The MMO Shiny Revolution 2015: SHINYS Left, Right and Centre.

The economy will undoubtably crumble if they continue at this rate. You simply can't have these many shinies flood the market and expect the economy to stay the same. Demand has to be higher than supply. Which honestly won't stay the same for much longer.

Not sure what devs had in mind with this. What it benefits is the chances for many who have never caught an OT (myself included) to achieve that. What it eventually will do is destroy the economy.

This is what I was trying to express as well.

The reason why alot of these shinies are considered 'rare' and 'expensive' in the first place was because they had alot of desire onto them, if the people who originally wanted them got an OT or very cheap, the value will dramatically drop especially as those who are considered 'poorer' could never manage to afford them, hence the sellers are forced to sell cheaper unless they wanna stick with the same shinies for goddamn hours. If more people got shinies it would be nice but then more people will be shitalking about the 'poor economy' even more.

I do not own any rare or expensive shinys but I am just looking on a slightly neutral perspective.

i would agree with alphamale.

Changing shiny encounter rate so drastically would be a bad idea for the economy.

The value of Shinys have been relatively solid in the past three years,it is like gold in the real life.people can jump into shinys to shift risks when the value of currency (whether it is eggs in before or now pokeyen) is fluctuating.

but tbh if such encounter rate keep going.i doubt if the economy would be destoryed. Its just our shiny trader and mostly collectors would be drastically influenced.Cuz 5*encounter rate means our wealth would be less than 1/5 in before.

Anyway in the pokemmo communism the wealth of minority havent been actually respected in most of those updates,so if shit happens i wont be so surpurise, maybe its just our time comes.

The way things are going the game will be a Communist state instead of a more Socialist one. Only the shiny economy will be destroyed, but only for certain shinies like Gastly, Cubone, etc.

I do agree that those like Charmander and evos won't be changed unless someone is stupid enough to drastically drop the price and demand. In short, Demand > Price > Pokemon < New Shiny OTs

But there was not any problem with shinies before the update where they changed the shiny rate from static. As we are getting more players, it is natural that we got more shinies aswell. I know that these shiny traders are not interested in this change because they literally own all of the shinies already and can not relate to other people having shinies aswell. I do not think that we should delete an entire mechanic because a few people are mad about that they will lose some value. But we have to think about the future players and shiny hunters. By erasing this mechanic and making it unknown to the public, you are basically scaring some new players away, especially shiny hunters.

The way we can develop new shiny hunters are if they are able to be influenced by the values of shinies from the Previous/current shiny traders. I do not think this mechanic should be erased either, but there was a dramatic change, so if this had occurred gradually I could understand.

Maybe if there was a thread on the places which are most hunted for particular shinies it would be easier? The Value Discussion is good to pinpoint prices on shinies but not good enough imo.

EDIT: Maybe there could be a certain feature that if a certain number of shinys (e.g. Rattatas) are found a day, then automatically there can't be any more spawned until the rest of the day? It would only work for the common ones and others too. Probably a stupid one, but just a thought. :)

Yeah, there are litterally 2-3 of some really rare shinies that are in the hands of some of the top shiny traders. Some people that like collecting shinies will never get the opportunity to obtain one of these rare shinies, if they do not have this small chance of encountering a shiny in the near future.

I am not really a big fan of your suggestion though, I would rather have the vanilla mechanics like in the original game. We do not have to make it more confusing than it already is. :)

Just make it a little harder to obtain one like 1/16384 or go for the shiny hunter mode. Where all the shinies obtained in this mode will be marked as "gifted" pokemon - untradable.

I think shiny hunting wouldn't be a problem if your chances automatically go because the game detects movement where you think you're a bot. I try shiny hunting but I also stand still all the time, so I'm not sure if that's enough to detect me being a bot.

Another option could be like in the handheld games, where if you catch all (yes, includes Mewtwo and Rayquaza) the Pokemon for your Pokedex, you obtain a shiny charm (omega ruby, x/y) or an automatic slight increase in your shinies by at least 1/500.

That way, everyone has a nice chance, but the hardworking and dedicated will get a bigger boost, regardless of playing hours.:)

Well yeah I agree to an extent, the first shinies affected will be commons and mids. Rares will be the last affected. Essentially if this rate continues, commons will have no place in the market. If you look at the other mmo game that rivals this one (they use the generic shiny encounter value 1in 8000 or whatever it is) and commons are completely worthless.

Exactly.

I'm also playing another game very similar to PokeMMO (can't say ofc cuz ads I guess) and the Shinies there cost around 50k, a shiny voltorb whereas worth 6m here, is worth 500k. The main factor is it's very hard to grind $$, but this is what may happen in the near future.

I am still heavily contempt with my suggestion of an obtainable shiny charm if we catch every Pokemon imo. (since we have 3 gens)
