How the VGC format will work:

Everyone comes with a team of 6 Pokémon. Yes you can change these teams every round. When I call your and your opponents name you will face each other and state which 6 Pokémon you have, example:

 

Me: DoubleJJ vs Robofiend

DoubleJJ: I have: Delibird, Jynx, Pilofcrap, Kingdra, Heracross, Mr. Mom

Robofiend: I have Tyranitar, Snorlax, Kingdra, Quagsire, Blissey and Venusaur

Now you can pick the four Pokémon you want to take to battle with you, remember it's a 4v4 Doubles format. You have one minute to decide your 4 team members (Amanu you may not participate), pick those four and stash the other two in the PC. If you use a Pokémon you haven't stated you'd have you will be disqualified.
