Implement pokérus

Grisaia

Question

Doesn't have to be as rare as shinies, something like 1/5-10k would be good enough IMO

Pkrs boost: +30% exp and double EV gains

Pokérus is permanent when its obtained from a wild pokemon or from an egg. You can breed a pokemon with Pokérus (shouldn't require both parents to have it) for the egg to have permanent pkrs.

You can infect pokemon on your party with temporary pokerus, it should last around 20 minutes and only give a 10-15% exp boost. After the effect is over, the pokemon is cured and cant ever have it again.

Would also be nice to see a custom particle for pokérus mons.

Hmmm

Implementing original pokerus is not going to happen.

However, I can think of a pokerus item that works exactly like lucky eggs/amulet coins. Obtainable from, idk, poison type pokemons(?)

EV training service providers could benefit from this. So they can double up their productivity.

I know it would break the game to implement it as-is, but dont you like my suggestion? If so, why? Also, Pokerus is a virus, implementing it as an item would be very stupid and unnecessary

Pokerus would still need to be reasonably rare, bearing in mind that the vanilla infection rate was roughly 1 in 21,845. So almost as rare as a shiny.

As for the boost, that is a different topic for discussion. You are essentially combining Macho Brace and a nerfed Lucky Egg without the negative effects of Macho Brace. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't see much downside to it right out of the box. The downsides to this come later in your post.

Pokerus in the vanilla games only lasts up to 4 days. It's never been permanent and making it permanent will have an opposite effect. You get a person who has Pokerus on a wild catch, they use that in breeding to keep Pokerus on offspring to breed and level up comps real fast. After that comp has lost its use it will either be sold or used to breed again. There is no incentive to keep catching wild Pokemon with the status if you can get one and make it permanent through breeding.

It'd be a shame if they didn't allow the chance for Pokerus to spread among your party, but the boost it provides shouldn't change because it wasn't a wild catch. That's getting out into the weeds on the idea. Keep it simple because that allows less room for error. The temporary effect is the part that needs to be in line with everything related to Pokerus. Vanilla games always made it temporary and having two variants based on breeding/wild or not is splitting mechanics in a manner that doesn't even make sense. The best way to make this work is to do a 10%-20% exp boost + double EVs for up to 4 in game days, the in game clock moves at 4 times the speed of real life, so 1 day real life = 4 days in game with 1 in game day being 6 hours in length. So the minimum time for Pokerus to be on a given Pokemon could be 6 hours, or lower if deemed necessary.

Why? You can't really show it off as much as shiny mons and the effect isn't even all that great since its limited to 1 mon, and even 1/10k is still rare (okay 1/5k is a bit much since PokeMMO's playerbase is so large rn). 400-500k for that kind of effect considering you still have to waste money and time breeding to pass pokerus seems fair, not worth it unless you really want to show off or are really lazy

I get your point there (I think?), but you're overestimating it. 10-15% exp boost for 20 minutes isn't all that great since you lose time passing pokerus to the pokemon you want to train, and you can always nerf it if its broken.

PokeMMO isn't the vanilla games though. And of course it does make sense - the way different beings react to the same virus can be different after all. Maybe add some random % in that if you really want to reflect that :)
