Sooooo guys, I'm going to be honest here and say that I feel that I'm not as involved in PokeMMO as some of you might want me to be as the leader of this team. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to be on every day and be as good of a leader as I'd like. That being the case, I'd like to keep RealCascadia up and running, because I really like the brotherhood we've built and the community that we're a part of. I just want you all to know that we're kind of destined to be a small team, which isn't a problem for me, but if it is a problem for some of you, I'd totally understand. I'd love for you all to stay with us and would even be open to giving up my leader role to someone who you guys think would be more fit to run our team. I'm not saying that I'm quitting or anything like that, and I'd definitely like to stay the leader and will still organize stuff and post stuff on the forums and be all leader-like. I just wanted you guys to know that my level of involvement might not be as high as some of you may have hoped.

So, this tournament on sunday is still gonna happen, right guys? I've got my team ready, do you?

RealCascadia Friendly 3v3 Tournament Sunday December 9, 2012 7pm PST, Cinnabar Island Channel 5 This will be our first attempt at having a Team Tourney and I'm hoping it'll go smoothly. As we expand, I'd like you all to consider the following: -In the future I am considering having a competitive lv 50 3v3 team be a requirement for officer status, this would allow us to have tournaments on a decently regular basis. -I would like to expand without just blatantly advertising on global. Instead, I would prefer that we look to our friends lists and to friendly people that we meet while playing. Just get to know the players you add to the team before inviting them, that way we can stay a closely knit brotherhood and a friendly community for all members, instead of being another team that grew too fast for its own good. -Please, take the time to introduce new members to everyone that's on at the time and get them involved in the team chat right away. This way they feel welcome and are more willing to stay and contribute to our community. -While we aren't a competitive dueling based team, I'd still like to have some sort of competitive nature about us. For that reason, try not to recruit players that don't know what they're doing. Yes, we want to be a helpful, friendly community... But we also don't want to be a team full of inexperienced players that hardly ever play or don't know how to play PokeMMO. I want RealCascadia to be a force to be reckoned with, while still providing a positive atmosphere for all members. So that's another reason to really get to know new recruits before adding them. Individual Values (IV) Basics (Abbreviated from Serebii.net and Psypokes.com) Individual Values have the most influence on any stat of any pokemon. It's what makes every single pokemon unique and have different stats. The difference between Effort Values and IVs is that Effort Values change over time (by battling and with certain items), whereas IVs will never change. When you encounter a wild Pokemon in battle, the game assigns a number from 0 to 31 to each of its stats (HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack and Special Defense) and this number, from now on, will not change. IVs of 31 yield higher stats, while IVs of 0 yield lower stats. Since IVs are given to a pokemon upon meeting, the best thing you can do is just receive a pokemon with high IV's. Catching pokemon a large amount of the same species of pokemon is an okay way, but you'll need a large stock of pokeballs and catching pokemon from the wild usually results with average/lower than average IVs. There really isn't much you can do to get good IVs except for persistent effort to get good IVs, just make sure you have the patience for it. EV Training Basics (Abbreviated from Serebii.net) How do EVs affect stats? For every 4 EVs you gain in a specific stat, you'll gain +1 to your Pokemon's base value in that stat. What this basically means is that if you battle 4 Patrat with your Tepig, Tepig will then gain +1 to its attack stat (because each Patrat gives +1 EV in the attack stat). EVs are calculated at +1 Stat point per 4 EVs at level 100, which means you won't see the full benefit of the EVs you put into your Pokémon until it reaches that level; there will still be a benefit, just not as significant as when it reaches the maximum level. Is there a limit to the amount of EVs I can give my Pokémon? Unfortunately (or perhaps, fortunately) there are two limits to the amount of EVs a Pokémon can gain. Each Pokemon can have a maximum of 510 EVs. One stat can have a maximum of 255 EVs. This equates to +63 to the affected stat of a Pokémon (at level 100), if you maxed out EVs in that stat. So if we take Tepig and then battle 255 Patrat, we'd be giving it +255 EVs in Attack, then Tepig will gain a +63 increase to its current attack stat. The more mathematically minded of you may be noticing that this doesn't actually add up. The number 4 doesn't go into 255, so 3 of the EV points have gone to waste. You'd be exactly right. The optimum number of EVs to put into any stat is therefore 252. The best way to show you the benefits is an example, which I'll take from my own Volcarona. One has been fully EV trained. The other has not been EV trained in any particular way, as I used it in my party for my main play through of the game. See if you can guess which one is which. Volcarona #1 Volcarona #2 Level 60 74 HP 182 240 Attack 72 122 Defence 87 120 Sp. Attack 209 233 Sp. Defence 134 157 Speed 194 205 Speeding up the process. Lets look at our Tepig again. If we want to give 252 Attack EVs to Tepig you might be thinking that having to battle 252 Patrat is going to be a bit dull. The good news is that there are a large amount of ways we can speed up the entire process. If you head to the Department store on Route 9 in Black & White, and then proceed to the top left corner of the uppermost floor, you'll find a merchant selling a variety of different vitamins for $9,800 each. They all say they “increase the base stat” of one specific statistic on a Pokémon. Their effects are outlined here. This is done through using the following Berries. Best Places to Train EVs HP: Caterpie- Veridian Forest, have to sift through Metapod, Kakuna, Pikachu and Weedle Attack: Paras- Basement Floor 1 Mount Moon, 100% chance Defense: Tangela- Grass patch below Palett Town, 100% chance Special Attack: Gastly and Haunter- Pokemon Tower, have to sift through occasional Marowak Special Defense: Tentacool- Route 21, 100% chance Speed: Magikarp- use old rod in any water, 100% chance Diglett and Dugtrio- Diglett’s Cave

RealCascadia Manifesto RealCascadia is a brotherhood based out of the beautiful Pacific Northwest hamlet of Seattle. Or, atleast that's where I'm from. We welcome any players who are looking for a positive, friendly environment... We are a bright spot in what can be a harsh PokeMMO community. To be a member of RealCascadia, all that we require is that you play regularly and know what you're doing. My point in creating RealCascadia is to build a community of players helping players. We are small in numbers right now, but the ultimate goal is to have a sizable clan of friends, united under the idea of helping out other players. In the future, I would like to have tournaments and an active, engaging community where everyone feels welcome and knows that they can turn to other members with any questions they might have. It is the perfect place to live and visit and I am truly proud to be a citizen of such a wonderful city. Because of this I chose to name my team after it.
