Dude about the generation moves on this game

Hi

I know this could be a fool question but I´m new in this game and I just wanted to know in which version are the attacks base on. A lot of people said I, III and IV and I'm not sure anymore...

For example, fire/thunder punch is considered a normal attack or a special attack here?

Two different people told me different answers, so...

The moves in PokeMMO go by the 4th generation and forward mechanics, so Fire/Thunder Punch are considered Physical, not Special.

Attacks are no longer classified by their typings.

We go by the physical special split from gen 4. That means physical and special attacks are determined by the move, not the type. Which is why fire punch is physical, but flamethrower is special
