  1. As a fellow veteran player, I can only suggest anywhere. Journey to all of the other regions that have come out wince then, and complete them. Breed on the side, hunt for shineys, kanto hunt for legendaries, and re-battle NPCs to rack up some extra cash. Invest in Pokémon with pickup/thief and train them to lvl 100 for farming money. Work on building a competetive team. Search for hidden items. Build your Hoenn base. Get involved with a guild. Train. There's so much you can do now.
  2. Nice!! RNG is legit in this game. I got my first shiny after almost a decade of playing and using sweet scent, but my only other shiny came about the other week when I was hunting Luvdisc singularly for heart scales. You never really know.
  3. On one hand, I love the idea that Legendaries have always been the "only one" in the game, and you need to continue to prove your worth to keep them. That feels more accurate and realistic to how it would actually be if Pokemon existed. On the other hand, if we're going to step away from that and give players access to keep legendaries permanently, I think having the encounter rate be extraordinarily small would also feel more accurate and realistic because, let's be honest, they're Legendary Pokemon. It wouldn't make sense if they just threw themselves at everyone. Part of the excitement about having a legendary should be the fact that you found it in the first place.
  4. I just went into the GTL to check and I'm so glad you haven't put it up for sale
  5. I apologize if this is a silly question, but why are you using third party software? You should be able to just play the game with the regular client on any device that supports it.
  6. I have Pros and Cons to this answer, but to get them out of the way I'll start on the negative. When PokeMMO started, the community was wholesome and supportive of the developers. This never was (and still isn't) a pay-to-play game, and in 2012 that was a big deal, and continues to be. They've worked consistently hard to update PokeMMO and make it better and more balanced and fair amongst other players, while giving you more and more freedom to make your character (both in appearance and in play style) feel truly your own. This was the case for years, but as it's grown in popularity I've seen an unfortunate amount of entitled people rearing their heads and throwing hateful attention toward the Devs and the game itself without any regard to how hard they've worked by donation only to keep it alive for over 10 years. Now for the good stuff, The community has it's poisonous wretches, but a majority I see posting in the forums and playing in game are genuinely helpful and encouraging of new and old players alike. If you have a question, you can expect a detailed answer without a jab at your knowledge or language barrier. The threads on hunting Shineys, breeding, etc. are abundant, active and constantly updated by other players themselves, which is immensely helpful. The GMs and other staff are also active and happy to answer questions, and actively engage in regular conversations and joke around with everyone else as they always have both in-game and in-forum as well, so there never feels like there's a heirarchial barrier between Player and Staff. We all love Pokemon, and that love is what has made the game what it is. The community continues to prove that. Both of the above is what makes PokeMMO a great game to play, and why I've kept coming back to it over the last 11 years. I'll go on my Hiatus' when life stuff happens, as I'm sure many of us do. I've grown a lot as a person over this time. I've loved and lost, moved, learned, grown, engaged in new interests and changed my life. A lot of changes have happened, but there's been only one constant in all of those years; and that's PokeMMO. This has been my home and always will be, even long after it ceases to exist. I can't be anything but stunningly bewildered and inspired by the tenacity the Dev's and the Community have had since it launched. I just hope these bad eggs learn to go with our flow and don't ruin it for everyone down the road. However, at the pace we've been going, I don't see that happening any time soon.
  7. This is a very legitimate complaint. I'm all about creativity, but when it's abusive and intrusive to other players who strive to have the best experience they can with all of the hard work the devs have put into balancing and mechanics over the last 11 years, things like this need to be brought to attention. Thanks for speaking up
  8. What would it say on the occasional in-game television announcements?
  9. It never has been, nor will it ever be "Pay to Win". Like a lot of other games, you do have the option to spend actual money to acquire things easier and quicker, but you're never pressed or put into a position where you actually need to spend money to progress. It's a value that PokeMMO has upheld for the last 10 years, and I do not at all see them going that route. On a side note, I don't think they legally could make it Pay to Win whether they wanted to or not.
