Is the Metal Coat carry rate on Onix in Mt. Moon broken?

I've been grinding for about 2 days now to get a metal coat from the onix that spawn in Mt Moon, but so far ive found 3 Hard Stones and 3 Lagging Tails but no Metal Coat. Does that item spawn on the onix in Mt. Moon? Or is it a much lower carry rate?

 

And before anyone says there are easier ways to get them, I know that, I'm doing a Professor Oaks Challenge and need it before I pass mt moon.

Yeah uhhh Onix evolves with metal coat, but it does not hold metal coat in the wild.

That is actually a property of magnemite.

It's held not only by wild Magnemites; also Magnetons, Beldums, Metangs, Bronzors, Bronzongs and Skarmorys can hold the item.

 

As for the chance, it should be around 5%.

 

The easiest way to obtain one is just paying 5k in the GTL.

Onix does have a chance to hold Metal Coat. It's just a rare item on a species that's rare in the area, so it'll take a while to get one that way. The chance is identical for all Onixes, regardless of location.

Yeah it seems to be impossible to get on one, I've been looking for nearly a week now and have a butt load of items from them but no metal coat :'(

atleast you have what most players don't seem to have when exiting mount moon. items to sell for potions/revives!

you can get a metal coat easily from bronzors if am right
