0 Kiliminati Posted September 3, 2014 Share Posted September 3, 2014
Sorry toad ;-;
In my opinion, from what I've learned about this game's meta so far, choice specs would never work. In D/P choice specs was introduced to increase diversity in competitive play and allow special sweepers to have the same opportunity at kicking ass as the CB users of gen 3 had. However, gen 4 had a total of 493 pokemon. This game's number of implemented pokemon doesn't even come close to half of that. And therein lies the problem. What all would be able to consistently tank a choice specs Starmie with boltbeam psychic and surf? Gastrodon oh wait... Celebi oh wait... Dusknoir oh wait... Regice oh wait.. etc. etc. All we have right now is Blissey, Snorlax, and possibly Lanturn/Ludicolo. The sad truth is there are not enough specially defensive walls in this game to warrant the addition of choice specs. The same cannot be said about CB, as there are many more defensive walls (Skarmory Forretress Steelix Bold Vaporeon Umbreon etc.) able to tank and take advantage of a CB locked pokemon. Choice specs wasn't even core on most gen 4 special sweepers anyway. So I doubt that they will be added any time soon due to the limited pool of usable pokemon this game currently has.
