  1. Bump What about fast forward for tournament once they're completely over? Or past a certain date (ex: 7 days after the tournament is over)? I would like to spectate some matches but they're so, so terribly slow
  2. Any advices on breeding a Rotom-W ? Is it most often used as defog-user or just some kind of bulky pivot ? Do you have any idea what the preferred spread would be ? I don't really understand what makes it strong besides it's typing+levitate but I'd like to give it a try and see by myself what it is capable of
  3. You need to breed the female larvitar with a male treecko that learns pursuit naturally by leveling (they're the same egg group and the baby will be a larvitar with pursuit) I would advise you to breed tyranitar to at least 5x31 since the iv you left untouched (sp.def) is particularly important for a pursuiter like tyra
  4. I don't think this work, I tried using it on Breloom because I thought that he has technician: he doesn't I ended up losing 70k (yes TWICE because I'm pooped) since he only has 1 ability and it consumed the pill anyway Any chance of getting my money back?
  5. Alright so I should keep in mind whe breeding that things such as Dnite/Mence, wobbuffet, dugtrio, blissey and tyranitar may not be in OU forever right ? corrrect me if I missed any other "contested" pokemon
  6. I've taken a look at OU viability and usage statistics etc since I came back after a long while, and I'm trying to compute everything that has changed.. One thing is bothering me though, how are Dugtrio and (even more so) Wobbuffet not banned ? I've never been a fan of outright banning everything thats big in the meta (see blissey or snorlax), but aren't those two just annoying-no-counterplay gimmicks ? Also, another unrelated question: why is Salamence so rarely used ? Why is Dnite used over Salamence ? Surely intimidate + better speed makes up for a bit of lost bulk?
  7. Ok nvm I hadn't been to Unova, and it's actually quite populated But as you guys said, when it comes to pvp it seems that the game has taken quite a hit yeah Thanks for answers
  8. Hi everyone, I came around to see how the game has changed over the last year ( I think last time I played was around 2016 christmas), since apparently there's a new region etc. Problem is that the game seems deserted, what happened ? Where do people hangout, why is /channel so empty ? Even the pvp ladder seems abandoned
  9. I don't use Chansey but clearly, some sp atkers can ruin my day if I don't predict right (they will depend on the team but I can't cover everything anyway)
  10. I think the problem of the Chansey usage rate is not something that directly comes from the pokemon itself but from the overall metagame of Pokemmo. If you ban her (and yes I absolutly loathe Chansey), the result will simply be a shift to Porygon2 with support from a few handful resists/immunities. So many chanseys don't even have spdef invest nowadays so there's little difference.. In my opinon, the fact that most of the biggest physical threats are (rightfully) banned means that the risk of losing momentum associated with switching on Chansey is lower. What would you do against Chansey? The number of decent answers is limited in my opinion (assuming you're playing a "standard" team), and they are also very easily shut down Physical sweepers? just fall back on Weezing/Milo/Arca Guts users ? Potential kill but most often easily RK since they end up crippled Spikers ? you get to para them which isn't that bad + they bring quite low pressure on their own, allowing you to take back the lost momentum What pokemon can truly take advantage of Chansey then ? Metagross and Venu (2nd and 3rd) to which there's no true "safe" switch among the common OU pokemons. The big 3 banned threats (Dnite Salamence Tyra) have in common with Venu/Metagross that they don't have any truly reliable pokemon you can switch on to "sponge" them, and I think that the lack of pokemons of this kind is the reason this meta doesn't se much diversity from a stalling point of view. (please note: I'm not advocating for the return of Salamence Dnite and Tyra, the cons would vastly overweight the pros) In conclusion I think Chansey is indeed unhealthy for OU because she limits teambuildding, but I'm not sure if she should be banned for it tl;dr: standard offense is low, makes it difficult to punish conventional stall cores even when playing ahead -> encourages players to abuse conventional stall cores I'm just trying to give my interpretation of the issue, as for an answer... I haven't thought that far
  11. Use a RS resist like metagross or swampert, though I agree it's really dumb & full of hax
