Noad
Some people might wonder about this so I shall answer (and bump my precious thread) the question beforehand: Yes, this guide will be updated with Hoenn walkthrough and hidden items once it will be out. Prob gonna take a while (maybe like a week or two) but it will eventually be in this guide, though I will need to re-build it somehow as I will need some more space.
more srs I just had to steal this pageking
Send me a message when you want to update the guide and I will help you make room in this thread. Saves you making a whole new one. KaynineXL
Fantastic guide. I love your attention to detail. You explained everything very well. I also love the fact you added those funny little comments, which made me smile while ALT running. RysPicz 1 Link to comment

RysPicz
Uh, can someone please move this to "WORK IN PROGRESS" guides? I am currently gathering info about Hoenn region (I haven't played emerald ._.) and hopefully I will release the updated version of this guide once I'll be finished. Can't give an ETA yet; I should be done in a week or two. Link to comment

RysPicz
15.01.2015 update: *Changed the spoils with vitamins prices being cut in half and bigger trainer payouts due to updated amulet coin mechanics (x1.2 -> x1.5). Basicly spoils are in like 20k less, the 60k you lose on vitamins, you are gaining on trainer payouts. *Updated the whole guide so it will fit more into the current gameplay (RIP transfering low lvl Staryus). *Lately market became very unstable with certain item prices (PP ups going for 20k and Maxes for 60, which is a huge addition to the spoils- apparently people stopped making altruns while desire for this items only grew; no supply and very big demand) so I made the spoils having a range. I will be paying close attention to the prices and try to update them as soon as they will become more solid. I am also very sorry for the possible disappointment, but due to the fact that I was unable to play through storyline and collect the items- both hidden and not hidden (apparently I am the only one who couldn't, for no reason...), I need to restrain myself from providing a guide for Hoenn region. I do not want to start making another alt and gathering possibly incomplete information for a region I haven't played much yet. I am not sure if those missing items apply only for my main or will it happen on my alts as well- I'd prefer to get a word from upper-staff about this issue before I will start writing anything. I apologize for the inconvenience, hopefully I will get a word from higher-staff about my issue soon and I will be able to provide you a new guide to fully enjoy Hoenn =)
In the meantime, I am currently working on encounter rates and wild pokemons locations in Hoenn during both night and night time :)
Paeonin and OldKeith 2 Link to comment
Rache
Did a run of Hoenn and found all of the hidden items. I figured that it couldn't hurt to record their locations as I went (aside from the Abandoned ship which I forgot, but they all sparkle when you enter the room anyway), so here's a list. If a route isn't listed, it's because there isn't anything there. Things might be out of order somewhat too. I don't think I missed anything, but I could be wrong. Didn't list items that are actually visible. If HMs are needed to access the item but not needed to access the route itself, noted that. If the item is in a spot that the player can't walk on such as in a rock, noted that too. All recorded with the /loc command, which tells you exactly where you are. The first and second numbers are basically which map you're on (not really important since the route names are given), the third is where you are horizontally (east = higher numbers), and the fourth is where you are vertically (south = higher numbers). It also gives a 5th number and the channel that you're on, but they're not important so I didn't include them. It probably wasn't the best way to record everything, but could be referenced if it'd help in finding something that isn't particularly well explained elsewhere on the internet (I'm looking at you, Rare Candy in the Safari Zone that took me 10 minutes to locate). Maybe a timid Nidoking I don't know, he can learn all those moves but Psychic. There's also Gengar but he can't learn ice beam and ice punch is physical so it's not a good option, besides, doesn't learn any water move Edited April 10, 2015 by Arimanius Link to comment
hihats
hmm, I think i'll give Nidoking a try on my next run. I did a run with a random lvl 20 staryu I caught in Pallet town. I went to the casino and bought thunderbolt and icebeam for 12k ea. I taught it surf and I figured i'd let it level to 42 for it to learn psychic. Everything went nice and smooth until Koga's Gym. At that point staryu just wasnt strong enough so I rare candied to reach lvl 42, learn psychic and evolved with water stone to Starmie. So 24K + about 30 mins to catch a few staryus was my investment to make this run. I believe the key to making alt runs profitable is to get it done as quick as possible. That means any low level sweeper that can OHKO everything and level as you go to avoid loafing around. Staryu works great but I foresee getting bored with always using the same poke. Up next on my list are Nidoran/Nidoking, Natu/Xatu, Gastly. Any suggestions on a poke/moveset that can handle everything up until elite 4? Link to comment
RysPicz
As I have currently came back to the game (wop), I will soon update the original guide, along with Hoenn's alt run (and walkthrough). I, as for now, can say that Bulba is the masterrace and probably the best choice you can make when picking a starter. If you would like a poke to handle everything up to elite four, make a comp one, with a ready moveset, evtrain it, and then level through storyline. I did that with my Hitmonlees- worked awesome. hihats
I'm trying to avoid ev training as it is time consuming and the poke will probably reach above lvl. 50 during the run. But i definitely see the benefit of ev training the sweeper. Might set up an EV chain for 5 sweepers and i'll be good for a while. Which OU comps can be made cheaply/easily (movesets)? IV and nature don't matter too much IMO since level difference. Looking forward to the updated guide and the Hoenn Region. Just did a run with Nidoking - Sludge bomb, ice beam, thunderbolt and surf. It was kinda clunky and I died a few times. I didn't find much use to sludge bomb. The staryu run I did before that was much smoother. Link to comment

