly easy on toxic or locked in CB earthquake and see what it can do. Just remember that Crobat outspeeds the meta except Electrode and Shedninja if you ever see them.
Special Variety
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ivs and Evs: 252 SP ATK + 252 SPEED
Moveset:
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Shadow Ball
  • Giga Drain/Psychic
  • Confuse Ray/Heat Wave/Super Fang

Physical Hitter
Item: Choice Band/Leftovers
Nature: Jolly
Ivs and Evs: 252 ATK + 252 SPEED
Moveset:
  • Aerial Ace
  • Return
  • Pursuit/Quick Attack
  • Super Fang

A bit limited with it's CB set but still has something to work with. I prefer pursuit over QA because a few things that will outspeed you are DD crawdaunt if its set up or salac users.

Dodrio
Spr_3f_085.png

HP 60/Atk 110/Def 70/SpA 60/SpD 60/Spe 100

Ability: Early Bird
Item: Choice Band
Nature: Jolly
Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and 252 Speed
Moveset:

  • Drill Peck
  • Double-Edge / Return
  • Pursuit / Low Kick
  • Quick Attack

Just make some predicts like usual and watch out for heavy hitters, Also good to see if they have a rock / steel poke that first, but Low Kick can help against those. Depending on how heavy it and damage it does to it like Metagross or Skarmory.

Flailer

Ability: Early Bird

Item: Salac Berry
Nature: Adamant
Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and 252 Speed
Moveset:

  • Drill Peck
  • Flail
  • Pursuit / Low Kick / Quick Attack
  • Substitute / Endure

Make sure they don't have a rock and steel pokemon to stop your sweep. Just try to bring your hit points down under 25% to activate that Salac Berry and flail away. Also be wary of anything that can carry a priority move. It's also nice late game since it doesn't take damage from spikes when you bring it out.

Bulky Bird

Ability: Early Bird

Item: Swift Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ivs and Evs: 136 HP + 252 Atk + 122 Speed
Moveset:

  • Drill Peck
  • Double-Edge / Return
  • Pursuit / Low Kick
  • Steel Wing/ Quick Attack

You will outspeed tons but just get lucky with your predicts. You need to watch out for Skarmory as this is a hard counter for Dodrio. Also be wary of both your stabs being resisted by incoming Metagross / Rhydon who want to set up or attack.

Donphan

Spr_3r_232.png

HP 90/Atk 120/Def 120/SpA 60/SpD 60/Spe 50

One of my personal favorites to use late game, it can take some hits and really dish it out. If you can't ohko this thing it can sweep your entire team that you have left. I prefer speed over HP but each to their own.

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant / Jolly
EVs: 252 ATK + 252 HP
Or 252 ATK + 252 SPEED

  • Earthquake
  • Rock Slide
  • Superpower
  • Double Edge

- One of the premier user of Choice Band with base 120 Atk Stab EQ.

Utility Tank

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP + 252 DEF

Earthquake Rock Slide / Roar Rapid Spin / Roar / Knock Off Toxic

With an amazing DEF stat this thing can take quite a few hits. Plus the base 120 ATK helps it become more of an attacking wall as well with that STAB EQ.

Exeggutor

Spr_5b_103.png

HP 95/Atk 95/Def 85/SpA 125/SpD 65/Spe 55

Being such a bulky Pokemon with the ability Chlorophyll. You can either be a good defensive wall or a sunny day sweeper. Since it is Grass / Psychic type you are 4x weak to Signal Beam / Bug Moves in general. Megahorn is another one to watch out for.

SunSweep

Item: Lum berry

Nature: Modest/Rash

Ivs and Evs: Make sure to hit at least 101 Speed. 252 Satk and Speed

Moveset:

  • Sunny Day

  • Solar Beam

  • Psychic/HP Fire/ Signal Beam/ Ancient Power

  • Sleep Powder/Explosion

BulkyEggs

Item: Leftovers

Nature: Bold

Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp + 252 Def

Moveset:

  • Leech Seed

  • Sleep Powder

  • Ingrain/Synthesis/Protect

  • Giga Drain/Psychic/Toxic

    Fearow

    Spr_5b_022.png

    HP 65/Atk 90/Def 65/SpA 61/SpD 61/Spe 100

It is overshadowed by Swellow in the speed department. The thing it does have for an edge is having the move drill peck and being a little more bulky. Watch out for Manectric / Lanturn using Thunderbolt and rock / steel / ghost pokemon are good at walling the normal spam.

