  1. Title says it all, I think it would be nice to have a little cup option in match making. *edit* I did do a search for this suggestion before posting, and I failed to find one, so I'm sorry if it was already suggested

How does a Leppa berry play into that?

can't seem to find any post in the guide section that has shiny in the title. Not looking forward to manually searching all topics in the section

the berry hunting/shiny combination seems interesting, is there a guide on here for that? I got a skeleton costume from the Halloween event (if that is what you're talking about).

I understand that. I have simply listed a variety of options, but by no means all. On a plus side, this conversation has allowed me to look past my initial upset, and see further into the current system. And in all honesty, after I do my in depth offline look into a plausible breeding system, I may find there is no good way to implement a truer breeding system into this economy. But if I am able to find one, one that works, it'd be awesome to know it's possible. The ideas I threw out in this discussion are on the spot, non-thought out drawing board panels. I am going to look into a solid system though, puzzles are fun. As for this topic, I do believe I actually may have found a post game activity, and I thank you all for your criticism and insight. *edit* not sure how effectively it would ruin the shiny system, as most of these ideas would limit how often you breed to less than the current system thus producing less shiny eggs time wise. I mean , if someone just went out there and caught pokemon after pokemon and bred them as often as possible, the shiny occurrence would be far greater in the current system than any of the ideas I suggested... not only would you have the chance to produce one when "breeding" but you also run into the likelihood of catching a wild one. so if I want to breed 5 pokemon I would have 15 shiny opportunities in a short amount of time as opposed 7 in far greater amount of time. unless they altered the game to where shiny is strictly bred and no longer found in the wild, in which case it would be 5 opportunities both ways, but could be attempted more often in the current system. Again though, I do actually plan to look into this completely while drawing up my own theoretical system.

I don't know what pokemon sink is. but it isn't an actual system, it is just a variety of ways to implement a system. For fun I'm going to see if I can create an actual system utilizing some of these ideas, but apparently, I must look into this sink you speak of. I am going to explore this current system, who knows, I may grow to like it after tinkering, it just sucks as a someone who enjoys the breeding aspect of the games. *edit* I was writing up my plan of attack to get a 6x31 fairly quick with current system and realised the pokemon sink you mentioned is this games version of an item sink or gold sink. I did mention that the current system could still be used.

you can't spam eggs with my system, and even then, if you breed once per cycle, you could have an inflation rate, for instance, breeding 1 cost 20k, breeding next cycle cost 40k, skipping the 40k, would cost 30k, skipping the 30k would bring it back to 20k and if you bred at 40k and then decided to breed next cycle too it would cost 80k. by this method, if you were to breed one pair per week (lets say cycles are week long) if you 4 weeks in a row, it would cost you 300k for 4 eggs. you wouldn't be able to spam either, if you have it so there are for example 15 cycles, you could only breed each pokemon roughly once every three months. there are much less extreme methods than the ones used. I understand how economics work, the easiest way would be implementing a cost system, hell, the could charge to breed pokemon based on their IVs. if a pokemon is 6x31, it would cost much more than a pokemon who is average. obviously you'd have to apply a similar inflation to breed multiple times in the same cycle. each time effectively increasing the cost x% where you would have to take full breaks for x amount of cycles to get your cost back down. you could also have it so that it takes a pair x days to produce an egg based on the pair used. for instance, if you go ditto route, it could take the entire cycle, if you go same species, could take a single day, favorable species, 2-3 days and unfavorable but breedable even more. if the game were to get overpopulated by pokemon, you could run an algorithm that would purchase certain pokemon in the GTL that are $x or less automatically. this would remove them effectively from existance. you could implement certain deals if you have x amount of this pokemon, trade it in for x item. I know none of this will happen, but its painful as programmer to see such a fun and great idea get spoiled in such a way. in this system, it would not only be expensive to be a breeder, but could also lend itself to making breeding somewhat professional. and hell, if you don't want to spend the crazy money trying to get your pvp, they could still keep the trade the parents for a guaranteed baby. This wasn't intended to be a breeding discussion, but I am seriously saddened by the lack of post game options. I will try to find a way to make this new system work, actually I thik I may just have figured out how to get a 6x31 pokemon in less time than my method would take! I shall test this theory, if it works, I'll even make a guide on it. YAY, found a fun new purpose. still though, they need to find away to implement real breeding *edit* I did just found a flaw in my system, once you have a dedicated 6x31 breeding pair, you could breed more 6x31 until you could breed up to 7 a cycle, which if going on the 15 cycle example earlier would be roughly 1 every 4 days. and if they kept the current system, you could use it until you got your initial breeding pair. albeit, if they removed the current system, it could take years to get a solid 6x31 breeding pair, which would definitely make them worth money, but could also be a bit extreme. then again, you could limit the amount of times a pokemon can breed period, even though it won't ever happen, I think I am going to also delve fully into a plausible, non economy breaking breeding system, that players who enjoy breeding could use. I know, I know, it won't happen, but half the fun of games like this is coming up with ideas to improve it and make it well rounded for a variety of different play styles.

I get their point, I just like breeding for breeding I have no interest in PvP. I do use thief, but anytime I get a crit hit, I gain xp and one shot them. catching them would be such a headache. @Sleydge I understand how breeding works in here, but it ISN'T breeding. It is called breeding, but for someone who enjoys actual breeding, it is worthless. I'm not going to sacrifice my pokemon I've put so much effort into to start from scratch, I'd rather have my crap stat starter and ok stat bred version than lose my starter and have a super version.

breeding is using two pokemon to get eggs multiple times. the new system you literally trade two pokemon for one, that is not breeding. if you could get more than one egg, it would be a little more worth it to me. like say 80% 1 egg, 15% 2 eggs and 5% for 3. I think it would make more sense to limit how often a pokemon can breed as opposed to just taking it once you breed it though. I mean, if you limit it so that a pokemon must rest for x amount of days based on species, that would still allow players to breed their pokemon. They devs could also implement a price tag on breeding, this coupled with the cool down would be prime. You could also set a level limit and age limit. Lets say Venusaur breeds with ditto. You get one bulbusaur. Your venusaur must now wait 8 days before breeding again, but the bulbasaur must be leveled to 30 and still has a cool down of 12 days after hatching. This would mean you have to put in the effort of leveling your baby, but also waiting a certain amount of time. the numbers used were just examples, but I still think it is a sound way to limit breeding. maybe even limit it so that happiness effects ability to breed, so you can't just breed a traded pokemon right away or one just recently caught in the wild. Breeding was my favorite part of pokemon, hell I breed ball bython morphs in real life. You could even go another step further and implement seasons. certain species and/or egg groups are only breedable during specific cycles. This could also be used to in lieu of cool down. for instance, you can only breed a pokemon once per cycle. Babies may have to wait 2 or more cycles before they are able to breed. I think their method of limitation is overkill and really only applies to players trying to build up their own PvP team. *edit* I personally am not the biggest fan of pure PvP, I suck at it.

Is there anything to do post game anymore? I use to love breeding and was working on Eeveelutions when I took I hiatus. I came back to find that I can't breed anymore, I can exchange 2 pokemon for a bloody egg, WTAF!?!? I use to farm mushrooms, but apparently that is near impossible because accidentally killing them grants my low level xp and you don't get them if you one shot them. Trick doesn't seem to keep the stolen item. Seriously, what is there to do post game now? is the only thing to do just pvp???
