Okay so, basically I've been having this thought for the past few weeks now because I think the game could really use a weekly event like what used to be "Tuesday Night Throwdown" or "TNT" as most people knew it as. Judging because UU is my favourite tier, and the favourite of a good percentage of others I feel it'd only be fair to do it in this tier.

So yeah, I thought why not bring back TNT?

There's a number of things I want to discuss & get some community feedback on because I'm unsure about what to think/do.

1) The original idea for TNT was Mauru's (RIP 9pac) - and I'll basically stick to the guidelines he had on his (or from what i can remember at least) - we'll aim to have 32 participants for a 32 man bracket every week, if the bracket does fill up completely we'll do single elimination. If not then we'll do double elimination.

2) The events will be every tuesday, around 11-11:30pm GMT  because I dont finish work until 10pm on tuesdays - in the event that there is an official event happening at the same time as when this one should be running, then I'll just wait until the official ends before starting TNT that night. The event will also take place in the same place as previously, below the Casino @ Celadon CH7

3) What to do about prizes - obviously yen is a big issue now compared to how it used to be, so about the prizes, basically I've had 3 ideas sprang to mind about what to do to this. At the top of the post you'll see a poll so I'll let you guys decide which idea you like best, and judging on the community's decision I'll then choose the most chosen method to fund the prize money.

4) I'll open the signups every monday night as soon as I get home from work. Please dont use this thread to sign up as this is only a General Discussion thread & I have created a signup thread which I'll update & use on a weekly basis HERE.

Method 1
I could charge a small entry fee then use given yen to fund the prize money for that weeks winnings. Giving one winner only to receive the whole pot for that week.
Method 2
I could charge a small entry fee then use given yen to fund the prize money for that weeks winnings. Instead of having one overall winner split the yen so the overall winner gets a prize, then the runner up gets a prize also.
Method 3
I could charge a small entry fee to enter the weekly tournaments and give the yen to a respected staff member after every week to hold and at the end of the month we could have the winners of week 1, 2, 3 & 4 all face off after the fourth week and decide an overall winner of the whole pot
Also, let me know what you think in the comments, I'd like to know roughly how many people would be behind this idea as of course it'd consume alot of my free time to sort everything correctly.

I feel like entry fees for tournaments is the way to go currently, no player (unless they are insanely rich) has the funds to consistently host a weekly tournament and provide prizes each week themselves. Speaking as someone who has hosted one or two tournaments in my time, it can be a lot of work to organise, so I think that a host is already giving up a lot as it is - especially one who is willing to commit to a regular one. So I definitely feel that the 3 different methods are on the right track.

The way the game is at the moment with regards to money ect, I think that this could be a great idea to earn quick money for competitive players. I did a little maths with regard to "entry fees" to give people an idea, assuming that there would be a 32 man bracket.

$50,000 entry fee - $1,600,000 prize pot (Could be split $1 million for the winner and $600k for the runner up.

$25,000 entry fee - $800,000 (Split it $600k to $200k for the winner and runner up but personally in this situation (if hosting) I would do some Island NPC runs and raise like $200k for 2nd place. Of course this depends on Parke and his time / if he has lovely friends willing to help him out)

$10,000 entry fee - $320,000 (Would probably just be a "winner takes all" scenario in this situation)

Perhaps $50,000 is a little steep to some, I think $10-25k range is a lot more realistic (but I may be completely wrong as it has been a while since I've actively "played" the game). Anyway, I think this is a neat idea and it's great to see old favourites like TNT and PSL return to the community. Good work, Parke!

yeah, I was thinking somewhere around the 20,000-50,000 region also. Realistically it takes around an hour to make the entry fee from NPC farming so it's definitely not outside the realm of possibility. I guess we'll see how it goes anyways and that'll give us a rough estimate of what people will be willing to pay. Ofc I'd also like other input on what people feel is a fair enough entry price, because as Noad stated - I'm not insanely rich ingame & cant afford to be funding prizes on a weekly basis. So yeah, definitely let me know what you people think!

PS, thanks noad o/

Sorry I couldnt get to this, didnt show alot of interest due to the late time & i had work so was kinda tied for what I could do - however I've managed a workaround & got my hours sorted in work now so I could host earlier. Might actually host one tomorrow if there's enough interest for it?

Like this post or reply back if you guys are down to play and say what time would suit to play? timezones included ofc.
