  1. Well it was never meant to be an official meta in the first place, so, there's that. As for "Unnecessary Restrictions" the Challenger has a wider team selection (Though we've talked about just limiting everyone to their original six) and their free access to OU pokemon is something that can and will trounce dual-type teams.Though we are leaning to 3 OU. He isn't limited to just 3 total pokemon, just 3 OU.
  2. This is a post mostly to get people's opinions on a Challenge Guild that I want to make for the exclusive purpose of having fun with a weird meta that doesn't need much work to get involved in. The Guild Requirements: Interest in having a Dual Type team. To put it simply, as a member of the guild, you have 2 types to use during challenges. You can use any pokemon on PokeMMO but you have to pick 2 types, and all of your pokemon must have one of those 2 types. Example: You pick Electric/Steel, you can run Eelektross, Magnezone, Skarmory, and Galvantula. They don't have to be exclusively these types, but all of them must have at least 1 of the 2 you choose. You are, of course, allowed to change your types on a whim, but the Challengers are to be notified accordingly. The Challenger Challengers are not limited to types, but are limited in excessive firepower. What I mean by this is that they are limited to 3 (or 2, we're still thinking here.) OU pokemon in any given group and can have as many as they want from any other tier. This specific clause for the challenger is there because let's be honest, any dualtype team vs 6 OU pokemon, if both trainers are equal in hoodspah, will result in the dual-type getting absolutely destroyed if the first thing goes wrong. The Challenge - You have to beat 4 members of the guild, mostly for fun and a decent reward for your efforts and troubles. To submit a challenge, you declare the members you want to fight and in which order via the discord that'll no doubt exist to discuss the challenger meta that would no doubt form from these shenanigans. The only applicable subjects would be the ones that are online and available in the "Waiting for Challenge" section or some other place where they're clearly active. - Each member has 9 pre-selected pokemon, but the first 6 on their list are the pokemon they always start with. The other 3 are their switch-ins. They are allowed to switch a pokemon out for every member that got beaten before them. On member number 4? He can switch out 3 pokemon in his original team with his 3 reserves to prevent outright diabolical scheming ahead of time. The challenger can switch out the same way, but only 1 pokemon at a time per member beaten. (He is permitted 10 total pokemon, but he cannot have more than 2-3 OU in his team at any given time.) You can check current team lists on the discord. (Discord does not exist yet.) - The Challenger would submit all 9 of his pokemon with his original 6 being the first 6. A proctor is present to spectate official challenges. If a pokemon is switched out at any point, the Proctor is told of the switch, both Challenger and Member lock in their decisions, and then the Proctor informs both of the changes. You then choose who you lead with, but you don't have to tell anyone that. - The Reward for successful challenges is up for debate, but it's probably a minimum of 50,000$ for beating all 4, 20,000 for beating 3, 10,000 for 2, and 5,000 for 1. Important Questions The only questions I really have for you guys are: - Do you think this would be fun? - Do you think this should be set to where pokemon are auto 100 or 50? (I'm not even sure if this is possible on this, honestly.) - Do you think the OU limit for the Challenger should be 2 or 3? (Definitely not 4 or more.) (Total sidenote, for the record, I wasn't at all sure where to put this. It's not recruitment, and it's not a suggestion, and it's not really an event, so... I guess just yeet it wherever is most appropriate. Sorry for the inconvenience.)
  3. I was very confused for a second there. Regardless, I didn't really want a Baton pass heavy team on such a uniformly slow team, anyway. The only speedy thing on the list is Aerodactyl, after all.
  4. Hi there, my name's Daeed! My goal on PokeMMO is to become a Monotype Rock Trainer, and eventually get other Monotype people to work with me in a challenge called "The Heavy Eight" but I'll get to that later after I've established myself and my team. I know I've got a loooot of work to do, but I wanted to get my team set up before I did any of that. So I'm going with Monotype Rock because It's what I've always went with, even on Pokemon Showdown. My main problem is that I'm unfamiliar with PokeMMO's meta, but I still wanna give this an honest shot and maybe make a name for myself. My team so far is: Probopass, who's primary job is to check specific spikers/stealth rockers, particularly steel types. It's a guaranteed win against Ferrothorn, Forretress, and Skarmory, and is probably the pokemon I'm most proud of, since it has Thunderbolt, HP: Fire, Taunt, and Explosion. It's job is pretty simple. Other pokemon I know I'll be including are Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, and Cradily, but I'm very torn on what the other 2 will be. I've heavily considered grabbing Lunatone because they can learn Trick Room, which would beautifully setup for Aggron and its Head Smash. But that locks in Lunatone to Hypnosis, Trick Room, and Baton Pass, leaving it only 1 other move, perhaps, which might end up being Psychic. I'm not even sure where to begin asking for help with this.