    Choice Band
    Item: Choice Band
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 252 Speed + 252 Atk

  • Return/Double-Edge
  • Drill Peck
  • Pretty standard set but it should work out. Just watch out for the hard counters and use late game.

  • Quick Attack
  • Steel Wing/ Pursuit

    Flareon

    Spr_5b_136.png

    HP 65/Atk 130/Def 60/SpA 95/SpD 110/Spe 65

Being Oranges favorite pokemon for a reason and having such good stats for being a fire type. It also has a high special defence to take hits as well. Just it's speed is a little on the slower side of things. Bulky water types are what really slow this down.

    Mixed sweeper
Item: Choice Band (or Lum Berry / Leftovers if don't wanna get locked into move)
    Nature: Lonely/Brave
EVs: 252 Attack, mix between HP and Sp. Atk or max HP

You can also run 252 speed EV & 252 attack

  • Return
  • Overheat / Fire Blast
  • Bite
  • Superpower / Quick Attack / HP Grass

Fairly nice variety of moves and HP Grass is to hit those water / ground / rock types that might get switched in against you.

Special sweeper
Item: Lum Berry or Leftovers
Nature: Mild / Quiet / Modest
EVs: 252 SP ATK Attack, mix between HP and Atk or max HP

You can also run 252 Speed EV & 252 Special Attack

  • Return/ Body Slam/ Fake Tears
  • Flamethrower / Fire Blast/ Overheat
  • Shadow Ball
  • Hidden Power Grass
  • Having shadow ball might be somewhat of a surprise. But attacking so powerfully from the special side may leave you at an advantage.

    Wishing Wall
    Item: Leftovers
    Nature: Calm / Sassy
    EVs: 252 HP + 80 DEF + 176 SP DEF

  • Wish
  • Protect
  • Toxic / Heal Bell / Yawn / Quick Attack
  • Flamethrower

Has decent stats for being a wall but just watch out for that weakness to the ever common water, ground, and rock moves. I think Clefable might be a better bet to use.

Granbull

Spr_5b_210_s.png

HP 90/Atk 120/Def 75/SpA 60/SpD 60/Spe 45

Granbull has a wide variety of physical attacks and has very nice coverage. You can also make him a little on the speedy side since he is a little slow. But this would be mainly for outspeeding base 70 walls and other threats. Just watch out for the low special defence.

Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant / Jolly

EVs: 252 Atk + 252 HP

EVs: if Jolly 252 ATK + 252 SPEED

  • Return/ Double-Edge
  • Earthquake / Crunch
  • Brick Break/SuperPower
  • Ice+Thunder+Fire Punch / Crunch

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP

  • Return/ Double-Edge
  • Earthquake
  • Crunch /Brick Break/SuperPower/ Ice+Thunder+Fire Punch
  • Rest / Bulk Up

You can go with two attacking moves if you want and just go for Return, Crunch, Bulk Up, and Rest.

Just being so slow makes this sweep a little tricky but it can work and be another option compared to the straight CB set.
HP 45/Atk 50/Def 45/SpA 115/SpD 55/Spe 95
Lost some useage due to the increasingly popular Pursuit but still can get some use. I personally like having a sub set up first so you can avoid getting hit by Pursuit. Also special walls like Grumpig, Hypno, Claydol, and even Slowking dont like that stab shadow ball.

Special Sweeper
Ability: Levitate

Item: Lum Berry
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 speed 252 sp. atk

  • Shadow Ball
  • Sludge Bomb/Giga Drain/Psychic
  • Thunderbolt / HP Fire / HP Fighting
  • Substitute/ Will-O-Wisp / Destiny Bond

Haunter may have lost the epunches but gained two stabs, if you can get a decent hidden power on this you can make good use.

SubDisable

Ability: Levitate

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Speed + 252 SP ATK

  • Substitute
  • Disable
  • Shadow Ball / Sludge Bomb/ Psychic / Thunderbolt / Giga Drain

A really annoying set that can get pokemon who dont have more than one coverage move to hit you.