  10. Hey guys, as someone who's been playing since 2012, I've seen a lot of progress with this game. But one thing that's always remained true is you, the amazing and beautiful community that helps keep this game alive. Unfortunately I'm not offering anything in regards of specials or anything like many other players are, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for making this what it is (Devs included of course) and I hope all of you have the most amazing and wonderful holiday, however you choose to spend it. Here's to another year of PokeMMO, Here's to another year of great friends and new experiences and most importantly here's to another year of you. Cheers my friends, and Merry Christmas. If you get into any trouble, tell em Atumisk (ig: Harlock) sent you.. it won't help, but tell them anyway.
  11. I found myself flying and bicycling a route through Kanto hitting up any swarms and trick or treaters along the way. My team was very unprepared for the mini bosses so I avoided them but I still racked up a lot of experience with all of the battling, caught some really nicely stat' particle Pokémon, and got to level up and learn some of my PC Pokémon. I'll also never forget where the routes anymore, that's for sure.
  12. As we reach the last day of the Halloween event, I channeled my spooky side and wrote a poem about an Urban Legend I had an idea for. "Oh, Lucas McCreevy was about 5ft 9,Not too much different than you or I.He loved to play jokes - some too old, some too dryBut Lucas McCreevy oft went awry. One day his eye glimpsed a man at the park"Ah, Yes" thought Lucas McCreevy "What an excellent mark"He snaked through the bushes with a prop in his hand, and throwing himself down screamed as loud as he can.The man gave a chuckle as Lucas subsideAnd offered him up with a long winded sigh."How did you know?" the confused prankster 'fessed,"I knew" creased the man "because I did it best.""I'm the master of jokes, tomfoolery galore. If you like playing pranks boy, I've got some more. This one I've been saving and have yet to test, but if YOU were to do it, you'd surely be best"Lucas McCreevy, curious to hearThought for a moment then lent him an ear.The breath of the stranger was sharp and it stung, as he filled young McCreevy with the greatest, "The One".As more months went by, a rumor emergedOf a man who was seen to be hunched and obscured. His bones twisted and cracked, and they popped as he stepped,And the hair on his head stood on end when he wept.Nobody believed this strange tale that was spun,But curious minds made the rumor much fun.The locals reported "the creature will comeIf you stand very still by Lake Hinckly at 'one. After 5 minutes, you'll hear a faint knockNot on a door, but that old Hinckly rock.A second will come, then a third closely by,This isn't a ruse or the trick of your eye.Your breathing will cease and your legs will give way when you hear the cripple emerge on this day. You've only got a few seconds to spareBefore the weeping begins and you're locked to his stare."The interest grew within town, it was funand then people kept coming to Hinckly at 'one. After a month and a day had gone by,Lucas McCreevy felt ready to die.How could he keep up this constant charade? This wasn't a prank, it became a parade! So Lucas McCreevy, with all of his wits, made one last appearance and then called it quits. But to his surprise, his work was not doneAs his limbs had contorted and curiously spun. What could he do? He soon failed to thinkas his mind churned like butter down an old kitchen sink. The pain was unbearable as his muscles gave way,And coiled like snakes through his twisted domain. Now every night, not for laughter or fun,A creature emerges, the greatest, "The One"
  13. Same - I managed to accumulate a lot of really great items and cosmetics from goodie bags, quite a lot of particle Pokémon, and honestly I'm much more fluent in which routes are where now as well. Very good job indeed, there really was something for everyone.
  14. Rache posted this in another thread: "This change was made as Taunt trivialized the boss to an unreasonable degree, allowing players to mindlessly follow a guide to beat the whole thing extremely consistently in 10-11 turns with few items in ~10 minutes of gameplay. When designing something intended to be fought repeatedly, some amount of RNG is required to ensure that this isn't the case, players should occasionally be expected to need to think about what to do with their turn. Post-nerf, while still extremely powerful when it hits, its loss of consistency means that you'll sometimes have to adapt to a less ideal situation when it doesn't, or try something else. The boss was designed to be plenty beatable without it and tested with less optimal teams than the ones being used now. We realize that flipping coins to land Taunt isn't very fun, but unfortunately our options to tweak it mid-event are limited - the only other option would be to disable it entirely. We've thought of a better/less annoying way to nerf it for future events, but are unable to implement it for this one."