  5. Well, the thing is is this isn't a "Suggestion." Rather, this would be player-ran and essentially be a sponsored unofficial event that's somewhat consistent. I wouldn't dare leave these in the hands of something as blasphemously stupid as Pokemon's AI. In other news, I will be updating the top post with the following segment. Team Creation Some types, unfortunately, are not capable of dealing with practically any non-monotype team, such as Ice. To explain this, I'll give you some numbers. These pokemon teams require 10 pokemon total, by the end. This is especially daunting to those that would use, say, Ice, or other types with a small number to them. Ice, for example, has only 9 total pokemon going for it. Cloyster, Delibird, Dewgong, Glalie, Jynx, Lapras, Piloswine, Sneasel, and Walrein. It would be 11, but to my knowledge Regice and Articuon don't exist, or rather, aren't playable here. Even so, picking a 10 pokemon team out of 11 pokemon is... well... goodbye Glalie, right? As a result, certain typings, AKA: Ice, Dragon, Ghost, Steel and Dark, are allowed to draw from other, specific types to offset such a miniscule pool to choose from. (This doesn't apply to a Gen 4 version of the heavy 8, however. Not that that matters, but we can plan for the future can't we?) Generally a Heavy 8 member is expected to understand and deal with their most prominent, and expected OU threats, such as all-rock dealing with Metagross. To summarize all of this, some members of the Heavy Eight will be dual-typed, but they must have *exactly* 6 of one type and 4 of the other.
  6. I was not sure where to put this, so I put it here. Apologies if it is in a mistaken place. Everyone here has dealt with the elite 4 a number of excruciating times. We've all been there, ran them, fought them, and basically ruined them with only a Gengar and a Gyarados. When we're not dealing with that, we have a number of other options for the other Elite 4. Well, that's where we got the idea for the Heavy Eight. The Heavy Eight are a collection of 8 different Monotype trainers, whom hopefully can put up a challenge to anyone that wants to. We're no fools, however, and the idea of any Monotype team defeating a standard OU team is right out of the question. That said, the challenge isn't going to restrict players to battling on our level, rather, it aims to make them still have to work for it. Each Trainer in the Heavy 8 is Alotted 10 pokemon that they are blatantly not allowed to ever steer from. They will not be listed here, however, as we hope that people enjoy the challenge enough to thoroughly study it, figure it out, and work hard for the reward. Whatever that is. With that, I'm going to stop talking your ear off and do what I can to explain what the restrictions are for both the Challengers and the Heavy Eight. The Challenger The Challenger is not restricted to a monotype team, and his Pokemon may have any any type combination he wishes. The Challenger is restricted to a Maximum of 2 OU Pokemon. Ubers are strictly banned. The Challenger may switch out 1 of his pokemon per defeated Heavy Eight member. The Challenger may register his 10 pokemon with a Representative, whom is to spectate the battle and ensure only registered pokemon are in use. The Challenger may learn of the Heavy Eight's pokemon beforehand, and plan ahead accordingly. The Challenger may pick whichever Heavy Eight member he wishes to fight first, second, third, fourth, and fifth. He must declare this beforehand, and can't change it. The Heavy Eight The Heavy Eight member must use the same pokemon they registered upon joining the group, and must not deviate from these. The Heavy Eight member may switch out 1 of his pokemon per defeated Heavy Eight Member. (Their starting pokemon are always the same.) The Heavy Eight member is restricted to a Maximum of 2 OU pokemon. Ubers are strictly banned. The Heavy Eight members are not allowed to know The Challenger's lineup before the first member is challenged. The Heavy Eight members are not allowed to know The Challenger's 4 reserve Pokemon unless they are used. Prizes are rewarded to a challenger who defeat 5 of the Heavy 8 in a row. Prizes will range from well-bred pokemon to large sums of PokeDollars, or rare items. Upon being defeated, the Heavy Eight may declare a stop to challenges, but only if the rewards they have are not suitable. The Longer the Heavy Eight goes undefeated (Despite constant challenges) the better the prize will be. It Costs ______ to partake in the Heavy Eight Challenge. This payment will be funneled back into the Prize Pool. The Minimum Prize for defeating the Heavy Eight is double the cost to challenge them. The Reward Pool will always be given before accepting the Challenge. Team Creation Some types, unfortunately, are not capable of dealing with practically any non-monotype team, such as Ice.
