1. Breeding is too easy. Plain and simple. Now-a-days if a pokemon doesn't have a couple 31 IVs then it isn't up to par with the norm. My suggestion is to either: 1. Change the direct IV inheritance of 3 IVs to be weighted. (i.e. if a parent has an IV of 0, then that IV will have a 100% chance to pass to be chosen as one of the three IVs to be directly passed to the offspring. If a parent has an IV of 31, then it has a 5% chance of being chosen as one of the three IVs to be passed to the offspring.) If there are more than three 0 IVs between the two parents, then three are randomly chosen in the pool of 0 IVs (or you could make it to where all 0 IVs are passed). or 2. Just remove direct inheritance all together (less of an impact than the first option). Pros to Option 1: Makes breeding more difficult Might encourage the catching of more pokemon? Cons to Option 1: Can't think of any Thoughts? I kinda thought of this off the top of my head and in a very short time. I don't know if it would be good or not. Feel free to offer suggestions of your own about something that you think should be changed about this suggestion.
  2. So i thought about a gender flag to be unlocked to shorten the time even more. Something like: you can only unlock the gender flag with/against the same species as the egg. thoughts?
  3. I checked, didn't really see anything along the lines of this. This would act as a pure money sink overall making breeding better for those who are actively breeding. The names & values can be changed to better fit the mmo based on feedback. Upgrade 1(Better Food?) - The parents children will get 1 (flag?) egg move known on birth. Upgrade 2(Better Landscape?) - The parents children will get a 20%* chance to have a +1* to the maximum IV they can achieve (assuming its not a 31).* Can be rounded up higher or lower. Upgrade 3(Larger Area?) - The parents children will get 2 egg moves known at birth. Upgrade 4(Better staff?) - No matter what parents you use (ex; You+You = like each other compared to You+You = Get along) Upgrade 5(Premium food?) - The parents children will get 3 egg moves known at birth. Upgrade 6(Professional Breeders?) - All 4 egg moves known at birth. Upgrade 7(New habitats?) - Same as upgrade 2, but say 40% chance to add a (+2 or +3?) to the maximum IV possible via parents. Possible cost per upgrade? ( Can be higher or lower based on feedback ) 1) 40,000 2) 80,000 3) 150,000 4) 200,000 5) 250,000 6) 350,000 7) 500,000 Option to build a sort of pokemon sonogram machine? * Find the eggs gender once you get it for say between 1000-3000? This will not act as a extra flag. Cost 50,000 to build it in ? The old man/lady can do the process for you similar to the guy on cinnibar. Sorry if it just sounds stupid or overall a bad idea.
  4. I want to make a small request of the developers: Kyu stated that IV inheritance would be reworked in a way that "makes the pokemon inside the egg more valuable". While I think that the new system is a step in the right direction, I don't believe it really accomplishes this. The inheritance rework eliminated the opporunity to breed pokemon in a way that covered up holes in their IVs. For instance, it used to be possible to breed a naive pokemon with a 0-5 stat in spdef with a ditto to get and expect to get an offspring with a usable spdef stat after some time (assuming the ditto had such a stat that could be passed or RNG'd into something slightly better). The current system would only allow such a pokemon to produce a baby with a maximum of 15-20 in that stat, and only if the other parent had 31 spdef. The old system gave you a chance to RNG out your pokemon's lower stats while the new one makes the offspring's stats worse or equal to at best. Similarly, there is no reward for breeding pokemon with natures beneficial to their IVs, which I find somewhat problematic. I think that the best fix for this is creating a lower bound (similar to "average of parents' IVs upper bound) that prevents you from breeding two adamant pokemon with 31 attack IVs and getting a child with 0-5 attack. Why not install a system that creates a lower bound on offspring's IVs when the parents have 20+ in a stat? For instance, the two pokemon described above would have no chance of breeding a baby with less than 1/4 of their parents average IV (1/4 chosen arbitrarily). The advantage of this is clear: although it's still possible to get offspring with a 7 attack stat, it is comparably much more likely that the pokemon will come out