PokeMMO Tier Council and Official Tier Policies 

 

Here you will find all the information you should need on how tiering works in PokeMMO. Please ensure that you read this before posting your contributions in any of the threads in this section. If you have any questions please feel free to message a Competition Alley moderator (Noad, LeTyrone and Bluejim).

 

Official Tier Council Organisation

Each tier (OU, UU & NU) have separate tier councils made up of 3 staff appointed members and a staff member who oversees any discussions. Any decisions made by any council will be vetted by an overseeing council made up of both players and staff members to ensure that any changes being made meet the policies. Council members have a variety of responsibilities but most importantly they are here to lead tier discussions, decide to conduct suspect tests and ultimately decide if a Pokemon fits the tier that they govern. Council members will only have a legitimate vote for the tier they are a member for. 

 

Below is a brief introduction of each council and their contributing members:

 

The OU Council

The Overseeing Council is lead by Darkshade, LeTyrone and Noad, members of this council are BurntZebra, Artemiseta and OrangeManiac. The overseeing council's purpose is:

- Overseeing and maintaining the tierlist policies.

- Reviewing every proposed change from the councils. 

- Handling broader aspects of tiering such as; complex bans and flat bans on moves and abilities. 

 

Council members are chosen based on competitive knowledge, ability to discuss with good argumentation, being able to abide by the current tier policies. If you have any concerns about a certain council your first line of communication should be the overseeing staff member for that tier. 

 

 

Official Tier Policies 

 

1. All discussion and suspect threads will now be made only by tier council members. If you feel that a Pokemon should have a discussion thread then you will be able to request one in the new Discussion Request thread for the relevant tier. Please ensure you read the rules for that thread before you post.
2. Only one suspect test per tier at one time. Suspect threads will remain open for a minimum of two weeks. 
3. There will be a minimum cool down period of one month between bans. This may be bypassed in the form of a "quick ban" but this must be agreed upon by the overseeing council. 
4. Tiering will continue to be usage based with a cut off point of 4.36% for each tier. Usage is managed by Noad and can be found in this thread. 

 

Tier Discussion Moderation

 

Discussion threads will now be a lot more heavily moderated than before, off topic or derailing posting will not be tolerated. Repeat offenders will receive forum warnings if they do not comply with the posting rules of this sub section. We recommend you read Senile's guide to discussion etiquette and the Competition Alley rules before you start posting in this section.

Just to update players on a recent change within the council.

 

• ThinkNice will be leaving the UU Council. ThinkNice has always been a player who gives back to the game at any chance he gets, PSL and his continued contributions to the council are just some of the things that stand out. He will always be a valued member of our community and the staff involved with the council wish him well in his studies. There will always be a place for him on the council if he wishes to return to the game at some point.
• Barrage will be filling the vacancy on the UU Council. Some members may remember Barrage as a leader of the old tiering system before the council was created, as well as being a great competitive player. He has decided to return to PokeMMO and expressed interest in the council and we are more than happy to have him on board.

Another update:

• Senile has resigned from the OU council. We thank him for his many contributions to the council in his time here, it was appreciated. Best wishes for the future!
• DrCraig takes a seat on the OU council. No one can deny DrCraig's dedication to the competitive scene here at PokeMMO. From maintaining the UU Viability Thread to volunteering to help me with usage, he has proved to be an asset to the council and we feel that this appointment is well deserved. 
• OldKeith is taking a break from the game and NU council. Due to unforeseen circumstances, OldKeith has had to take some time away from the game, the length of which is undetermined. He will be greatly missed as he was an excellent contributor to the NU tier, he will be welcome back whenever he gets a chance to return. 
• Gbwead takes a seat on the NU council. Gbwead sent us a message recently expressing interest in a position on the NU council, his recent performance in official tournaments has been impressive and enjoyable to watch. We are certain that he will excel on the NU council and we look forward to seeing some more official wins from him!

Update:

• fredrichnietze has resigned from the UU Council: fredrichnietze has decided to take a break from PokeMMO, that's why he decided to step down from his position as UU Council member. We'd like to thank him for his positive contribution to our Tier Council including his time and effort spent on making this a better competitive environment.
• DoubleJ takes a seat on the UU Council: While looking for a replacement for fred, we decided to give one of the OG UU Council Members another shot. Having talked over the issues that caused his resignation back in December 2014, we feel that DoubleJ has developped a better attitude towards the Tier Councils and feel he's as motivated as ever to contribute to the development of the tier.
