Now for anyone that is in this thread that wants some real advice on how to make friends, then I can give a few points (the spoilers will show you how not to conduct your conversations):

1. Be cool, don't get worked up about the little things.

System Message: (Doug defeated [Insert your name here] in a duel)

Doug: "gg"

You: "Argh, you only won because of RNG. I would have beaten you if Will-O-Wisp landed."

System Message: (You are no longer friends with Doug)

System Message: (You were blocked by Doug)

Or

System Message: (You defeated Trina in a duel)

Trina: "gg"

You: "Ha, go away newb!"

System Message: (You are no longer friends with Trina)

System Message: (You were blocked by Trina)

2. Try to understand what people are trying to tell you.

Bob: "Oh, I have to go to the bathroom...."

You: "That's great, but I would like to ask about my Hydreigon. Should I run it mixed or have it specialise in special attack?"

Bob: "Come on man! Go to the Competitive Assistance section on forums."

System Message: (You are no longer friends with Bob)

System Message: (You were blocked by Bob)

3. Ask him/her how he/she is doing when in the introduction stage of a conversation. It creates good rapport from the start. Also, wish him/her a nice day.

You: "Hello"

Michael: "Hello"

You: "So, what do you think about Gengar?"

Michael: "Well Gengar is great, but Hydreigon is a tad better."

Michael's Mind: "Man I wish that [Insert your name here] would ask how I am doing. Am I chopped liver?"

You: "Well I am going to get going. Bye!"

Michael: "Bye...."

Michael's Mind: "Man, [Insert Your Name Here] doesn't care about me."

Sometimes, people specify that they can do without the usual greetings which in that case, you can go straight to the conversation. However, when I speak with people, I want to see if their in a good, neutral, or bad mood. In order for me to gauge that, I either hear subtle cues like "Hey, I am quite busy" or I ask him/her how he/she is doing.

4. Help them out in times of need.

Tom: "Hey [Insert your name here], I need my Haunter to evolve. Can you trade him back to me once he evolves?"

You: "There are mods out on the Global Chat, so don't bother me, thanks."

Tom: "What friend you are, the moderators are quite busy and I have a friend right here where I am."

You: "Yes, but I am a player and I log on just for fun. Good luck man."

System Message: (You are no longer friends with Tom)

You: "Why?"

System Message: (You were blocked by Tom)

5. Try not to discuss topics that are taboo in normal conversation.

Sally: "So how is the weather?"

You: "Great, but did you hear about [insert political comment here]?"

Sally: "I come on PokeMMO to relax. If I want to catch up on my news, then I can go to a news channel that I trust."

You: "That is a shame, Global always discusses great topics."

Sally: "I can't..."

(You are no longer friends with Sally)

You: "but, I want to get your opinion on..."

(You were blocked by Sally)

I am not a trained therapist, but I've been around in life to know how to make friends. Hopefully, this advice can be helpful for those who need it (I tried to insert humour so that the lesson can be remembered much better).

Want to make this advice better? Just tell them to do random shit. People seem to like that and often add you because they think you are funny or just because you don't look like an npc. Then just keep doing/sending random shit to them when you wanna talk to get the ball rolling. Worked great for me and it made me find nice people that aren't sensitive about everything.
