Discantdecai
Hello! As I was passing my time on Random battles I came across a situation Thing is I got really confused by it, might be my ignorance on pokemon but here's the case Kingler (Life orb) against a Venonat (Black Sludge) 1st turn we substitute 2nd turn Venonat Quiver dances and Kingler uses Return with common recoil from life orb, getting rid of Venonat's sub 3rd turn Venonat uses bug buzz and debilitated Kingler bypassing the Kingler sub that was still up Did this happen because one of Venonat's abilities? Or was it the Life Orb recoil that caused that? Since I have never catched one I don't know what they do could somebody help me clear this up? https://c.tenor.com/32t_NW33P34AAAAM/kingler-pokemon.gif BrokenJoker 1 Link to comment
Rache
Sound-based moves like Bug Buzz bypass Substitute. Discantdecai 1 Link to comment
Helixg
Moves like bug buzz or most sound based moves can bypass substitute. So no life orb recoil was not the cause of this and even if it was you would would have taken no additional damage only the substitute would fade. Link to comment
