why is that? i wish the admins would give us more cut clean ideas of when and where things are and will be.

Cause they don't know exactly themselves. And when they do attempt to give an eta, it's so risky cause when (not if) they get it wrong, people get mad.

thats why they should make it clear that is an estimate time of release and the time should always be updated

Do you want people to tell you "Happy Birthday: I got you a brand new Iphone, open up the gift!" (doesn't that ruin the supprise, same for the berries). There are many more surprises the administration may be trying to contrive other little goodies. The administration also fears the vitriolic criticism that may come out of one simple bug (ie: The ground ate up my berries and I get no berries in return!!). The administration also fears being ostracised by the community by just one or two bugs. It seems almost like the community feel a bit nonchalant about the hard work and effort that the administration contributes into this game. I may not agree with everything the administration does, but I know that they really do want to make the game an enrapturing experience. In the end, do not have any trepidations about this berry fiasco, enjoy the game and it will debut when the administration feels no qualms about these little goodies.

Pretty sure that happy birthday argument isn't valid lol. You know when your birthday is.....unless I'm missing something. Even so pretty sure we're gonna be left in the dark for a couple months especially with the tournys now being hosted .

My point was, do you want me to tell you what is inside the birthday gift before untethering the wrapping paper? The date represents a fully wrapped birthday gift. The point of my proposal is that the gift needs to be given first, then unrapped, in this case, a doggo proposal that can give the player base an "amassed euphoria." Giving the gift (exposing the date) takes away the "euphoria" of the player base. Good example of this "amassed euphoria" is when Hoenn was first released on January 13, 2015, when I was doing my report with KingBowser and OldKeith, all three of us kind of expressed a sudden feeling of euphoria (or at least I was). That was my point of the "birthday present" argument.

I told my parents to keep my birthday date a secret so that i'd be surprised whenever they decide to reveal it, which makes your argument invalid

Malorne, I would like to point out this before you blow it out of proportion....

Pretend like the date is a tangible object, the player base want the date. If the date is given, "expect the berry update on 4/1/15, then the player base won't have euphoria. First, I must explain the definition of euphoria because apparently you don't know what it means and I can throw in amassed in as well.

Amassed = (of people) gather together in a crowd or group. (straight out of Google)

Euphoria = a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness.(also straight off of Google)

(the reason why I was pulling these definitions off of Google was so that way you won't say that "I made up these words")

Okay, put that together and you get "amassed euphoria" which is what I am arguing for. If there was a birthday gift box and you told the person what was inside of it prior to opening it, you would ruin the euphoric moment and it would be a dull moment. Presents are meant to be a surprise factor, just like the date. Think of the date as a valuable tangible object (I put it in the spoiler so that way it won't take you brain power to think about what it looks like) and you can receive it when the staff want to give this present out to you. The present represents curiosity (The administration wrapping the date in wrapping paper) and the gift represents the desire (date of release). In order to get amassed euphoria, the administration can't tell us what is in the box, but rather throw the box at the community for us to open (when the update happens). Malorne, please don't blow my posts out of proportion, I am just arguing a point (stopped it before it happened).

nope, when they try to give an ETA and they cannot meet the end date, ppl will get mad... this has nothing to do with anything you're saying, they don't care if we're excited lol

Malorne, an effective MMO service finds some way of giving "amassed euphoria", and PokeMMO is trying their best in giving this. If they don't, there is a likely chance, they won't succeed in the Pokemon MMO service market. That is why I was arguing for this, do I agree with the "amassed euphoria" proposal for the general marketing place, I personally wish there was another route, but hey, that's the market at work. For an example, I watch the news and they tend to have women wear skirts to give the men "amassed euphoria" when tuning into their local "FOX and Friends" or "The Young Turks." In summary, PokeMMO is trying to do this tactic and I applaud them for doing this, it is a smart way to keep players playing and to gain more players.

No. The reason they don't give out eta's isn't for a euphoric effect. Your argument that it keeps players in the game is invalid. I'm really tired and don't want to give a long explanation as to why, but I am with Malorne on this one.

1: The "euphoric effect" usually lasts no longer than 48 hours (maximum 1 week; minimum 1 second).
2: The tactic of keeping people playing by "surprising" them with updates is a poor one. People stick around for the game, not what isn't in the game.
3: Sure, people might be excited for new content (i.e. hoenn), but they won't necessarily play the game leading up to the update (some obviously will in preparation), but generally future updates aren't/shouldn't be the things that keep people around.

Thus, the mass euphoria doesn't really matter much. Probably it's most significant effect is that it can potentially pull in new players, but meh; that's not what the devs are thinking, imo. They are more likely thinking "Well it would be bad if we set a date, even tentatively, and fail to deliver..."

I respectfully disagree with your proposal, let me cite some of my viewpoints to your questions.

1. " The "euphoric effect" usually lasts no longer than 48 hours (maximum 1 week; minimum 1 second)."

My response:  The amassed euphoria effect is necessary to keep a other players fervent to play.

2."The tactic of keeping people playing by "surprising" them with updates is a poor one. People stick around for the game, not what isn't in the game."

My Response: Same as my response to number one. It keeps the players "hooked" to the game and await the special update.

3."Sure, people might be excited for new content (i.e. hoenn), but they won't necessarily play the game leading up to the update (some obviously will in preparation), but generally future updates aren't/shouldn't be the things that keep people around."

My Response: On the contrary, it is a good hooking mechanism for the player base to keep playing until that one special surprise is awaiting for you. It makes players play almost daily anticipating that special marvel update that has been making the players wait. Also (as far as I noticed), updates usually contrive of special goodies other than the berries. Basically, the updates keep players hooked to the game a bit longer just to wait for that one special moment.

Example to back up my responses Wal-Mart announces a brand new computer gaming tool and they will not tell people the date upon the release. Once this accessory releases (I am going to throw in some random names), you, Jayfeatskydd, Senile, and Tranzmaster (his voice sounds like an avid gamer) would be the first ones to bolt through Wal-Mart's doors in a non genteel matter. Now how would you know the date of the release, visit the Wal-Mart website (which Wal-Mart can put up ads for their products so that way you can make a list of what products to buy when you make that special trip to Wal-Mart)  and await for a sudden release.Wal-Mart might be amassed full of enchanted computer game players.
