Rules: All tournament matches that are part of the 2016 Video Game Championships season are played using the same rules, but the format of each tournament varies. Most tournaments have two distinct phases. At first, players are matched using the Swiss matchmaking system. In each round, all players are paired with a player who has a similar record. Afterwards, only the best players advance to the next knockout, or "top ranked," round, and the winner of that group becomes the champion.
