Trying to get started in LC

Hi there!

 

I've been thinking to get into LC comp battles lately, I think I'm ready to jump into it. I would like some advice on which pokemons to breed.

 

1) These are some mons I would like to play but I'm not sure on how competitive they are: Mienfoo, Hippopotas, Gastly, Abra, Growlithe, Servine, Bulbasaur, Chimchar, Dratini, Aipom, Digglet, Larvitar, Omanyte, Porygon, Doduo, Digglet, Foongus, Snover, Ferroseed.

 

2) I usually enjoy playing Balance teams meeting all these conditions: 1 Stealth Rock setter, 1 defoger, 1 choice scarf, 1 bulky water type, and not weak to Set-Up strategies. I prefer to lose to Offensive teams rather than to stall or set-up teams.

 

3) Also would like to know which OP startegies should I be prepared against (I already heard of Arena Trap and Shell Smash hehe)

Mienfoo - the best LC Pokemon

Hippopotas - not commonly used but has potential

Gastly - as Misdreavus got banned, it started to take over as THE ghost-type of LC

Abra - not commonly used and tough time breaking through Vullaby, but still good

Growlithe - hard time to argue to use this over other Fire-types

Servine - Defog is nice (Snivy is the first form btw)

Bulbasaur - not great

Chimchar - also meh

Dratini - lackluster coverage, hard to sweep anything with DD

Aipom - not bad but not super useful

Digglet - trapping is super powerful and boosts Mienfoo

Larvitar - meh 

Omanyte - decent smash sweeper

Porygon - great wall

Doduo - not the best bird

Foongus - not great until Regenerator is a thing

Snover - hard to use but Scarf Blizzard is strong

Ferroseed - probably the most overall useful LC (but absolute nightmare to play because everything uses HP Fire for this alone)