  15. I don't know about you guys but my character is lvl 50 max in Kanto and I've had a great (and pretty easy) time just battling and catching swarms and trick or treaters without fighting the boss or mini bosses, and even the items in the goodie bags aren't bad. Anything I don't want, I'll just sell. The devs have purposely made it more difficult, but they've made all of the ai in the game more difficult. This forces you to adapt to different strategies which only strengthen you as a trainer and benefit your ability to battle efficiently in the long run. Don't let the difficulty discourage you, accept it as a challenge and use it as a way to get better and train your Pokémon. You may lose the battle but you'll inevitably win the war.
  16. You're not cool, scary or threatening dude. Just stop. This game has never been in such an unplayable state that you'd be justifying ordering devs to bend to your petty little whim. I don't know about you, but that's the behavior of a "kid". If everyone else's controllers work fine after the update (all of mine do) then maybe you need a new controller? That's kindergarten level logic. Don't come to a place you don't own that's been home to many and disturb their peace with your sniveling mightier-than-thou behavior and disrespecting your hosts. If you do, expect your peace to be disturbed and look at where you're at - you're still at their mercy to help you.
  17. Mak said it perfectly, also keep in mind that the Pokemon holding EXP share also get the defeated Pokemon's EV benefits. Handy if you're trying to train multiple builds at once.
  18. I used to program games on BYOND back in the day, and I liked to keep up with fan-made online Pokemon games. Then someone told me there's a game that's finally connected a Rom file to a server and I haven't been back to BYOND since.
  19. Well that makes me feel better then. I'm glad you guys at least give Gen 2 more recognition than the franchise. I'll be updating the post Unrelated: I was actually discussing with my girlfriend the other day about how PokeMMO is the best Pokemon game out there because you guys have taken the time and effort to balance every mechanic to work seamlessly with every region, and the ability to travel to other regions alone puts this game on top.
  20. What was your first shiny? It is terribly unlucky, but that just means my first one will be extra special when I finally find them
  21. whaaa? well I can't believe I've never noticed that. Now I feel a real goof
  22. I sound a fool for asking, but exactly how many Johto Pokemon are there? I've seen a few and I've beaten every region multiple times. The starters aren't available in the wild, at least as far as I know (you'd probably know better than I would). And outside of PokeMMO, it's really been left in the dust as well in comparison to the other regions. It's just a weird phenomenon I'm noticing.
  23. Since 2012, I've been looking forward to seeing Gen 2 Pokemon and the Johto region make their debut on PokeMMO. There was hope when the Hoenn region was announced, to no avail. There was hope when some Gen 2s were seen in the wild, to no avail. There was hope when the HG/SS Roms were required for followers, alas however, to no avail. I've noticed however, Gen 2 is pretty much forgotten overall outside of Pokemon Showdown (And PokeMMO) - on Consoles, Handhelds, Browsers, etc. How come? Gen 2 had some of the best Pokemon, and Johto was one of the most beautiful regions. It also introduced the Time/Day Mechanic, Held Items, Berries, Breeding, and Specialized Pokeballs that we rely on so heavily these days. So with the recent developments and updates PokeMMO has been working VERY hard with (and I couldn't be more thankful for everything you guys do and the hard work you put in), why is it that Johto has been skipped over, and what is there to say about the overall disappearance of an entire region on almost every scale? Edit: I stand corrected on the Johto Pokemon in-game, so this OP has been updated to avoid confusion.
  24. To put it into perspective, I've been playing PokeMMO since 2012 and have never encountered a Shiny Pokemon.
