Worried. (Shiny encounter rate)

1. at vanilla rates 8000~ encounters will only give you a 63%~ chance of finding a shiny iirc, 32k~ will be 95%~ or something, its not like every 8192 a shiny will pop out no matter what

Jesus fucking Christ, someone gets it.

Go roll a die. You have a 1/6 chance to land on a specific number. Roll it 6 times, sometimes, even out of 6 rolls, you won't land on that number. You may roll that die 50 times and never get that number. Probability is low for 50 rolls and not hit a certain, but it can happen. The die doesn't give a shit what you rolled last time. It doesn't know. It has no memory. Same goes for the server code. It rolls a brand new die with 8192 sides and if it lands on 1, you get a shiny! THAT'S IT.

To anyone thinking GMs have access to the code, nope. Never happened, never will happen.

You guys are such paranoid rumor mill gossip queens. Why hasn't this thread been locked and burned to the ground? It only serves as FUD

I mean, you say it's a 1/8192 chance, but considering Kyu confirmed that it is not, and that the chance is actually variable, your point is kind of moot. I don't really see many people assuming that if you have 8192 encounters you SHOULD have gotten a shiny, pretty sure most of the people in this thread aren't that stupid.

well, that is how it should be or maybe used to be in your days, but aparently in francoist pokemmo, the die is a bitch that gets upset the more you roll it, and with every roll a new side pops out making it more like a brand new die with 'lol you'll never find a shiny' sides and if it lands on 0 you get a shiny

I'm as dissapointed as the next guy about the lying but can someone just give a somewhat reasonable explination why lowering the encounter rate from the original game is a good idea? And in case you decided for whatevertheweirdreason to have a non vanilla shiny encounter rate, then why something like this had to be hidden and everyone questioning this in the past had to have their thread locked? What damage would have been done if you just told about this before? I just. don't. get. it.