Poor guy doesn't get the epunches but still can hit hard with that 120 base physical attack. Boosting a high sp def it can come into special attacks and hit hard back. Also predicting an incoming T-Wave from a Lanturn or Chansey can go a long way.
Endure Revers
Item: Salac Berry
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk 252 Speed

  • Endure
  • Reversal
  • Blaze Kick
  • Return/Earthquake / Rock Slide

- Because of the lack of good priority moves in Gen3, this set can be rather monstrous when succeeding.

Choice Band
Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk + 252 speed

  • Superpower / Brick Break / Hi Jump Kick
  • Mach Punch / Blaze Kick
  • Earthquake
  • Return/ Rock Slide / Blaze Kick

Depends if your team needs a priority user and I personally prefer Superpower. It hits so hard with this choice band if they dont have a ghost to absorb that hit it can put dents into pokes that resist it.

HP 75/Atk 90/Def 50/SpA110/SpD 80/Spe 95

Being such a good pursuit trapper with it's high speed and ability to absorb fire moves with it's ability Flash Fire. Being a fire and dark type pokemon it can also easily come in on psychic moves.

Trap God
Ability: Flash Fire
Item: Lum berry/Salac berry

Ivs and Evs: 252 Speed and mix sp atk / atk evs idk yet
Moveset

  • Pursuit
  • Overheat/Flamethrower/Fireblast

  • Wil-O-Wisp/HP Grass or Ice

* The main purpose houndoom is to trap weak defence psychics/ghosts and get an easy KO.

Mixed Doom
Ability: Flash Fire
Item: Salac berry
Nature: Lonely/Hasty
Ivs and Evs: Hit 134 Speed, 252 Atk evs, and rest on Satk. If using Substitute make sure your Hp is divisible by 4 with a remainder of 1.
Moveset:
HP 85/Atk 73/Def 70/SpA73/SpD 115/Spe 67

Literally a troll pokemon, it has a few things up it's sleeves. Being a bulky psychic type the main thing to figure out about Hypno is what kind of status it will try to inflict upon you and its attacking moves aren't the strongest. It has a great movepool and can surprise dark types with fighting moves.
Mixed Wall
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold / Calm
EVs: 252 HP + 252 Defense

  • Toxic / Thunder Wave
  • Wish
  • Seismic Toss / Counter / Protect
  • Psychic / Counter

Hypno also has access to shadow ball, signal beam, brick break and the elemental punches if you want to run them. Its special attack and attack are both the same so you would want to run a - speed nature if you did that like relaxed.

Jynx

Spr_3e_124.png
HP 65/Atk 50/Def 35/SpA115/SpD 95/Spe 95

Besides making Nicki Minaj jokes Jynx can be quite useful. It has a wide variety of moves and coverage. The bane on it's existance is Houndoom though. If you dont scout it's pursuit can wreck you because its pitiful defence stat. Or run sub if you are really worried.

Special Sweep
Item: Lum berry/Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ivs and Evs: 252 Speed and 252 SP ATK
Moveset

  • Ice Beam
  • Psychic
  • Signal Beam /Water Pulse / Shadow Ball/ Hidden Power Electric or Ground
  • Substitute / Calm Mind/ Fake Tears / Lovely Kiss

You can build this set however you like. You can tweak it to see what you need most in your team.

Kadabra

Spr_3e_064.png
HP 40/Atk 35/Def 30/SpA120/SpD 70/Spe 105

With this amount of speed and special attack you can really do some damage to an unsuspecting opponent. With frail physical defences it needs to watch out for priority and faster enemies. Being a low defense psychic being pursuit trapped is also another worry.

Psychic Sweep - set by ShadowGary

Nature: Timid

Ability: Synchonize

EVs: 252 Speed/ 252 Sp.Att and 4 in Sp.Def.

Hold Item: Lum Berry/TwistedSpoon

  • Psychic
  • Signal Beam/Recover/Shock Wave
  • HP Grass/Fire
  • Light Screen/Recover

Pros:

- Switching in in a Psychic can deal huge damage to your opposing pokemon and with it high speed stat it almost always can finish the job.

- As said before, it get's huge coverage and can tank Sp.Def decently, it even can beat almost all Sp.Attackers(Took a Manectric as an example)  in a 1v1 if played with the moves stated above.

- If you have Lum Berry equiped and a non-Poison/non-Electric/non-Fire-type type uses Toxic/ThunderWave/WillOWisp you can get back at them with you Lum + Synch counter.