with a usable attack stat. The upper bound could stay, meaning that two pokemon with attack ivs = 25 would produce a baby with an attack IV between 6-25, making breeding a little bit less harsh. The new inheritance rules also allow for IVs to be passed, regardless of how good/bad they are- but the chances of passing the exact IVs you want seem unfathomably low. There are 12 stats to choose from (each parent has 6) and 3 are passed. Lets say you want 3 IVs to pass from either parent and that these 3 IVs are similar from parent to parent (maybe you are breeding walls and you only want good hp/def/spdef). The total number of possible configurations of inherited IVs is (12choose3).The probability of getting the 3 you want to pass are [6]/[12choose3] or [3]/[12choose3] + [3]/[12choose3], as their are 6 ivs that will work divided by the total number of possible stats that could be inherited. This math works out to be 0.02727272727 which is a heinously low probability! You'd still have to breed around 50 of that pokemon to get one that you liked purely from inheritance! Given that the chances for getting a high roll in a stat that isn't inherited are also low, this works out to make breeding a probabilistic nightmare! [DISCLAIMER: please correct me or argue with me about the math if you think that I am wrong or have somehow misinterpreted something] Given that the nature system has also been reworked, I don't see this as economy breaking. We now have 5% less chance of receiving the nature we want when breeding two pokemon of the same nature- making getting good-natured pokemon with good IVs more difficult. TL;DR - some math and a plea for a slight adjustment in breeding mechanics
  5. A simple suggestion, Have the "Species" Flag trigger when fighting evolutions of said pokemon (Or using one) EG: It's impossible to run into an Omastar / Omanyte in the wild, So you need to bring your own However you evolved your only omanyte to Omastar so you can't trigger the flag. Solution: Have using Omastar 5 times trigger the flag too. Pros: It makes sense, it doesn't break the system making it super easy, its slightly more forgiving if you evolved your "Super ultra rare pokemon" (I know fossils aren't now but they used to be!) Cons: .... The fact i spent 10 mins thinking of cons and not being able to find one speaks for itself. Thanks for reading!

    Egg Tier Guide

Below you will find a list of the egg tiers in PokeMMO, taken from Kyu's guide to Breeding Mechanics. Some people were finding the guide difficult to find so I thought I would make the information that most players want more accessible. Please refer to this guide to learn how to hatch eggs. Egg hatch difficulty has been rebalanced based on the difficulty to obtain the Pokemon in game. There are 7 tiers of difficulty used, scaling from 44 points to 164 points required to hatch: Tier 1: 44
Zubat Paras Diglett Psyduck Poliwag Tentacool Ponyta Seel Gastly Krabby Tangela Horsea Goldeen Magikarp Hoothoot Hoppip Poochyena Zigzagoon Whismur Carvanha Wailmer Spinda Barboach Corphish Shuppet Duskull Clamperl
Tier 2: 64
Caterpie Weedle Pidgey Rattata Spearow Venonat Meowth Mankey Slowpoke Magnemite Doduo Grimer Shellder Onix Voltorb Koffing Sentret Ledyba Spinarak Chinchou Pichu Marill Sunkern Wooper Girafarig Dunsparce Swinub Stantler Smeargle Wurmple Lotad Seedot Taillow Wingull Makuhita Azurill Sableye Mawile Meditite Electrike Numel Torkoal Swablu Spheal Roselia
Tier 3: 84
Ekans Sandshrew Oddish Abra Machop Bellsprout Geodude Drowzee Exeggcute Rhyhorn Staryu Natu Mareep Sudowoodo Murkrow Misdreavus Wobbuffet Gligar Qwilfish Heracross Remoraid Phanpy Miltank Shroomish Nincada Nosepass Aron Plusle Minun Volbeat Illumise Gulpin Spoink Trapinch Cacnea Zangoose Seviper Lunatone Solrock Baltoy Wynaut
Tier 4: 104
Bulbasaur Charmander Squirtle NidoranF NidoranM Vulpix Growlithe Cubone Chikorita Cyndaquil Totodile Cleffa Igglybuff Aipom Yanma Pineco Snubbull Sneasel Slugma Corsola Houndour Treecko Torchic Mudkip Tropius Snorunt Luvdisc
Tier 5: 124
Farfetch'd Dratini Shuckle Teddiursa Delibird Larvitar Ralts Surskit Slakoth Skitty Absol Relicanth Bagon
Tier 6: 144
Lickitung Mantine Chansey Kangaskhan Mr. Mime Scyther Tauros Pinsir Eevee Togepi Skarmory Tyrogue Smoochum Elekid Magby Feebas Beldum Snorlax
Tier 7: 164
Porygon Lapras Omanyte Kabuto Aerodactyl Lileep Anorith Castform Kecleon Chimecho
7. I would love to actually get a chance to breed shiny pokemon, seeing as how most players breed hundreds of eggs a week.