  12. Porygon2 for A: this thing is as good as most of the A-list if not even better in my opinion, and it also doesn't require much support to fit into a team! Ok maybe you'll need to pair it with a few resists/immunites cause it's not as tanky as Chansey, but if you look at the top of OU lists, you'll see plenty of complementary pokemons which makes Porygon2 a pokemon that is really easy to incorporate into your team! Another reason I think it's A is its versatility: The spdef classic set is good and can use several different coverage moves, the more offensive SpAtk set can be really annoying to switch into with STAB tri-attack (and its BS status) or icebeam to ruin Venusaur's day, and finally the return set can really threaten Chansey (or you could even trick her). Overall Porygon2 has enough different working sets to make it more fearsome than a lot of A tier pokemon imo Kingdra for B+: Maybe even for A ? I'm not sure, but I'm sure it's more than B material for me. It's a pretty easy to read pokemon (once you've guessed if its DD or rain), but that doesn't really matter imo, as I feel it deserves at least B+ for the DD set alone. One of the best typing in the game capable of switching on any fire/water move, CC absorption via Rest, and only a handful of pokemon able to completely shut it down (Gyara, Milo, Slowbro, Vap... easy teambuild...). Thanks to rest it nearly never ends up losing much when walled -> easy switch in, easy switch-out. I do acknowledge that unlike Porygon, Kingdra requires support to shine so that why I proposed B+ not A Houndoom for B/B+ : Best user of pursuit + excellent double immunity + a whole range of very different sets that can make it a real pain in the ass for the enemy, but also very frail and 95 base speed + easy switch in for enemy Blazikens
  13. Nowhere did I write I couldn't handle Chansey or that Snorlax was easier to deal with than Chansey, just like you I believe she's the easier one to play against. My problem with Chansey is that she's (like most tanks here) terribly one dimensional and entirely focused on her sponge role with just enough added value (twave/toxik) to not make her an integral switchbot (switch in, abosrb damage, switch out). As a player that likes somewhat offensive teams I absolutely loathe these kind of walls, their interactivity is minimal and they bring 0 fun. Pokemon has a bunch of actually fun and engaging walls that can run all sort of surprising things, come in hundreds of different EV spread etc. Think of things like Gyara (ok this one is half sweeper), Skarmory, Tyranitar, Swampert, Venu.. those are all pokemons which allow a lot of creativity and they're in my opinion fun pokemon I like to face. Snorlax, balancing issues aside, is also one of them. In my opinion it's a shame that it got banned that quick before we could actually see what players truly could come up with against an actual threatening proactive tank.
  14. For me trick is a primary method to cripple the receiving end of your sweep, it's not like trick is wasted if the oppnent happens to NOT have Snorlax As for Snorlax I didn't think you were talking about this kind of vey-bulky-curse-Snorlax, as most of the Snorlax used at the end of pre-ban era were not really curse-focused but rather more wallbreaking/RKing focused (such as CB pursuit Lax or any lax with noticeable attack investment + versatile moveset) Classic Curselax always seemed like an easily abusable pokemon to me. Losing your haze Milo to a Curselax requires enough bad rng that you might aswell have been disconnected because of internet failure... sry Then again I'm not going to re-do the whole match but -Venusaur getting a knock off/leech seed/slep powder off of Snorlax is more likely than not (reminder that being paralyzed before having used one of those is 25%chance x 30%chance = 7,5% chance considering you lost a turn to switch Venu in) -Forre can rapid spin/spike freely if Snorlax doesn't have Fblast (and if he does, he probably doesn't have Curse) -Haunter can hard pressure Snorlaxes that aren't full-on tank, and if they're full-on tank it can temporize until Snorlax Rests, allowing to you easily switch-out to (p)haze/set up a threat, alternatively, w-o-w can force the rest easily, and taunt can ruin some Snorlax. I'm not writing more about this guy but be creative, it's a little Gengar and its rising OU usage is deserved All of those answers are solid pokemon on their own which happen to provide you with a lot of utility off Snorlax and that, if used with good timing can really help you out in the long run Bulky Machamp is, iirc the standard set, all you have to do here is to remove a little bit of HP and put it in def and you're good to go Bulky Heracross is a legit spread imo, people often forget its amazing Sdef and alright base HP, going full glasscannon to reach around 150 isn't that good when any check/counter/RKer is either much faster or much slower anyway And the best way to use a focuspunch is on the switch (manmode!!) Just a different vision of the game I guess, but I know I'd rather face Snorlax than the boreblob anyday