Mmm then I think you could try with a special dragonite but that's hard to lvl up and breed at least 2x31 since dratini is not easy to catch, I think gengar, alakazam, starmie, xatu are the best special sweepers you could have to do alts Link to comment
RysPicz
Still possibly nothing can beat Starmie, I need to make few alts on my own to deduce what's gonna be what, few trainers became very profitable (giving around 2k while they got only one or 2 pokes), might compensate the amount of pokeyen spent on TMs and water stone to get your Star running. That'll still take me a little bit so if anyone will find out anything, please let me know here- I'll update the guide with it ;) Bishav 1 Link to comment

I'm away from home for 14 hours per day and I even work in weekends (saturday only actually, but still), I'll get back to working on it once my life will slow down a bit. You can just get your team to help you with it can't you? Link to comment
RysPicz
You can just get your team to help you with it can't you? This is a thing I have to do alone on my own, I cannot ask or force any other people to do altruns and note things for me. I'm doing it for people, not the other way around Link to comment
hihats
So I just did a Kanto run with Gastly/haunter with amulet coin. I took some notes on the time it took and the cash I earned. For those of you who might be interested, here are a few comments on the run. Took 5.07 hours and earned 425k in cash, not counting all the TMs, PP ups, exp share, etc... -To start, I used squirtle with lucky egg up until Mount Moon (not necessary, but made things faster). Then I used lvl 21 gastly and lvl 19 wartortle to beat Misty. -Gastly performed well until after I beat the fourth Gym. Had a bit of trouble beating Kogas gym with Haunter. Blaine was also a near miss, barely made it alive. -I mostly beat only the mandatory trainers. I did take time to beat the burglars in pokemon mansion and blaines gym as well as all of ruin valley and island 7. -Haunter wasn't able to make it through Victory road alone. Had to use my backup lvl. 100 sweeper. Aside from that all the Pre E4 stuff went decent/well. -I beat E4 with lvl 100 starmie. - In Sevii islands, Haunter had some problems with a few of the routes. He died a couple of times. Had to complete with Starmie. -Aside from that Haunter performed admirably. Would have probably been a bit smoother if I had bothered to evolve him. Kanto Run # 3 Sweeper: Gastly Start lvl: 19 Level after Giovanni Gym 57 Hardy (No stat change) 25 sp.Atk, 27 speed, No EV training Moves: Cost ($) Giga drain 20000 Psychic 30000 Thunderbolt (Celadon game corner) 12000 Shadow ball (Learn at lvl 33) Utility Pokes: E4 Sweeper Lvl 100 Starmie (Surf, psychic, Thunderbolt and Icebeam) HM Slave 1: Dragonite (Strength, Waterfall, Surf, Fly) HM Slave 2: Paras (Flash, Cut, Dig, Rock Smash) Time: (hours) (mins) Preparation (transfering Pokes, repels) 10mins Part 1 (Brock, Misty, Lt. A few Tms (EQ, sludge bomb, etc.. sell pretty fast and easy). Same goes for PP ups. Easily netting another 400k. Edited April 25, 2015 by hihats Arimanius and RysPicz 2 Link to comment
