Randomly Spawning Items

I have a non canon idea about items randomly spawning in towns across the map. There could be a system announcement to announce that an item has spawned in a town. Then it is up to the playerbase to find the item using the itemfinder, somewhere in the town. To make it worthwhile, the item would be something of reasonable value and use, e.g., an exp share, a rare tm, pp max, a lucky egg etc. They can occur at the same frequency as swarms or even once a day. The idea can go even further so that the first person to find the item (announced on system announcement) can recieve a small prize for being the first, or even receives two of the items that are spawned.

Pros:

Excitement generated in the game such as when a new swarm is announced.

Renewable items/tms

More player/staff interaction

Something to do

you do realize the item finder would only work on that 1 spot and does not indicate where it could possibly see other wise you would have to use it for each step and that is just to tedious for 1 item even if it could be a lucky egg. or a rare TM

umm yea thats why there would be a prize for the person who found it

oh like this. *steps on a tile nothing there...steps on another tile nothing there* GM: The item has spawned near a pond! *everyone floods to "near the pond" still cant find it* GM: Guys its in the water! * someone finds it after looking in the water* so in this example the GM's hint pretty much gives it away since you still have to check EVERY tile. And what happens if an item spawns and there is no GM online? so if that happens again it is too tedious as stated before. And do you realize how many Tiles are in the game? SHT TON MAN. Especially in Celedon, Saffron City.

 

As Stated before by Rache if the item finder was tweaked a bit i can see this working but atm this wont work. :l

 

Sides im sure the GMs are too busy to get in game to give hints when an item spawns with them working on "updates"

A much better way to approach 'randomly spawning items' is dungeons.  Everyone knows they're coming, and every good dungeon should also have opportunities for loot, with better loot being rarer and only available in harder dungeons.

 

A system where they just appear on the map is sort of pointless - there isn't that much of a challenge in getting them besides the tedious job of checking everywhere.
