So you're encountering an age old issue with this game and something that wont likely change. There is so much overworld and so little "meat" to chew on so to speak. The community, especially early on was so concerned with wanting more pokemon and places to go that over time thats really become the devs focus for better or for worse. Small detail stuff like this has gone to the wayside thanks to new region and pokemon implementation and the never ending balancing and bug fixing that has come with that. Pokemon wasnt meant to be played like this so the reality is this game will always be comp or social centric with little to do other than grind and explore. Thats supposed to be its charm I guess. More dynamic housing would be great but is probably unlikely to happen do to it really not being an essential game function.

Yeah, but after they implement gen 4 I believe it will pretty hard to make progress, as 3ds emulation is still not easy.. Hopefully we'll see some improvements then.

I mean, there's no 'big hunting' spot near secret bases that I know of, even feebas is single encounter so it wouldn't really ruin anything?

Yeah, looking back in the older threads I dont think the staff's arguments were good at all, and there plenty of ways to solve the """problem""" but they just didn't want to :( . I hope they do reconsider through, given how cool the concept is.

How would farming be easier or cheaper? Unless some specific farming spot is close to a base spot, and even then, would be a terrible excuse not to implement something in this regard.

But well, unova isnt complete yet, nor is hoenn even and was released years ago, so chances are things like this arent likely to happen anytime soon.

Because you would just use the secret base instead of buying Leppas. Its their excuse at least (idk if its justified or not, since I've been away for a while)

  4. Hey. since Platinum is to be released soon (TM), I've been looking back to this game after a long time. Thinking back, I believe Secret Bases are one of the coolest features ever introduced in a Pokemon game, and it at least seemed like they would be even more interesting in a multiplayer like PokeMMO, but they just aren't, because they are still about the same as they were in vanilla: small, and with almost no utility. They are no good even for afking, I'd rather do it in any Pokemon Center because they have a PC. I know that this has been discussed before, and never was done (adding a PC to bases, that is) because it would make secret bases OP by making farming easier/cheaper etc. I dont know how to solve the problem and thats why this post isn't a suggestion, but I believe some thought should be given, as it is such a cool feature that is almost useless in its current state.

No reason to have Magnezone on this team, I'd drop it for Gengar or Reuni to patch up your Fighting-type weakness a bit, or even go with a solid pivot like Eviolite Dusclops.

Skarmory and Ferrothorn can check most mons on this team through, and Mag can take care of these, but I'll listen to you and get a dusclops, as I feel like I also need a spinblocker

Breloom/Conk destroy you, get a psychic type.

Reuniclus? Do you think I should cut Magnezone or Gliscor for this, or maybe even Ferrothorn? Skarmory / Ferrothorn seem to be troublesome without  Mag, and Gliscor is interesting but I didn't try it yet. I'm guessing Ferrothorn is required to take care of bulky water types such as Slowbro?.

Exca should be adamant, and that gliscor set sounds dreadful so I’d change it for acrogem

E: also shed shell instead of lefties on ferro, cb ttar for reun and I personally prefer impish hippo otherwise you straight up lose to opposing exca

Idk what acrogem is, but Sand Veil can be really annoying in sand, I'll at least test it for a while. Agreed on the rest through, thanks for the suggestions.

  8. LF advice on my sandstorm team, I haven't played PokeMMO in a year or so so idk what's trending right now, but I used to really like sand teams in BW OU years ago.

Terrible.  I don't think I've ever read one piece of dialogue and if the game didn't have a hold down button to scroll through it I would've ragequit a long time ago.  People aren't going to talk to randos in pokecenters.  Even if they do, all of this stuff is a chart of information that is more complicated when put into dialogue.  I can go to a webpage to see all the natures at once and its better than taking my pokemon across the world to an inconveniently placed, cryptic npc.

Well I always read them and talk to everyone on my first playthrough (not only in PokeMMO), it adds a lot to the experience and adds some immersion to the game (IMO). While its true that you can just google all of it, if they (the devs) actually want to teach new players about comp, they really should give hints on this stuff during the playthrough.

Then that npc tells me my naive chansey should outspeed stuff but never defend special attacks instead of telling me flat out I gave it a garbage nature and someone with no pvp knowledge brings a choice scarf chansey to their next battle.

It shouldn't tell you that,  it should tell you that your chansey has a slight boost to speed and debuff to sp. def, but whether this is good or not its up to the player to tell

If you want people to access stuff without google, especially for the members who have a communist firewall preventing them from doing so,  put a help tab on the pvp window that has stuff like a type effectiveness chart, nature chart, speed tiers, article about each poke in the tier, things like that.  That way people don't have to run around the world to listen to nauseating dialogue.

That would  help, but its better to teach them little by little than to just throw a lot of information at them, there's no way they'll learn all of it at once.

    1 minute ago, Aard said:

Even with that, I still don't think anyone will actually learn to pvp well from this game alone.  The best pvpers probably had experience on battle simulators where they were mid-ladder before coming here and probably there right now since no one can connect to the server.  It takes to long to build one comp team and a lot of trial and error to figure out how to pvp initially.  A place that lets you build 1 team per minute is going to be easier for people to learn on than a place where you can build 1 team per week.  Some battle factory mode where you fight other players might help this.

Of course, they need experience to actually get good, my suggestion is about teaching the basics.

  10. My suggestion is to add NPCs that tell the player some concepts required for competitive playing and other late-game content (such as breeding), but that most people that just got into the game don't know. They should be at acessible places (such as pokemon centers), and their dialog should be like:

"Did you know that some pokémon natures can raise a stat, but also lower another?"

"My Hitmonlee has an ADAMANT nature, who needs special attacks anyway"

similar ones could also be done about IVs, EVs, optimal movesets, breeding, etc, etc.

  11. I agree 100%. Harder storyline was a pain in the ass at first, but I'm okay with it now that I beat Unova (I wont touch e4 anyway). However, its not right saying its teaching players anything, because all  they have to do is get every mon to the level cap and they'll still be fine,  as long as they didn't bring 6 fire-types or something. The added difficulty is just a money and time sink. Some may enjoy the challenge, but for others (me included) its just an annoyance that they have to deal with before they get to play the real game. IMO something that would be really helpful (I'll write a suggestion about it if no1 else did) is to add NPCs in-game that tells the player what IVs and EVs are, that physical attacks use the atk stat, and special ones the sp. atk stat, etc.
