Hey everyone. The long-awaited results for the Halloweed Afterparty writing contest are in!

There were some excellent entries, and it was really tough to order them in a ranking. Different judges had different favorites and everything was very appreciated.

We've managed to come to an agreement regardless and here are the winners we have chosen!

1st place: YagamiNoir

What stands out here is, first of all, the flat out beauty and quality of the writing itself. Some of the descriptive language is really creative. It was pleasing to read. Additonally, the story was full of imagery and descriptions which made it easy to picture the scene, to imagine everything that is happening. It's simply the most beautifully written.

It's equally impressive how effective the build up of tension was made in such a short story. There's also this sense of timing that was pulled off amazingly. When you read a story, you can usually tell when the protagonist is in trouble. "No! Go back!" The thing is here, the protagonist isn't completely dense or unaware and also senses it, at the exact moment that you do. That's pretty cool. But he can't turn around like his gut tells him to, because at that same instant, his partner disappears. You really feel that you messed up and bad things are going to happen. Everything just flows so well. And it's spooky.

2nd place: Gunthug

Gunthug took a unique approach and wrote his story in a blog format. It's quite fitting for the prompt at hand, as a creepypasta normally revolves around internet culture. A story that the reader can't exactly relate to, but spectates completely safely, and wonders if this is just another fake story. But shares it with his friends anyway.

The creepy factor comes from the ambiguity and open-endedness of the story. What's on the other side of the phone? I wonder #

The final paragraph was very well played, too. You know it's no longer the author writing out of free will, so the ending is just a set of empty words that leave you a little uncomfortable #

You know, on second thought, this entry is flawless #

You know what we love about it? Absolutely everything #

What is this, I actually win at life.

A pleasant surprise indeed. Congratulations to all who participated -- writing and reading itself was all but a subtle pleasure. A few words of appreciation to the judges as well.

Congratulations :)
