Help with first team

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I'm brand new to competitive battling and am trying to put my first team together for OU tier. I already bred a Scizor and a Jolteon and I'm trying to figure out what my other four Pokemon should be.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

could be worth trying a bulky heavy hitter instead of gengar, something like conkeldurr or reuniclus. jolteon and gengar fill a similar role in that they are both special sweepers.

i also like lefties on gyara instead of life orb, typing and intimidate give it good chances to switch in and i feel life orb kind of takes away that longevity

both of these give a few more defensive options as well instead of having to switch to skarm or blissey predominately

Thank you for the suggestions guys! Sounds like I'll be making a few moveset changes and will give Gyarados leftovers.

@Kupokun would you mind clarifying what you meant by "Jolteon hold specs"?

And @DaftCoolio would Tyranitar be considered a bulky heavy hitter to use instead of Gengar if I had this setup?

@Kupokun Ok thanks!

-Jolteon with choise spects its not good. Its better wise glasses/xpert belt/letftovers. if you use choise spects is easy to stop it and also you could lose the voltswitch adventage.

-Another advise, dont ev train 252 PS pokemons that are not trickroom users. You should study the speed on that tier and invest evs to surpass checks and counters if you could.