  8. Egg Group Bridges Introduction Hello guys, this is not much of a guide but I am sure it will make the life of some people easier. It's a guide on all generation 1-3 Egg Group Bridges (Including the non-implemented ones) Feel free to bookmark it, copy/paste the images for an easier use. Please read carefully because all the informations you gonna need are in here. Also if you find an issue with anything related to this guide feel free to tell me in a reply. How-To use I made a Chart with all the Egg Group Bridges. Water 1 and Field are the main groups, both connecting to almost all the other groups. Okay so you choose Pokemon A let's say he is Monster Group and he is the father knowing a Egg move Then you have Pokemon B, she is the pokemon you want to get the Egg move to, she is in the Grass Group and she is a female. But you can't breed them directly. So you look at my chart. You see that betwen Monster and Grass there are two pokemons Meganium and Venusaur. You check which one of them can learn the Egg Move on Bulbapedia. Let's say Venusaur can learn the move. So now you breed Pokemon A with the Female Venusaur to get a Male Venusaur with that Egg Move, and you Breed Male Venusaur with Pokemon B. Another thing worth mentioning is that Smeargle is in Field Egg Group and he can learn any move, this can be usefull to get moves known only by pokemon from a closed Egg Group (Without any egg bridge/the only bridge/s are not implemented) All Pokemon names that look like this are not implemented at the time of writting this. Main

Water 1

Field
Yup i didn't include Nidoqueen for a reason, she can't breed
And that's all about this thing. What a great way to make my first post on the forums, right? Sorry for my poor English/Writing if I made any mistake. Hope atleast the life of one single person is easier now.
  9. This is the only thing that makes me wish to play generation 6. The Destiny Knot. Its a held item whose primary affect says, if the user becomes infatuated so does the opponents. It's secondary affect however is particularly interesting. It raises the likelyhood of the parents passing on their IVs to the child. An item like this would mean less time spent in breeding hell and more time spent battling in tournaments. It would also mean players battling in tournaments would be more likely to be the ones with the best strategies, rather than the ones that have been playing the longest/have the most money.
  10. Simply, a message that tells you when an egg is laid in the daycare. Not much else to say on the matter.

    PokeNotes

This was an old thread that deserved a make-over. Now, more than ever, we are finding out that organization can mean everything. Breeding hundreds of similar Pokemon with no way to differentiate between them is exhausting and confusing. There is currently no Name Rater, so even my half-baked method of nicknaming for organization won't work. However, even if the Name Rater were implemented, I would still suggest this because of the enormous benefit to organization. The tab would include these fields: Label: A field existing of 10-20 characters or so to give this Pokemon a unique cover without utilizing the name. Markers: This would be canon. There are six shapes that can be turned on/off to represent various things. A lot of people don't typically use this in the handhelds, but it can be a tremendous help on its own. The Circle(HP), Triangle(Att), Square(Def), Heart(SpA), Star(SpD) and Diamond(Spe) can be used to track offspring, label parents, and do many other things. Main Box: A place to add a lot of information. It should at least contain enough characters for a full IV readout, HP readout and some light fluff.