  15. I meant a liabiltity for the Lax user, Lax becoming a burden, sorry if I may have poorely chosen my words. In my opinion, when virtually everyone was aware of the prevalence of Snorlax in the meta as top threat, the meta shifted to adjust to this situation enough that running Snorlax wasn't beneficial anymore. What's the point of running Curselax when the enemy definitely have a reliable p(hazer)? Will a para on the enemy Venu really benefit you when it's a full tank knock-off with enough bulk to ignore your bslams? Is fireblast really that useful when nobody will send their Forretress without having previously checked your moves ? Do you really need a bulky spdef wall when the meta packs more and more physical threats and less and less special threats? In the end the pros and cons of running lax were equivalent imo, and it would have stayed that way without a ban. That's why in my opinion the statement "running lax is easymode" is not exactly true, and that in my opinion only the criticism that it was overcentralizing makes sense. Milo and Dusclops still are basically big sponges that stall threats with little to no proactivity, and there is a much bigger offender for that crime: a certain pink blob. To be honest I'm not exactly the best theory crafter, but I believe more offensive Snorlax answers have not been experimented enough before it was banned. Things like bulky Heracross/Machamp, disable Haunter, unconventionnal trick users or mixed FocusPunch pokemons are a lot of answers I feel didn't get their chance to shine Rhydon's actually decent as a CB with the comeback of Skarm/Forre/Metagross/Aero
  16. In my opinion the meta had evolved (before the Snorlax ban) to a point where having Snorlax on your team was not an an advantage anymore (and in some case, it could even be a liability). I like spectating tourneys and there were more and more Laxless teams standing out, especially in higher quarters from my observations. You could argue Snorlax was centralizing yes, but saying Snorlax = advantage isn't exactly true Also, many of the Snorlax checks turned out to be more than gimmicks in the end. My Gdv Dusclops or my Milo still feel perfectly relevant when I use them these days
  17. But the last tournament of the Snorlax era had Chanseys in final, not Snorlax iirc Anyway, I'm still not really feeling this meta, I'll just wait and see
  18. Many good players (in regular duels and in tourneys) still use Chansey regularly and with success, so I don't really understand the "skill" comment.. Last 2 OU tournament finals had a Chansey, Walpayer, who I was told a few pages ago is pretty good, uses a Chansey quite often etc
  19. Thank you very much for the info on seismic toss/chansey matchup Yes it is a wish Jolteon with Wish/HP Ice/Tbolt growth (soon) because I already have a max speed Jolteon So I wanted something different I'm not trying to speed tie Aeros because I'm not fond of speed ties + I have a reliable check for it, Same for Kazam/Espeons, I already have a few answers ready for them. But since I actually need to invest less EV in HP than I thought, I have a bit more to spend so I'l probably aim for a higher speed cap, thank you
  20. Hello, I'm currently trying to breed a somewhat bulky Jolteon, to improve its survivabilty vs Chansey and to put its great spdef to use Do you know what EV spread would work? So far I came up with: TIMID => 232HP / 252 SPATK / 20 SPEED + 4 wherever (HP IV is 30, which is why I dont go 236) 20 speed gives me 168, enough to outspeed speed nature base 100 My problem is according to damage calculator seismic toss is a 4hKO with this spread, and that with a little more HP investment it becomes a 5HKO Is this really a case scenario I should prepare for ? Do you think there are other threats I should prioritize?
  21. And I would add that if you were to farm everstone at a normal rate for approximately the same money as 31 farming, you should expect a price of 15K/everstone, not 20k as said above 20-25k is/was only because gym re-battling is/was prioritized over everstone farming so much that the offer/demand ratio got moved down. Do you know any other "common" item people would be willing to pay 33% (at best!) too much for ? None because no other item has such a terrible farm system
