Hello,

You can cut trees by using the HM01 Cut (teaching the move to one of your Pokémon). You can find the location for this here:

And yes, you can travel from region to region from the following cities:

Kanto: Vermilion City

Hoenn: Slateport City

Unova: Castelia City

Sinnoh: Pastoria City

 

You need 4+ badges in the particular regions to use the ships. You can however travel to other regions as well before obtaining 2 badges (4 in Sinnoh) by talking to your NPC mom in the starter towns.

Johto is not implemented here, so you unfortunately cannot do that. ^^ There is currently no information about when Johto will be released.

Yes, almost all 2nd gen Pokémon (including starters) are available in the game to be caught, except the Legendary ones.

You actually only need 4 badges in your starting region.After that any badge is fine when you get to boat.

Unova first when i played did not let me travel until i had 4 badges.

After that hoenn i was able with 2 badges and i even tried kanto with 1 badge and it was fine.

ngl, this reminds me of people asking global how to cut down the weird tree in kanto. "ask the old man for a axe!" XD

 

Then when they get mad, someone will tell them to water it. Then that person thinks that global is trolling them. I don't see that question that much anymore, but it always goes that way.
