Marriage Partner/Best Friend

Squall

Question

rS7FE.png

Okay, first of all I am sure that when many of you'll saw the title, you'll were like WTF?

It is not that strange as 'Marriage' is an option which is available in many games (including MMOs) such as Skyrim, the Rune Factory Series, RuneScape, Maplestory and etc.

I think that it would be a pretty cool thing to add to PokeMMO once the Devs have free time on their hands.

Another option called "Best Friend" has been included for those of you'll who don't prefer the word "marriage".

Okay now back on topic.

This idea is based from the Anime SAO, where once a person gets married they have the ability to withdraw items from each other's inventory. The same benefits apply even if you chose "Best Friend".

This is what I suggest:

1). Once you are married/once you have chosen a best friend you have the option of 'instant withdrawing' (for items) with your marriage partner/best friend without needing to meet him/her. But to prevent possible scamming, you have to get for his/her permission first.

How this could be helpful:

  • Lets say for example that you are farming for good IVed Dittos and Koffings in Cinnabar Mansion's basement.
  • You then notice that you are running low on Pokeballs.
  • If you partner is online, you can get your partner's permission to withdraw some Pokeballs from his/her inventory since you don't want to go through all the trouble of exiting Cinnabar Mansion and making your way to the basement again!
2). Once married/you have chosen a Best Friend, your Pokedex would be shared with your partner and every Pokemon that one person has seen, the other person would have seen too!

How this could be helpful:

  • Well this won't be helpful in any particular way but it would be a nice addition to these options.
  • One possible way It will help out your partner is if he/she joined recently and couldn't meet any of the 'Limited Edition' Pokemon.
3). You can 'instant trade' Pokemon (who are in your Party/PC) with your Partner (exclusively for people who are married/have a best friend only)! Once again, permission is required to prevent possible spamming.

How this could be helpful:

  • If your partner needs a Pokemon of a particular type 'desperately' to defeat a Gym Leader or a Trainer and you happen to be busy EV Training or farming for Pokemon, this option would be helpful ^^

4). New items can be bought (as suggested by Darkshade).

How this could be helpful:

  • I don't need to explain this, do I?

5~?). Any other ideas you'll can come up with would be appreciated.

To prevent possible scamming:

1). When 'instant trading' or 'instant withdrawing' the partner who is requesting the trade or withdrawal has to obviously get permission from the other partner(mentioned earlier).

2). Once you get married, you cannot 'divorce' for one month's time, so choose your partner carefully! xD

If you choose a Best Friend, you cannot choose another one for one month's time! So pick a proper friend.

Well that's all I have to say! I also added spoilers to make this suggestion look as short as possible! :L

I like the idea and I would insta use this if the game came out with this feature with my in real life partner but...

10 Year old Kids marrying other 10 Year Old Kids in Pokemon would cause a lot mockery to both the community in-game and outside this game. That and even with your safety checks for scammers it would only increase the rate of inexperienced players getting scammed. Lastly...

We're going to see a lot of "LF>Wife. I am rich with tons of Shinies! Must be Asian"!

Okay I like this idea, wanna know why? Because I could "marry" one of my other accounts and have one be out catching/farming Pokemon and then just share items and Pokemon when the guy in the field runs low. Basically my one account won't ever visit a PokeCenter ever again, and the other one will not leave the PokeCenter ever. When one Persian runs low on PP for Payday I can swap it with a fully healed one, and repeat that indefinitely. Same with items.

Am I back in Runescape?

"Type 111 if you want a gf!!!!!!"

This thread disappoints my sides...

Edit:

On a serious note, I like the concept of the idea. Sharing boxes between two accounts/people is a great idea. But don't bring the word "marriage" into it. That ruins the credibility of the idea unfortunately.

If you could find another word to use (Partner, Team, Friend, etc) then I'm sure this could work.

Another thing, why couldn't there just be a box for entire teams? Sort of like a bank, which could hold items, money, and pokemon. Have a select group run it, who have high enough permissions, and once you are in the team for long enough, or given the permissions, then you are able to deposit and withdraw from the box.

In a previous MMO I have played, there was a 'Lover' system, after a week had passed, between you, you would be rewarded with lover points.

These coins could be spent a special shop to buy items in game.

The longer you had been together, the more coins you got at the end of the week.

I think this system would work quite nicely, and could possibly used to buy items, whether they be potions, pokeballs, or perhaps special cosmetic items.

I've already made a bridal veil, and would like to make some full wedding outfits, Though I feel an actual 'wedding' would be something you'd need to work towards.

I believe this system could work quite nicely in PokeMMO, although some may be skeptical at the idea of it.

Even if you wanted to strip away the status of 'lover' it allows you to become good friends with someone.

Then I could finally get married to Croix.

Seeing as I haven't played the game for a few months, there isn't anything useful in my inventory for you to take, my Pokedex doesn't have any rare Pokemon on it, and the Pokemon I do have won't do much good in any tournament. I would be a very bad wife/husband.

See, once you marry all of his possessions will be yours and you won't have nothing anymore.

So, I marry some girl, everything's nice for a month, and then woop: I have no money, no pokemon, no items, no hats.

Sounds like the real thing.

I did mention on my post that the other partner has to give his/her consent for the withdrawal to take place, so if you don't want a particular item to be withdrawn, simply reject the withdrawal! <<

If you could find another word to use (Partner, Team, Friend, etc) then I'm sure this could work.

How about you have it as best friends instead of marriage?

Weeeell since many of you'll are skeptical about the word 'marriage', how about we include 'best friend' as an option too, with the same benefits(like you'll mentioned)? ^^

1). Marriage Partner

2). Best Friend

The same 'one month limitation' would apply to both of these options and the other possible benefits that Darkshade mentioned would also be included ^^

Seems like it could be pretty easily exploitable and puts even MORE of an advantage to those going through the game with a group rather then a single person having fun in the MMO based world of Pokemon.

Besides that. You remember the characters are supposed to be kids? I think marriage is outta place in Pokemon. It'd be interesting and have a few good points but I'd personally rather not see it.

Then again I'm a loner in the game and haven't played in probably a month or so. Soooo I suppose my opinion is rather bias.

I wish I had asked someone to take a pic of that day ;_;

Just for you'll, I asked an accomplice of mine to take a picture of that 'memorable day' ;)