Cons:

- It easilly get's taken out by anything that can use Pursuit.

- Sneasel destroys it unless you predict a switch and use Signal Beam.

- It get's taken down by Seismic Toss rather easy.
HP 105/Atk 95/Def 80/SpA40/SpD 80/Spe 90

One of the most used pokemon in the tier for a reason. Huge bulk combined with being a normal type with decent speed makes you have more than one reason to use this. It also has early bird ability on top of it so you can absorb status and still heal with rest within a few turns.
Bulky AF

Item: Choice Band
Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP

  • Return/ Double-Edge
  • Earthquake / Crunch
  • Brick Break
  • Fake Out/ Ice+Thunder+Fire Punch / Crunch

You can also use leftovers / rest on this guy instead.

Special Sponge

Item: Choice Band
Nature: Careful

EVs: 252 HP + 252 SP DEF

  • Return/ Double-Edge
  • Earthquake
  • Crunch/Brick Break/Fake Out/ Ice+Thunder+Fire Punch
  • Rest

Think about what coverage moves you like and go from there. Just rest off the damage you take and hit back.
HP 55/Atk 130/Def 115/SpA50/SpD 50/Spe 75

Just looking at it's attack you know that it can lay down the hurt. Being a king crab it sure can hit hard but only really has 3 different types of physical moves to use. It is weaker on the special side so really doesn't appreciate getting hit by thunderbolt.

Flailer / Speed Boost by Yagu
Nature: Adamant
Item: Salac Berry
EVs: 6 HP + 252 ATK + 252 SPEED

  • Crabhammer
  • Superpower/Flail
  • Substitute/Endure
  • Sword Dance

Predict accordingly with the moves and manage to set up that salac berry. Just watch out for pokemon carrying extremespeed, quick attack, or mach punch.

Lanturn

Spr_3e_171.png
HP 125/Atk 58/Def 58/SpA 76/SpD 76/Spe 67
With the unique typing of water / electric and carrying the extremely handy skill of Volt Absorb. This lets you switch in freely to any electric attack and you are also immune to getting thunder waved. This is typically a para-fuse special wall of a pokemon. It has nice access to Heal Bell and pretty good coverage moves. You just gotta be careful of faster hard hitting physical pokemon and Manectric with HP Grass can give you a surprise as well.

Tanky Parafuse
Nature: Calm / Modest
EVs 58 HP + 200 SP ATK + 252 SP DEF
200 HP + 58 SP ATK + 252 SP DEF -Extra Tanky Set

  • Thunder Wave
  • Confuse Ray
  • Thunderbolt / Ice Beam
  • Surf / Ice Beam / Heal Bell

I prefer the extra defence compared to hitting hard. Once para-fuse is started you can choose if you want to stay in or gamble with that nice free switch in if your opponent hurts itself or its paralyzed.

Special Sweeper- by Arimanius

Ability: Volt Absorb

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest
EVs: 60 HP / 252 SP ATK / 196 SPEED

  • Surf
  • Ice Beam
  • Thunderbolt
  • Substitute

With this ev spread it gets 13 hp from lefties, substitutes with 51+ hp, enough speed to outspeed kanga wall and speed tie donphan and azumarill jolly. You could give 204 hp instead of 208 and more speed to outspeed those I mentioned

Manectric

Spr_3e_310.png
HP 70/Atk 75/Def 60/SpA 105/SpD 60/Spe 105
Just one of the best electric special sweepers in the tier. It hits hard and is fast. You just have to watch out for Lanturns absorbing your thunderbolt or other ground types being switched in.

Sparky Special
Item: Leftovers / Petaya
Nature: Timid
EVs 6 HP + 252 SP ATK + 252 SPEED
  • Thunderbolt
  • Flamethrower
  • Hidden Power Grass / Ice
  • Substitute / Toxic

With Substitute make sure that your total HP at level 50 is dividable by 4 so you can activate the berry. If you choose the berry to go for that +1 special attack just be wary of priority users and how much health their special wall has. Sometimes this can backfire if you activate it at the wrong moment. I find with the coverage this pokemon really shines late game if nothing rivals it's speed and you just pick off the enemy team.
HP 70/Atk 60/Def 125/SpA 115/SpD 70/Spe 55
This water / rock pokemon can play two roles quite effectively thanks to it's stats and abilities. One of which is a spiker and the other is a rain dance sweeper. Just be aware of Hidden Power Grass and Grass Pokemon since it takes 4x damage for those moves.

