BurntZebra
6 minutes ago, Kimikozen said: Opinions on best Ddance Gyarados EV spread? ( jolly, life orb) I'd say max speed is the best now. It lets you outspeed blaziken guaranteed, which is quite good for gyarados. It lets you outspeed offensive growth venusaurs as well. Since gyarados is going to be losing health from life orb, it's survivability is mitigated and should focus on outspeeding as much as possible and hitting hard. If you don't care about blazikens or venusaurs or medicham or other base 80 speed pokemon, then I'd say the next speed to hit would be 138, which outpaces adamant heracross (but it seems adamant heracross seems to be fading out in favor of jolly to outspeed blaziken/venusaur/medicham as well). Forretress is fine. Bulky Gyara, or Life Orb Gyara with tbolt are waaaaaaaaaay more effective than the gimmicky Modest Set. Snorlax is fine, though many prefer Fire Punch over eq. Ludi and King are fine, don't think King will be too good with Chansey around though. But hey, this comes from an OU noob, you're better of asking somebody else. What this team is lacking? If I were to go with offensive arcanine, I'd at least go with specs or life orb as its somewhat of a surprise set and can punish immunity snorlax and still hit physical walls for insane damage too. But defensive arcanine is definitely the most popular set as it lets it take on heracross and blaziken, 2 pokemon that are quite difficult to beat in OU (although both of these pokemon have ways of beating arcanine). Ludicolo set probably won't work that great. Seismic toss has pretty disappointing damage output in general. It's only run on chansey because it has no other attack options. Definitely want to take advantage of ludicolo's unique combination of stab moves. Giga drain+surf covers pretty much everything in OU besides venusaur. Leech seed is good for snorlax/chansey and keeping some momentum. Synthesis is a good last move since you don't really want to rely on leech seed to keep your hp high and in most cases, where you would normally protect, you could just synthesis and get the same result. Ludicolo should also be physically defensive rather than specially defensive. Kingdra most likely needs hp electric>rest so it doesn't get walled by gyarados/other water types. Extra speed evs probably wouldn't hurt to outspeed some of the relevant choice scarf users (heracross and flygon mostly). Snorlax evs might not be entirely ideal. I'd shift some of those hp evs into special defense so snorlax doesn't get overrun by life orb special attackers. Forretress is probably fine, but have to watch out for hp fire metagross, as that's most likely going to ohko you. Gyarados is either used as a defensive wall or a dragon dance sweeper, so I'd stick to those two. As for the actual team synergy, its medicore. I'd imagine your biggest issues are going to be heracross, flygon, and snorlax. Magneton is a threat as well. Snorlax has a pretty easy time sweeping through your team since your only normal resist can't really touch snorlax and its 4x weak to fire punch. Snorlax will also be stopping your kingdra from sweeping as well. Defensively, ludicolo can leech seed it and attempt to stall, but snorlax isn't going to magically die to some leech seed damage. You probably need to devote a few pokemon to dealing with snorlax. A popular strategy is to force snorlax to rest with will o wisp dusclops/weezing, then you can force snorlax out with heracross low kick, which does insane damage to snorlax, even if its +3 atk/def. Magneton+physical attackers beats your team pretty easily as well, since forretress is your only normal resist. Once forretress is trapped, tauros can clean up pretty easily. Flygon can spam dragon claw easily as well. Overall, you probably won't be able to win that consistently with this team. You can probably win some of your matches with predicts or rng, but matchup will typically not be in your favor. ShadowGary and nioz 2 Link to comment

If Ludicolo should be physical wall , i will cut one between ludicolo and forretress , so im in need of a special wall, so , what can i pick? I dont really like chansey tbh Snorlax ,eq icepunch fire punch or whatever as 4th move? ( curse rest bodyslam ____ ) Arcanine life orb , Curselax , Raindance Kingdra , One between ludicolo/forretress, a special wall , last spot? Something like meta or swamp? Or whatever? good moveset for flygon? Edited July 18, 2016 by nioz Link to comment
