  1. ^ Read that You cannot 100% without a doubt prove anybody "stole" your research. Pumpking has existed for several years. The typing has not changed since it was first introduced. This means that way back in the day someone could have already found an effective strategy and adapted it to the changes over time.
  2. Once upon a time they weren't.
  3. Beating Pumpking isn't a race. You don't gain anything other than bragging rights for beating him first, and quite frankly it's extremely likely you weren't the first to do it. It's just as likely that the strategy you took time to research was one someone else already knew would work and shared with someone else. Word of mouth is something that simply cannot be stopped. Even if they were to overhaul the event so that it became an instanced dungeon, you won't be able to stop someone else from sharing a strategy. Just the simple act of you sharing your strategy with someone almost guarantees that it will be shared with someone else later. There's nothing you can do about that. In fact, in order for someone to fully replicate your strategy they would need their team to be on par with the team you used. This means moves, natures, abilities, held items, and equivalent EV/IV spread. The only part of that list you can 100% guarantee came from the strategy you used is the moves and just having that one piece does not make for automatic success. As far as monetary investment is concerned. Can you 100% guarantee that each person who you claim to have used your strategy didn't spend anything to ensure they can replicate it? Absolutely not. There is no possible way for you as a player to verify that each person who you claim to have used your strategy didn't have to spend some money and/or time putting it together for themselves. This is the simple fact of life. Very few players are going to have your exact team just sitting in their PC box. If you used a comp team then you should already know that comp players are a minority of players in game, which places the odds of someone just having your team in their PC by happenstance even lower. In the end it balances out.
  4. Don't get too hung up on the exchange numbers because those can be changed. The reason why 5 Goodie Bags for 1 Special Candy came to mind is because you get that for beating the boss on Normal. The actual exchange rate can be changed. The other idea is to have a means of converting Special Candy into Spooky Candy once the event ends. In either case, the exchange rate needs to be balanced in such a manner that fighting the boss is still encouraged, but that you do still get something for those Special Candy you have sitting in your bag once Pumpking is to tired to fight. It is possible to have both methods. The overall point is to give Special Candy a use once the event actually ends because the only reason it went for 250k on the GTL was because of the mindset that rare = valuable. The unfortunate reality is that the secondary use is an RNG based healing item which places the real value below that of a regular Potion. In an absolute pinch with no alternatives it's great no matter what, but under normal circumstances you risk wasting a 250k item for 20HP. Aside from a perceived boon for cash, is there any real reason to hold onto stacks of Special Candy? Realistically, no there is not; they are made to be used, but nobody is going to willingly use these to heal unless they have absolutely no other options. So why wouldn't you want there to be some use for them after the event ends that sees some kind of reward for turning them in?
  5. Ok, exactly how does it defeat the objective to have that functionality AFTER the event ends and the Pumpking can no longer be challenged? During the event the Special Candies can be treated exactly how they would normally be treated by triggering the battle. It should be noted that players who have already beaten Pumpking on Normal Mode are really standing to take a loss on that exchange because the Hard Mode reward is an upgraded Goodie Bag. So then it comes down to wasting your special candies on the Pumpking to try and get the Hard Mode reward or hold them and get a bunch of regular goodie bags at the end. This has nothing to do with the normal flow of the event itself, but more to do with allowing the players to have another use for them after the Pumpking is done battling. That said, at worst it's a healing item if you are in a pinch and need to heal some HP. Though this isn't much of a concern for players sitting on millions already because they are likely to have already stocked up on their healing items. That's more for average players who don't bank up a ton of cash.
  6. I didn't bother counting tbh. I was playing to enjoy the event more, not really make money tbh. Besides, I caught some decent breeding fodder to rebreed my Gengar from 2013 and also to start a Spiritomb breed so even if I took a loss on Goodie Bags, I could potentially sell of the breeding fodder that I won't need and bring the loss down more.
  7. That was my debate. Sell them for a quick 40k-50k or open them and maybe get something work 200k+. I ended up opening them, but hey, two Pharoah Suits so wasn't an entire loss. My haul was: Rare Candy Super Vitamins Event Cookies Lava Cookies Pointed Hat Teddy Ears Pharoah Suit
  8. You should find a staff member in game to help with that process. If you go through a regular player I'd advise you to record the process. If they run off with your Pokemon then you should file a report.