Spiker
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
Nature: Bold
EVs 252 HP + 200 DEF + 58 SP ATK
  • Spikes
  • Surf
  • Ice Beam / Hidden Power Grass or Electric
  • Protect / Toxic

Pretty much bring this in against something that can really touch it and try to set up a few spikes. It's nice to pair it with a ghost type to prevent rapid spin being used.

Rain Dance
Item: Leftovers or Lum Berry or Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest / Timid
EVs 116HP + 252 SP ATK + 140 Speed
  • Rain Dance
  • Surf / Hydro Pump
  • Ice Beam
  • Hidden Power Grass or Electric

Watch out for bulky grass types when you bring this out. It will still hit pretty hard with that boosted surf / hydro pump.

Pikachu
HP 35/Atk 55/Def 30/SpA 50/SpD 40/Spe 90
Pikachu, the mascot of pokemon. Basically with the light ball hax item you can get your attacks doubled. Volt Tackle, Extremespeed, Surf, and Thunderbolt are the main attacks but give so much coverage. Just remember that it doesn't like being hit by priority users itself and it a crazy wall breaker.

Special Variety
Item: Light Ball
Ability: Static
Nature: Modest / Timid
EVs  252 SP ATK + 252 Speed
  • Thunderbolt
  • Surf
  • Hidden Power Ice / Grass
  • Substitute / Encore / Extremespeed

Physical Variety
Item: Light Ball
Ability: Static
Nature: Adamant/ Jolly
EVs  252 ATK + 252 Speed
  • Volt Tackle
  • Extremespeed
  • Reversal
  • Substitute / Endure

Remember you dont have salac so whatever you are trying to take out reversal put that into consideration.

Mixed Pika

Item: Light Ball
Ability: Static
Nature: Naive / Hasty
EVs  100 ATK + 158 SP ATK + 252 Speed
  • Thunderbolt
  • Reversal
  • Hidden Power Ice or Grass / Surf
  • Substitute / Encore / Extremespeed

Best mixed options are in here and the coverage is sick.

Quagsire

Spr_3e_195.png
HP 95/Atk 85/Def 85/SpA 65/SpD 65/Spe 35

Quagsire has a very unique typing that consists of water / ground. Which gives it a 4x weakness to grass but that's it. It also has the handy ability Water Absorb so you can gain health from water moves and being ground it's immune to electric attacks as well. This is one of the reasons electric types run Hidden Power Grass. With some nice bulk and the move Recover you can stay alive to stall.

Curse Up!
Item: Leftover
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Careful/ Adamant
EVs  252 HP + 252 SP DEF
  • Curse
  • Earthquake
  • Ice Punch / Waterfall
  • Recover / Rest

The main point of using Ice Punch instead of Waterfall is to have perfect coverage. It's good to scout the enemy team a bit and find the right opportunity to bring this out. Also carrying a cleric can help if it gets poisoned or put asleep.

Mixed Staller
Item: Leftover
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Relaxed
EVs  252 HP + 252 DEF

  • Surf  / Ice Beam
  • Earthquake
  • Toxic / Haze
  • Recover / Counter

I prefer having Toxic but Haze can always be a good option. You can dump some EVs into either of the attacking stats if you wish.

Slowking

Spr_3e_199.png
HP 95/Atk 75/Def 80/SpA 100/SpD 110/Spe 30

Easily one of the best pokemon in the tier for it's great bulk, instant recovery move, and a movepool which can keep you on your toes. It can either be a slow tanky sweeper or just an overall annoyer.

Defensive King
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
Nature: Bold / Relaxed
EVs  252 HP + 252 DEF
  • Surf
  • Psychic / Ice Beam / Flamethrower/ Hidden Power Grass or Electric
  • Toxic / Thunder Wave/ Earthquake/ Calm Mind
  • Slack Off

You can wall so many things with this. It also can laugh off attacks and cause status while healing itself. Slack off is a great move which makes this Pokemon awesome. I feel like this is one of the more common sets. Calm mind is what you would use if you want it to be more specially offensive.

