Or maybe its time for that "Official Ranking System" we've heard so much about... "Be In The Top X, You Get Priority". And then throw out "Unranked Official Tournaments" where anyone can sign up. Fixes most of the issues.

To be honest...that would be tragic for a number of reasons...which I will not get into

Qualifications tournaments are, as far as I can tell, the best and most fair system for selecting participants. For tournaments with such huge prizes, its really quite a shame to have "chance" play such a significant role.

We aren't going to restrict entry for official events unless it is an extraordinary circumstance (aka Master's Invitatioal).

It's a good Idea, I like it. Only issue I see with this, is that you have a core group of members and a few randoms that show up. So do you keep the top 8 or whatever out of the next tourny that is considered a qualifier to give more people a chance to qualify?

But you would still be doing unrestricted official events. Its the fact that you'd be putting the "consistently competitive" people against each other via the Ranking System and then the Unranked Official events would be for those who play casually but might wanna try competitive out before diving head first into it/wanna try their hand at winning a sweet prize.

Everyone gets what they want.
