You don't have to take it easy. The first time I ever drank I did maybe 15 shots over the course of maybe like 3 hours, that's not as much as some people but I'm pretty lightweight when it comes to drinking.

 

The secret is not putting fucking salt into your drink. Seriously, what the fuck Batman.

I don't recommend doing that the first time you drink for anyone reading this hahah. Just make sure you're enjoying what you're drinking (it's okay to mix and be a wimp at first), make sure you're either locked in your house or with people you know and trust, and monitor the amount you're drinking.

Yes, being publicly intoxicated is umm.. breaking the law in certain situations. Here it's fine to be drunk in public and out at night, but if you seem "too drunk" and do anything then you're in trouble. I can't really speak for the states but I am sure it's about the same.