  12. Ok, I saw the rage over there about this new breeding mechanics, and off course I was used to the bikingmmo. But after some tests, i liked this new way of breeding, but i have some considerations to add. The old way In 4 hours i could get 5 eggs, hatch then and check ivs (the last pokes I breeded was Gligar, Heracross and phanpy) This new way I 4 hours I could have hatched and checked 4 eggs (Phanpy, with 5 or 6 flags, moves, species and ability). So, this new way is clearly slow that the previous one even with all this things to "speed" the hatch process. ok, nobody cares about this, I know, but now I want to share my suggestion. Allow parents IV inheritance Allow to always inherit 3 IVs from the parents, the other 3 can be the same crap as they are today. but lets use some math. we have 6 attributes (HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed), using a neutral nature as example. dividing the chances to pass in equals chances, we could have like 16% to pass, Attack, Defense, SATK, SDEF and Speed, and 20% to pass HP, i picked hp up because there is no nature that improves it. How can i improve my chance to pass the attributes that I want? for instance if i use an Adamant Phanpy as one of my offsprings, how the chances would be? well this Phanpy will have like 20% to pass Attack, and 12% of chance to pass SATK, since its a +Attack -SATK nature, the other percentages will stay the same. Using this factor, you can pick 3 attributes and inherit from his parents, EACH EGG WILL INHERIT 3 ATTRIBUTES FROM ITS PARENTS, ALWAYS. I won't mind to hatch one egg per time IF, I could have a chance to be something good.
sorry for my bad english btw any fix will be gladly accepted.
13. New to Breeding? New to PokeMMO? Well fuck me, I'm here to help. I get a ton of PMs and Whispers on a daily basis asking for advice and whatnot, so I figured I could help more people faster if I just openly allow everyone into my "school" and have them feed me questions. Channel Four has always been my home, and before my leave of absence it used to be an oasis in this community. I aspire to change things back to the way they are, or become a hermit. Island Four is my home base, and I hope to make it ours, as well. Thus, CFIF, or something. Tell your friends. I'm here to help. Staff is welcomed. Although they cannot compete officially, I'm sure they enjoy casual play as much as I do. Blah blah half assed. However, I do have a few rules, because I'm an elitist fgt. Rules No Spamming - This includes Any form of CAPS ALL Repeating questions over and over Memes Green whatever the >fuck Le le le le le le le le Being a faget. Actually, that pretty much covers it. 14. All Incense have a primary held effect and a secondary breeding effect that produces a baby Pokemon when held by the same species Mother. (Not usable with Ditto coupling.) I propose an item much similar to these Incenses (and only found in the Gift Shop) that works in opposition of them, much like the Amnesia Brace to the Macho Brace. Simply, the Adult Incense will prevent a baby Pokemon from being birthed, and instead the adult version will e.g., Pikachu will be born instead of Pichu. The main concern I can see arising, is that Adult Pokemon can be achieved much quicker than normally. Specifically, Magmar, Electabuzz and Jynx can be level 1, where that is normally impossible. However, there really isn't any harm in that. You will be doing it intentional, so you won't accidentally be getting the wrong evolution stage, and any form of Little Cup will not allow these three in the first place. The argument for this, is that baby Pokemon cannot reproduce and therefore these specific Pokemon must be leveled to 30 to continue the breeding process. This was never implemented in the handhelds, but our breeding system is drastically different and I think this would serve a rewarding purpose. You do not get a competitive advantage (much like the Amnesia Brace), but you do have a time advantage. Affects: Pichu Cleffa Igglybuff Togepi Smoochum Elekid Magby Does not affect: Tyrogue Azurill (Incense) Wynaut (Incense) Budew (Incense) Chingling (Incense) Bonsly (Incense) Mime Jr. (Incense) Happiny (Incense) Munchlax (Incense) Riolu (Incense) Mantyke (Incense) Not Yet Implemented
  15. TL; DWR: Pokémon outrun their bad genes over time. Slightly less so: I think it that slow IV boosting over long periods would be an interesting (although non-canonical) addition to the game. It could also easily be capped to make sure breeding remains a requirement to obtain Pokémon with immense stats. Long version. I think it would be nice that for every ingame day (6 hours in real life), each Pokémon in your party would gain 1 IV in a random stat. If that stat was already at or above the cap/31, it would skip its IV boost in that cycle. Although it's not necessary, I think it'd be a great alternative for people who don't want to simply throw out a Pokémon because it's got low IVs. To keep breeding in the arsenal of the top players of competitions, a cap could easily be added so that after, say, 28 or 20 IVs, the boost would no longer apply itself to that skill. 28 would allow those Pokémon of low breed to overcome their shortcomings over a long period and become dangerous competitors, while 20 would allow them to become viable for producing offspring of superior breed regardless of their original poor genes. >inb4 either a massive argument or being completely ignored