  9. <sarcasm>You caught me. I admit it. I bought one on the GTL</sarcasm>
  10. You have to trade with another player by sending a trade request to them.

    Region Chat

Honestly, I like this idea a lot. Instead of having a channel based chat, just do a regional chat instead. This would allow for coordination of region based events, such as Halloween, among all channels without creating chaos in the global channel.
  12. Honestly should have been fully quantified in the changelog. Just saying candies without qualifying which one is a bit confusing. That said, they could have also set it up such that Pumpking will accept Special Candies for normal Goodie Bags at a rate of 1 Special = 5 Goodie Bag since that is what you get for beating him on Normal anyway.
  13. Because it doesn't make sense within the world to have that since Giovanni disappeared after you beat him. How do you explain him suddenly coming back canonically since the Gen 2 games have him holed up in a cave in Johto refusing to return to Team Rocket despite them pleading for his return over the radio. If, and this is a big if, IF the devs were to add the Johto storyline this kind of rematch would clash with the setup of Johto since Blue takes over after Giovanni retires. Though the argument can also be made that it would clash anyway since Giovanni is the leader in FireRed, but Blue is the leader in HG/SS. You'd be correct that they would. This would be an instance where it may be sensible to lock Johto away as accessible until after the player has beaten Giovanni as the Viridian gym leader since HG/SS canonically takes place after the events of FR/LG, but that is a discussion for a different time.
  14. Timer for the event to end. Once it fills up you won't be able to get candies from trick or treaters anymore and you will only be able to exchange the ones you have for goodie bags.
  15. What you posted isn't entirely true. Staff won't say one way or the other, nor will they actually tell you how to avoid being banned aside from the standards of, "Don't bot, don't RMT, don't scam, etc." If they were to come in here and explicitly answer this question then someone could use it to try and skirt the rules. Simply put, there is no hard and fast way to know whether or not you will be banned for accepting items from someone who has broken ToS.
  16. Forum accounts are not linked to game accounts.
  17. I don't recall that ever being a thing in game. It definitely was not a mod and I 100% don't recall being able to see the encounters for an area in the HUD.
  18. I've said this a million times in game already. Unless you need quick cash in game to get more supplies to fight Pumpking, hold the bags until /after/ the event ends. Give it time for the supply of bags that are out there now to dwindle /before/ you start listing them or you are pretty much shorting yourself. Trust me, anything exclusive to this year will go back up in price later, but while there are a ton in circulation the prices will remain lower. Large supply with no demand begets low prices. Low supply with high demand begets premium prices. Low/High supply with normal demand begets prices in between low and premium. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
  19. Some Pokemon had some aspects removed that, when combined with other aspects, pushed them into Uber territory. An example being Gengar losing access to the Levitate ability and having all instances of that ability replaced with Cursed Body instead. The current philosophy of the devs is to not have anything locked out of PvP that can be altered slightly to make it so that it will not be considered Uber. Nasty Plot was one such alteration to Hydreigon's available moves. It's not that they didn't take notice, it's that it was entirely intentional. Whether their methods of preventing the need of a large scale Uber tier is the best way to go about it or if they should just revert the changes and have an Uber tier is debatable though. Note: Legends have a different approach applied to them.
  20. @Darkshade might be able to point you in a decent direction. There are spriting specific programs out there like Aesprite, but it's better to use one that is decent for them.
  21. You do not. https://pokemmo.eu/tos/
  22. Report them using in game functions. Also CMs have very little power and you most certainly will not really have any say in development of mechanics. You can also turn off other chat languages, if they are still visible. Make sure you are looking at the language tags that come up. If you see anything other than EN coming up you have other languages turned on. The Chinese part of the community is very active and chat tends to move very fast for their language. Also, word of advice, you won't get any say in development of the game. At all. There are only two staff members below Admin who have had any say in development and they are Darkshade and Rache. Rache designed the teams for the gym leaders and E4. Darkshade does the sprite art and also gives input on mechanics. It would be wise of you to remove that thought from your mind entirely. It's great that you want to help the community, but going in thinking you will be granted magical access to the development of the game to make changes you want is not going to help you at all. The CM level of staff sees the most turnover for any level for varying reasons including some just not working out. LOL, no it's not. The client also has Chinese and Spanish translations along with other supported language. If I recall, the client is capable of detecting rom language so even if someone only speaks Chinese, if they have an English rom then their client will be in English. You say it's not hard, but it's even easier to just click through everything without changing defaults.
  23. New theory is that we're still stuck in the year 2000 and there has just been a glitch in the matrix.
