Defensive 'mence smiles
Every mence set will be useful in the tier, versatile threat,we have proven in the past that it is able to be managed by a handful of walls. Solid defensive cores have ways of dealing with it while it has the ability to outmaneuver them with the many possible sets it can run. It is mostly problematic against offense as it was before. Dd set can sweep offensive cores while special set is difficult to switch into. But it being an offensive threat on its own gives the opportunity to offense to have this threat on its side aswell.

First of all. we need to monitor shaymin and its capabilities in the tier. there is a good chance that it might be too much for UU to handle.
excellent wallbreaking capabilities with seed flare and great stats which allow it to survive many hits and tough to be revenge killed.
So i advise to focus into that.
Venusaur and empoleon are ok additions. no discussion needed there.
About porygon2, the problematic part about it was that except being a defensive powerhouse, it was also very capable offensively. the bulky modest set was insane against offense
and still remains like that. the recovery nerf has hit its longevity but assault vest didnt change to how it oppresses offense as shown before in the thread.
But i believe that the tier being much wider than before might ease this issue a bit by applying more pressure to it than before and making it generally more difficult to keep freely coming in. the tier now has more strong hard hitters and wallbreakers that can pressure the modest variant a lot.
So in my opinion a test can be justified. though i believe porygonZ makes much more sense to re-appear on the tier than porygon2. it seems that it can be handled much better than before with the introduction of AV.

My eyes on salamence now that mamoswine will be gone.
Defensively it can still be stopped with the ways that were presented before that still apply to it. But with the pokemon that forced it out offensively gone from the tier, offensive style of play seems helpless against it. One can argue that cloyster can be the ice sharder that forces salamence out but cloyster is not in a state in the current UU meta that can be a commonly used Pokemon.
I think we need to look into it a bit .

The discussion you are prompting me to is about salamence alone and if it is too much for the tier. I am trying to discuss UU as a whole. I just named salamence there as the most notable change in this month for the meta.
Though I can if you like, jump to this thread and give my opinion about salamence alone.

Preferred tiers: OU, UU
Fluff: I want to compete in both OU and UU in this psl. I ve been known as a UU player but I want to show that I can compete in different tiers.
Anyone who actually knows me and have played alongside me either in psl or the one world cup I have participated in, knows that I'm a committed person and a great teammate overall. I always provide the help I am able to and I am not afraid to play the high pressure games.
PSL is the tournament I haven't managed to win yet so it is the last thing that motivates me regarding this game

The way you have presented calcs for a number of Pokemons is not very representative and a little misleading. For example against Vaporeon you show a 252 special attack life orb draco damage and below that you show a 252 dragon claw damage. If people add these damages up without paying attention to your spreads, there might be confusion about the capabilities of salamence. because it for example cannot break through Vaporeon and Umbreon but the way the calcs are presented, they show that it can. Because both these Pokemons are checks for salamence in my view. Jellicent also has the ability to check salamence in a mixed attacker scenario.
That being said I'm gonna need more games using and coming up against to give my full thoughts on it

I don't believe that porygon2, especially at this moment of big changes, warrants any discussion.
The things that changed don't obstruct porygon into doing its job. Assault vest users might have an easier switch in but except Machamp none is able to force porygon2 out nor have the ability to really pressure it.
And the crippling factor for those is still a big thing. All the listed potential checks don't really check porygon2 except maybe Machamp again that due to guts, doesn't care much for the status that might occur.
Crawdaunt, salamence, toxicroak, poliwrath staraptor while able to maybe force it out do not check porygon2 in any way. So the argument is flawed to begin with. These Pokemons don't check it.
On the contrary, the existence of these pokemon allow porygon2 to become an even more versatile threat in the form of a physical defender because p2 also has the ability as listed above to check crawdaunt or feraligatr if equipped with a physical defensive kit.
So while circumstances and new additions might pressure porygon2 a bit and render it unable to act as a mixed wall with ease ( a thing that p2 was able to do), the problem that it oppresses offense by existence still remains. There still are very very limited switches to it.

To be honest I'm not so sure. It looks really overwhelming for sure but it seems to me that Staraptor pretty much suffers from the Darmanitan syndrome :
-Both are weak to rocks
-Both are very frail
-Both kill themselves when they hit
The priority moves calcs are especially relevant to me because as Staraptor is likely to easily lose health, it could be in range of most of these
The difference between the two in their respective tier and what is meta in those tiers is that brave bird is a way more spammable stab than flare blitz. Darmanitan isn't as overwhelming for OU because fire is resisted by the dominant dragons, gets absorbed by chandelure, resisted by waters and rocks. So in OU while darmanitan is very strong you can easily fit in checks for it both offensively or defensively. Staraptor gets checked by 2 mons in UU defensively and none offensively.
So in that tier you can easily spam it's stab and not factor the drawbacks nor need to predict correctly to get a decent hit off. Worst case scenario you ve done 30% damage to a bronzong for example.

It seems now inevitable that Salamence will drop given its current usage. Perhaps it could help against Crawdaunt? Bold mence switches on it nicely
If Salamence gets banned from UU, I would prefer Crawdaunt being banned too. Never has the tier been centralized that much around one mon until very recently. Porygon Z doesn't even seem close to me in terms of centralization.
I totally agree with the second part. I think crawdaunt is way more centralizing. About the first part you might be right but also could be wrong, because I also see the two mons complementing each other offensively so therefore one might make the other even more dangerous. Sadly we do have to test it out ourselves to be more sure about that. Personally I would discuss each pokemon separately but you raise a valid point to be honest. It's a difficult discussion and decision to take