Sub Punch
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
Nature: Quiet
EVs  252 HP + 96 ATK + 160 SP ATK
  • Surf
  • Ice Beam / Psychic/ Flamethrower
  • Focus Punch
  • Substitute / Thunder Wave

If you predict an incoming switch just punch away. Or scout with Sub or Twave to make sure that you can get at least one hit in. It's so slow but so bulky.

CurseKing
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
Nature: Careful / Sassy
EVs  252 HP + 200 ATK+ 58 SP DEF
  • Curse
  • Earthquake / Body Slam
  • Ice Punch / Surf
  • Slack Off/ Rest

One way to go to get at least one stab would be using Surf. This may be a little unexpected but could pay off.

Steelix

Spr_3e_208.png
HP 75/Atk 85/Def 200/SpA 55/SpD 65/Spe 30

With such an insane defensive stat it's no wonder that people like to use it. Being Steel / Ground helps it resists poison while it is walling and having a decent enough attack with a good enough physical offensive spread. This can give it a little variety set wise. Just be aware of the super low speed of it.

Defensive Snake
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Rock Head
Nature: Impish
EVs  252 HP + 252 SP DEF
  • Earthquake
  • Toxic / Rock Slide/ Iron Tail
  • Roar
  • Explosion / Rest

Being Impish it gains so much defense to it's base stat that you are best left just to dump everything into the special defense stat.

Choice Bander
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
Nature: Adamant
EVs  252 HP + 252 ATK
  • Earthquake
  • Rock Slide / Iron Tail
  • Double-Edge / Crunch
  • Explosion / Rest

Just make the right prediction and hope it hits. When you know you will survive an attack from an opponent but hardly you can always just explode.

Spr_3e_277.png
HP 60/Atk 85/Def 60/SpA 50/SpD 50/Spe 125

With such great speed you can run either Jolly or Adamant. This is a great late game sweeper as well and with being a flying type it is immune to any spikes that are set up. Just beware of Steelix on teams because it can be a big problem and wall you.

Choice Band

Item: Choice Band

Ability: Guts
Nature: Jolly / Adamant
EVs: 252 Speed + 252 ATK

  • Facade/ Return/Double-Edge
  • Wing Attack
  • Quick Attack
  • Pursuit/ Steel Wing

The old point and click. Gotta use the predict skills for this to work. But if they lack a ghost / rock/ steel pokemon on their team you can just Normal Spam away with the top move. Facade is handy if you predict an incoming toxic so you can activate guts which will increase your attacking power.

Tentacruel

Spr_3e_073.png
HP 80/Atk 70/Def 65/SpA 80/SpD 120/Spe 100

Tentacruel is known for it's intense special defence stat and being fairly fast. It also has decent special attack and a high enough speed to be a reliable sweeper. It can't be poisoned due to it's typing being water / poison.

Original Kraken

Item: Leftovers / Lum Berry

Ability: Liquid Ooze
Nature: Timid/ Modest
EVs: 252 SP ATK + 252 Speed

  • Surf
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Giga Drain
  • Ice Beam / Toxic / Rapid Spin

This pokemon parallels Starmie in OU. Having such a nice variety of moves as well as that needed utility.

Dancing Kraken

Item: Leftovers / Lum Berry

Ability: Liquid Ooze
Nature: Jolly or Hasty
EVs: 252 ATK + 252 Speed

  • Return
  • Waterfall / Hydro Pump
  • Substitute
  • Swords Dance

Not having a good poison stab move kinda hinders this set. But you might just catch your opponent off guard with attacking physically. With nice speed and that +2 you can hit decently.

Utility

Item: Leftovers

Ability: Liquid Ooze
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP + Split DEF / SP DEF

  • Surf
  • Sludge Bomb / Ice Beam / Giga Drain
  • Toxic / Mirror Coat
  • Rapid Spin / Haze / Rest

You can bring this in on a special attacker and easily stall them out. You have quite a few support moves and even barrier can be considered.

HP 75/Atk 80/Def 85/SpA 100/SpD 90/Spe 50

While having decent bulk it's special attack isn't bad either. This pokemon can be a wall or a sunny day sweeper. When Sunny Day is in use this pokemon can also double its speed due to the ability Chlorophyll. Being grass and poison gives it immunities to spore, sleep powder, and toxic.

Utility

Item: Leftovers

Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP + 252 SP DEF

  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb / Toxic / Hidden Power Fire or Ice
  • Aromatherapy
  • Synthesis / Moonlight

This pokemon can take some special hits and dish back a bit. Fire is the common hidden power of grass pokemon to help hit others. Ice can hit Altaria for a 4x hit.

Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 ATK + 252 Speed

  • Swords Dance
  • Return / Double Edge
  • Low Kick/ Brick Break/ Fire or Ice or Thunder Punch

Depending on if you prefer coverage over priority this set can vary. But finding the right moment to set up the SD can be tricky due to it's poor defences.

i don't like these guides where all the build set / buildteam is allready made, it's my opinion but i think beginners will litterally copy these sets and play a standard = standard strategy = annoying (that's my opinion), that's exactly the same way with this ranking system, pushing people to run the most powerfull pokémons. I assume when i say the tiers are too much homogeneous because of these guides (in part).

It could be better to let people choose by themselves their sets for a funnier pvp.

good players will do that anyway, these guides are for beginners or for people who's starting to comp, these just help them to have a vision of what they could use and stuff

I disagree with this tbh, imo i dont think kadabra is viable. Houndoom shits on it, swellow can easily revenge, and with the special walls we have atm (kanga, cradily, etc.) It doesnt do much damage. On my phone so i cant say *too* much + calcs

I have a lot more sets that I haven't used since I wasn't sure if Bush would add it, I'll post em tomorrow.

regardless of the set kadabra is not viable imo.

Kadabra not viable? It's potentially one of the biggest threats out there, and yes like I said it's weakness is Pursuit, but nobody is going to switch in Swellow against a Psychic, so you can atleast take down one pokemon guarrantied, and about Houndoom and Cradilly, I destroy Cradilly with this set(Though Houndoom is dependent on chance):
- Hidden Power Ground

- Psychic

- Light Screen/Signal Beam

- Encore/Recover

Switch in Kadabra and use Encore against Cradilly's Curse/Ingrain since most Cradilly's set up first turn. And for Houndoom.

252 SpA Houndoom Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kadabra through Light Screen: 55-65 (47.4 - 56%) -- 80.1% chance to 2HKO

252 SpA Kadabra Hidden Power Ground vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Houndoom: 78-94 (51.6 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And of course it get's beaten by a lot of others, but there's a reason for it being NU.

lol houndooms don't even run shadow ball, any crunch or pursuit and it's dead. that moveset is highly situational and i still don't think it is viable. and yes, there is a reason for it being NU. because it is not viable in UU lol

I see a lot of Sp.Att Houndooms, more then physical ones in tournaments so that's the reason I used Shadow Ball in this case, and of course it's situational if you want to use it in UU.

"Any Crunch or Pursuit and it's dead" Yeah it's weak to physical, duh, same goes for Haunter, but that thing still get's used so I don't see much difference and the only reason that Haunter is UU is cause it's get's the Sub + Disable combo imo.

well houndooms go mixed to run flamethrower/pursuit/crunch/filler, they for sure don't use shadow ball. haunter has a better typing and has levitate, helps a lot more with the normal spam.

Sadly I haven't seen many mixed/physicals and that's why I assumed those were rare. Yeah true about Haunter, it's typing tends to completely shutdown pokemons like Zangoose.

I use this cradily

Full Wall

Careful

Leftovers

252 HP / 164 Def / 92 SpD

Barrier

Amnesia

Toxic

Rest / Recover (Recover is better imo, but requires more egg move breeding) EDIT: Synthesis is another option, not as good as Recover (lower PP and the effect can be lowered) but viable if you see yourself sleeping for too long

You should be able to survive a non-stab non-crit super effective move, from then on just stack Amnesia or Barrier depending on what your opponent has. You can predict switches if the pokemon that he has doesn't have good moves to dent Cradily: Example: Your opponent has Granbul and you have Cradily. He might try to land a physical move on you, so you barrier up. At the end of the turn you might still have half hp (most likely), but 2 stages up, his move wont do anything so he might switch. If you think that's the case you can do Amnesia, so that the turn he's going to attack you can Rest or Recover, and you are basically saying that 2 of his turns were for nothing. This is an average scenario. Breloom and Hitmonlee are the best counters because of STAB and the only way cradily wins vs Steelix / Vileplume / Tentacool is if you make them Struggle
